My experience at TLC was fantastic. The whole staff was friendly and informative and very helpful. First and foremost, the staff goes to great lengths to educate you on your current vision and the process that the surgeon will go through to correct it. Everyone from the sweet lady who did the scheduling to the nurse were excellent. Dr. Sweeney was my Optometrist and Dr. Holzman was my surgeon. Dr. Sweeney is a great doctor. He's very professional and very personable. He went through great lengths for me to provide medical documentation needed by my employer, even when my employer wasn't sure what they needed. He went out of his way, even on weekends making sure I was taken care of. Dr. Holzman was very comforting and proficient at conducting my surgery. I felt very little discomfort as he spoke to me during the procedure. Dr. Holzman even followed up with me later that night to make sure I was doing alright. It didn't feel like a routine call, he genuinely cares. He even timed his call so that I had received the recommended rest following the procedure. I had very little discomfort following the procedure. I was given a very comprehensive and easy to read schedule telling me when to apply the various eye drops that I was prescribed. The surgeries are conducted on Thursday mornings, which allows working adults to rest and be back to work on Monday. My experience with TLC through it's great staff has been a great one and I definately recommend them. If you think you may want Lasik or PRK, make an appointment for a consultation. These people aren't salesmen, they'll medically advise you on what will work for you. My experience was "no pressure," making it easier for me to make an informed decision. Its been almost two weeks since my surgery and I am SO pleased. I went with PRK because of thin corneas (I knew part of me was still *thin*). After the surgery I kept saying to the staff, 'you guys say this is easy, but you are really understating how easy!' There was NO pain, and no scary, 'omg they are shooting lasers at my eyes!' moments at all. It was so fast and so easy. Now lets talk about the staff. Seriously, the best. I felt so comfortable and at home with them. I talked to them on the phone leading up to the surgery for help with the financing and the RXs. Originally the pharmacy was quoting me $470 for the four RXs with my insurance, but Kaylee helped me get that down to just a few bucks over $100 with some coupon codes and shopping around. She worked magic and saved me about $370! I also had just about every possible *this never happens to anyone* issue pop up with the financing when I arrived for surgery. But that staff had me in good hands and worked through each, *we have never seen this happen before* issue with the financing company and my HSA company. Kaylee was on the phone, jumping through hoops, coming up with out-of-the-box solutions, and made it all work out so I could get my surgery and go home happy. She is a freaking super star. Dr. Sweeney, who did my initial consultation was great. and Dr. Holtzman, who did my surgery was also fantastic. Laid back, easy going, but knowledgeable and confident. It has been a week since my LASIK surgery with Dr. Holzman and I cannot be more pleased with the results and the entire pre- and post- operation care with TLC. They really make you feel comfortable throughout the entire process. Surgery day was a BREEZE. It was quick, painless, and easy. The doctor and staff walk you through everything and make you feel totally comfortable. And post surgery recovery was so easy too. I had mild burning about 30 min after surgery (but seriously no more than the feeling of getting shampoo in your eyes) then i took a nap and woke up being able to see and in no pain at all! I was able to drive to work the next morning. One week later and my vision is 20/15. It is truly incredible. I have never seen this well with contacts or glasses. I am only 24 years old and I hope to enjoy my new eyes and perfect vision for many years to come. read more

I had my surgery just a little over 2 weeks ago. I was able to walk out afterwards and see the world, without my glasses, for the first time in 41 years. Everything was great from beginning to end. All the staff put out extra effort to make the whole process easy, from financing to recovery. Dr. Sweeney and Dr. Holzman were 2 of the best doctors I have ever worked with. Both were very friendly, down to earth men who did not have a problem spending a little extra time explaining things. The procedure itself was totally painless and fast. I am very pleased with the results and would advise anyone thinking about Lasik to go ahead and do it. I have had no problems and am healing wonderfully. I had LASIK with Dr. Holzman about six weeks ago. What a fantastic experience! I am thrilled with my results. Dr. Holzman and his staff are wonderful and the surgery was so easy. I was nervous on the date of my surgery, but Nancy talked me through what would happen during the procedure and put me at ease. Then, Dr. Holzman assured me that all I had to do was stay calm and keep breathing and he would take care of the rest. He did exactly that - the procedure was so quick and painless. I was even able to travel to NY the very next day after surgery - the downtime is that minimal. I felt pretty much back to normal after 2-3 weeks. For those first few weeks, my eyes just felt a little dry at times (keeping the rewetting drops in the fridge really helps!). I highly recommend Dr. Holzman and his team! read more

From start to finish the staff at TLC of Charlottesville were welcoming, kind, and professional. They were efficient and flexible in scheduling my procedure. The day of the procedure was the longer wait of about 1 hour due to prep and explanation of procedure but the actual procedure took no more than 10 minutes.
