TJ's is underrated and should be congratulated for their customer service and attention to detail. Made an order the other day and the manager/owner called back to confirm a part of the order that was a specific request. Food came on time and was hot and delicious. I've ordered from multiple pizza restaurants in the West Milford area and have been disappointed with the lack of service, forgetting a topping, missing part of an order. We are on a mission to find the best Margarita, Grandma, & Grandpa Pizza in North Jersey! Yesterday, we gave TJ's Pizzeria & Cafe, West Milford, NJ a try. We ordered: Margarita pie and a Brooklyn Square. Up first the margarita pie. The dough is very fresh, a little thick but fresh.The strange part: Yes, it has fresh mozzarella, basil, and drops of plum tomato sauce but it was over a traditional pizza, meaning the margarita was utilized as "toppings" over a basic pie with regular mozzarella and sauce. So....not a real margarita pizza but will give it a thumbs up for overall taste and the use of very fresh ingredients that "jazzed up" a regular pie. The Brooklyn Square which is very similar to a Grandpa pie was The BEST of all three. Thick square crust, very fresh. Mozzarella cheese is baked under the sauce - seasoning, Parmesan cheese on top. We loved this. And if you like fresh garlic on your pizza.. this is a winner! We are giing TJ's 4 stars based on this pie alone. A JOB WELL DONE!!! The pepperoni pie - a traditional pie with fresh dough. The dough is what really helps their pies, the sauce was fine not too salty. Pepperoni was greasy which sits on the pie taking some of the taste from the sauce away. Mozzarella was a thin layer. Onto the next pizzeria, we are trying one every Friday night. Never heard a complaint about TJ's, the same people show up almost every day in the same parking lot with me as I tease and mix with them. TJ really exists and is a walking, talking mortal who loves to cook and takes his roll in life seriously . TJ's is a strong fiber running thru the Downtown of West Milford and is positioned across the street from our best dining spots and does extremely well. read more

Yesterday, my wife and I were out driving and just happened to stop at TJ's and each of us got a slice of pizza. Since we moved from Brooklyn to northern New Jersey over 30 years ago, we have not been able to find pizza that we would find in Brooklyn until yesterday: The crust was thin, the cheese was thick and the tomato sauce was perfect. Ordered a plain pie and a pepperoni pie for delivery. The order arrived and we opened up both boxes to see two very under-cooked pizzas that looked like they went on a roller coaster ride. The pepperoni and cheese were mostly slid off to the side (too much sauce, too much cheese, not enough cooking time, and a driver that probably just got their ACTUAL driver's license a week ago) The cheese pie was folded up in a few spots but still edible, though it was still a pretty bad slice of pizza after all said and done. To make matters worse, when I called to ask for my money back for the pepperoni pizza, they actually sent the driver back to give me the cash and to pick up the pizza that was all messed up. I guess they want to make sure people aren't lying to them to get their below average pizza for free. What a horrible management situation going on to now have to inconvenience me twice when it could have just been resolved by a simple refund and an apology. Not to mention they're putting the people of West Milford's lives at risk sending that maniac back on the roads. Go to Shop Rite, buy some frozen pizza and save yourself the hassle of dealing with people that have no clue how to make pizza or run a business. Oh, and your Digiorno or Ellio's will still taste a LOT better. Just be careful on your drive home....there might be a TJ's delivery driver speeding around corners like an extra out of Tokyo Drift making other customers' pizza into a calzone and expecting a tip when he gets to the door. read more

I absolutely love the pizza here... I know that pizza is a subject of thing, people like think crust, thick crossed, lot of cheese, not so much sauce... But this one is exactly what I like. favorite thing on the menu though, is the calzone. Its huge, with that same great crust they use for the pizza, in the nice mixture of fillings... Meh. Nothing really special. Pretty difficult finding a decent pizza place around town so figured we'd try this spot after a recommendation. They do deliver so that's a plus. We tried them twice to give them a chance and to try a variety of things from the menu. They have a very extensive menu so there's plenty of options. Lots of different apps sandwiches paninis and entrees. Unfortunately nothing is anything to write home about. The pizza doesn't have much flavor and it kinda reminds me of a Costco pizza. The second time we got pizza it was super thin and limp. Just a very dry weak taste and definitely not enough sauce. The sandwiches and paninis are ok, just lacking some flavor. Maybe marinating the chicken or seasoning it a bit would help. The Caesar salad wasn't that good, I found it odd they put onions in it and no parm cheese. They gave plenty of chicken with it but the pieces just tasted dry and bland. Overall the food isn't terrible but I wouldn't rave about anything. There's not many decent delivery spots around the area so this just seems to be another mediocre pizza place. read more

Very annoyed. Now if you want to pay by card they charge you a .50 fee. It's principle for me. How dare you. I could spend 100 bucks on food and you are going to nickel and dime!? They lost a repeat customer just because they are being cheap. Not smart. Not a good business move especially when Franks just reopened across the street. TJ's in West Milford was the only place I ever ordered from & I liked their food a lot. Last week they messed up 2 orders that I picked up & when I called to fix the mistake, the manager would not make good on it. He was rude & admitted that the waitress made the mistake & still would not make good on the problem. He then hung up on me. They admit the mistake & do not fix, They have now lost a customer. I cannot in good faith recommend them now that the new owner has taken over. He is not a good customer service person & I cannot believe how rude a manager would be to a customer. read more

If I could give this place negative stars, I would. Turkey sandwich had 3... Three slices of Turkey, Brown dried edges and wilted lettuce. Fries were soggy and under cooked. Partial Refund was given begrudgingly. Been going here for years, and it has always been great... but the new owners could seriously use a lesson in restaurant management. I highly suggest the owners hire a consultant to help them get this place straightened out. Otherwise, I would not be surprised to see this place closed within the next year. read more

We have ordered from TJ's a number of times and had a very bad experience last night that will have us not going back. We ordered a pizza and appetizers, and it took an hour and twenty minutes for the food to arrive, even though we live less than 5 minutes from the restaurant. It was early on a Thursday night, not during the weekend rush. The food was all cold, and we called to complain. The person who answered the phone at first refused to get a manager for us, then said she was the manager. Sketchy at best. She argued with us that our food was not cold. We assured her it was ice cold. Then she told us that we cannot expect food to be delivered hot, that is just not possible. It wasn't the fact that the food took so long that turned us off to this place so much - it was the utter rudeness and total lack of customer care or service. I would not recommend calling here for delivery if you are hungry or want your food to arrive warm. read more
