I ordered a 6' American hero for a party. The hero was fabulous. Compliments all around. The bread was delicious & the meats/cheese were fresh & tasty. The woman in the shop even helped me carry the hero to the car. The price was right & location was close by. TJ heros shops is the best hero Shop I have ever gone too. When Citifield first opened, I was there for opening day week and I went to TJ heros so I could enjoy my Turkey and Bacon sandwich In the new Mets Stadium. The breakfast sandwiches are the delicious and they have great deals during the week. Compare it to other hero shops, like subway and so forth, and there is no comparison. You are getting real meat for starters and the bread is delicious. They are also a community based hero shop that gives out to the community. Mike, the owner has done things to help people in the community. He has a big heart and truly has compassion for his work. With a combination of great food, fine service, and an owner who cares about his customers, you can't drive by TJ's even if your not hungry, you gotta have some! Nobody beats TJ's! read more

This place has awesome Heros. There is also a great selection. I love the Louisiana lightning. There is something about that stealth sauce that makes it taste so good! My all time favorite was the "rodeo" but they did away with it for some strange reason :-/. The ice tea is out of this world and taste great. So refreshing as well . I had two subs, one steak and one meatball. I enjoyed them both but I enjoyed the steak better. I think because I expected the meatball to have red sauce and it had gravy. My mind didn't mix the two. Yeah, this place makes a mean hero. They've got 20 "special" heroes (which are mostly amazing) as well as just about any other sandwich you can think of. The only downsides are that it's fairly out of the way to get to, and the prices are a bit high ... but that's why we go there for lunch on Wednesdays, when the heroes are "buy one get one 1/2 off": with the right number of people (even numbers only), they come to about $6.50 with tax, which is a great deal for a delicious, huge sandwich. read more

1st time going there this week. I had a plumbing job to do out that way. The home owner was raving about them so I was hungry & decided to try them on the way back home (60 miles or so). The sandwich was really, really good. I had a chopped cheeseburger on a hero lettuce, mayo, ketchup. One of the best I ever had. I would have gave them 5 stars but the atmosphere was kinda stale.
