When you go to a TJ Maxx every location has a different strength sometimes home, cosmetics, random knickknacks, men's or women's clothes... I won't say which area this one is strongest in. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE I was trying to exchange a bathing suit I bought on June 21st today, July 7th. I washed the bathing suit before wanting to wear it (who doesn't?! It's gross!) but it discolored and the quality became unsatisfactory. I was told by the sales associate and the manager that they can't do anything because it's been washed. Who will wear a bathing suit (or any clothing) that has not been washed?! Who knows how many hundreds of people tried it on already?! It is aggravating. For as much as I shop at TJ Maxx and or Marshalls, I thought I deserved better treatment. I left the bathing suit at the store because I don't want to be reminded of a poor quality material and most especially poor quality service! read more

Two stars because the night-shift manager resolved the situation. Went here on 7/5/2021 after dropping my grandma off for a doctor's appointment around the corner. Went in with my puppy and I let him pick out a toy. He had such a blast playing with it, squeaking it and having a great time. I brought the toy and a few other items (socks, t-shirts etc) up to the register. I noticed the toy my dog picked out didn't have a tag, but I've purchased things without tags both here and at multiple other TJX/Homegoods/Marshall's locations before. I was explaining to the cashier that we found it but it didn't have a tag, and he was about to key it in and ring it up. A woman who was in no way, shape, or form connected to the transaction walked up behind the cashier and said, "if you FOUND this, you can't buy this! It has to go in the lost-and-found" and ripped it out of my hands and away from my puppy who just loved that toy. I wasn't talking to her, or dealing with her, she heard a snippet of my conversation with the cashier and interjected into something that was quite literally NONE of her business! I went home and my dog was crying and crying and searching all over the house for this toy he fell in love with. I finally had enough and called the store and explained the situation. Was offered the toy for free. I had to drive all the way back from Roselle to Elgin to pick it up, however, when I was already there and willing to pay for it if it wasn't for that rude woman. read more

Warning if you buy any domestic items(bedding, linens etc) check it over extremely thorough before you wash it. Bought a sets of sheets,. washed them prior to using them and there were damaged, ink on them. Return to store, sorry they don't return anything that was washed cuz they can't resell it. Said they are damaged, company policy. After the manager begrudgingly refunded the cost, if I had returned it not washed would they still put it back on the shelf? read more

Who doesn't love TJ Maxx? Not me! The only thing they're missing are men's shoes, but that's okay they more than make up for it in everything else they carry, and even when things are regularly priced for TJ Maxx, they're pretty cheap compared to the usual places you might find them. For example, Skullcandy ink'd ear buds. Best Buy sells these for $18.99, TJ's price? A whopping $7.99. Ralph Lauren oxford shirts? Pretty much everywhere else, $80. TJ sells them for $50. But just wait for them to go on sale, they'll still be there, because I don't know anyone who buys anything for $50 at TJ Maxx, except for maybe a purse. When things go on sale, there are two categories, red and yellow. Red clearance stickers mean it's been marked down once, or that it's still eligible to be marked down more. Once the sticker becomes yellow, that is the lowest price you are going to get for it. A sampling of brands you can find at TJ Maxx - Juicy Couture, Kate Spade, Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren, Wenger, Cynthia Rowley, Ben Sherman, Lucky Brand, Seven for all Mankind, J Brand, Under Armor, Paper Denim and Cloth.....the list goes on and on. TJ Maxx is the primary store that I shop for clothing at. Everything from socks to underwear, sleepwear, jeans(got a pair of seven's for $70), jackets, hats, you name it. Nice store but the customer service is terrible. I returned a suitcase that I bought the day before with all tags attached and they still questioned me about having used it. Do they think I traveled somewhere last night and came back to return it today? I should of walked out of this store after that unfriendly experience but no, stupid me went to try to purchase a couple of items. While waiting in line for 10 minutes the cashier in charge(I'm assuming) keep sending other cashiers to the sales floor. She even closed up her register and left only one cashier to help ring up customers. Sorry, if it's more important to stock the floor and do go-backs then to provide customer service than I won't be coming back. So now you can go ahead and also put my items back since that's such a priority for the people that work in this store. read more

I wish there is a negative star ratings here. I was looking at a men's watch and did not have a price tag. The sales clerk pulled a couple of watches with the same brand and similar style but with different bracelets ( one leather and the other a metal link). The manager, Lisa was trying to overcharge by saying they go with the higher price even though the other sample they pulled did not have MSRP... this is a bogus way of running a business and I hope I can help others with this review!!!! read more

What can I say? I had a blast at this store on Saturday after visiting relatives. I found so many great finds! I love these kind of discount stores. There are so many cool, unique items that you can't find for such a cheap price! The coolest find? This shirt with a leopard print skull on the front...and on the back? Cut outs that look like a skull face! Holy crap! Best find ever! There were also these camouflage rain boots I am *sooooo* regretting not getting. They never really have anything good in here. I always stroll over to the kids section if I can't find anything I like and I end up walking out the store with clothes for my kids. Anyways, always pay attention at the cash register when the cashier rings you up. For the first time today, I was looking to my right while she was ringing my items up and I looked back and seen the cashier putting the scissors down so I thought she was putting it away. Then, I looked at the price and it has 2 in the corner and it said, $9.99. Then I started thinking did she ring me up for $9.99 twice? But I looked over at the other shirt and it was put to the side folded. (The shirt she snip the price tag off) The price tag was on that shirt when I picked it up from the rack which was &$7.99 and she snip off the price tag and rung the $9.99 shirt up twice on purpose! When I walked out the door, I was like she better not have rung me up twice for that $9.99 shirt and guess what!!!! she did! I tried looking for the tag to the grey shirt that was $7.99 and the tag was no where to be found. What I saw was the plastic string that holds the price tag/ticket cut off and I started piecing everything together and the slick cashier snip of the price tag off when I was looking to my right. I looked back just in time to see the scissors in her hand setting it down. She looked at me like a suspect but I thought she was just trying to get the scissors out the way. I walked back in after I checked the receipt and price with the items I got and she wasn't there but better believe I got that "error" fixed on my receipt. I don't know if she did that so the dept. can reach a certain amount of sales or commission or what's so ever but just watch your items being scan here. TJ Maxx - Department Stores Near Me - South Elgin, Illinois

I'm a huge bargain shopper, and this TJ's is pretty good, although the deals are hit and miss. My main problem with this one is that they need to improve their clearance offerings... everything here is pretty pricey, considering it's a TJ Maxx. The shoe selection here is also pretty horrid. They have a really horrible setup, with forcing you to shop by your size and not by the type of shoe. They do sometimes sell Coach shoes. Quite a bit of BCBG, Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren, and lots of the REALLY NICE B. Makowsky handbags (drool) I must say the previous reviewer is incorrect about the yellow sticker being rock-bottom prices, I've seen plenty of items before with multiple yellow stickers marking their prices down further and further. There's always the chance they'll pile another yellow sticker on. read more

I went here on Black Friday around 5 pm. Surprisingly, it wasn't too crowded. There were some amazing deals, and so many things I wanted to buy but I restrained myself. The only other locations I've been to are in Skokie and the downtown Chicago one, but I have to say this location had the most interesting items to me! read more
