I wish I had read reviews before allowing TLC to cut my dogs. Customer service: I had a relatively decent experience on scheduling an appointment they responded quickly and were quick to get us in. They were responsive over text and showed up on time. Hair cutting: I have never gotten my dogs back from the groomer looking like this. We have a mutt that was a bit matted and was in bad need of a cut so I warned Brooke that she doesn't like to be brushed and it would be okay to cut her short. She came inside squinting her left eye which we thought was a bit odd but we didn't say anything. As the night progressed our dog could open her eye less and less. I called Gail and told her what had happen and at first was very understanding and said she would take care of the vet bill and refund us for the dogs. I texted her to confirm the refund amount and she ghosted. I called her to again ask and she said oh well now I think we should only refund of the dogs and sorry about the vet bills. We will be taking her to the emergency to find out what is wrong with her eye and will report back. Whoever manages the truck is rude and irresponsible. While speaking to I assume what was a client at their door, had left a large dog with a metal collar unattended in the front seat of the van. The dog was barking and growling with its head out the window, scratching at the glass at passerby's on the street. When notified, the driver rudely dismissed concerns. Some people are fearful of animals, let alone an unattended large animal lunging at them from a window. I have to call the groomer at 2 who tells me she is running late due to having to pick up her daughter and other personal excuses. Sonya is very caring and while I can't say my dogs love being groomed they are well cared for and look great when she is finished. I learned of this groomer after seeing their mobile unit at my neighbor's house. TLC also has a boarding service which I used for a three day stay. Called to set up an appointment since my other groomer is closed during COVID-19. My dog is a little grumpy, so I gave fair warning. Gail asked me to get tranquilizers because none of her groomers wanted to work with a difficult dog (fair, but also no other professional groomers have ever asked me to drug her). So I called my vet and had an order placed. Gail cancelled the appointment that I had made, so I had to call back to get something rescheduled after I confirmed that I had purchased tranquilizers. Day of the grooming arrived. I drugged my dog, per instructions. The groomer did not show. Noone called and told me they were running late. I called and texted multiple times. Finally I left a voicemail and then Gail bothered to call me back. She said obviously they weren't going to make the appointment but offered for a time slot 3 HOURS from then, or possibly some time over the next two days. Didn't even apologize for straight up not showing to the appointment she had made (and I had confirmed twice). Obviously I was furious because I had unnecessarily drugged my dog (which she did not enjoy!). But then Gail asked me to have to give her more drugs later that same day, or again the next day? With no confidence that the groomer would actually show up, that was obviously a no. All around, horrible experience. Very unprofessional, and I will absolutely never use these services. read more

Very disappointed with the recent grooming our maltipoo received by Brook. We had put off getting him groomed due to the recent dog flu outbreak so he had become matted. In 30 minutes she was done and appeared on our doorstep with him... she was not holding him and he was off leash standing on our front porch. He could have easily run off (we NEVER allow him out front unless he is on a leash as we are on a busy street and it isn't safe - this was terribly irresponsible of her). He's less than 13 pounds so holding him should not have been an issue. I don't know if she had him walk off leash from the street or set him down once at the door, but either is absolutely not acceptable. As for the grooming job... he was shaved down from head to tail. She had groomed him twice before and left his tail long, but not this time. His tail was not matted and could have been brushed out. Typically we do close cut to the body, tail left long, short puppy cut-style for the head. His tail was not matted. But... His cut is uneven everywhere, and one side of his head is shaved down almost to the skin and the other side is 1/2" long. Also uneven along the top of the body (you can see the clipper track with longer fur along either side), long bits here and there... looks like she said f*** it and just took the clippers to him with no care or pride in her work. Compared to the two times prior, which were acceptable. It's fine if he had to be shaved down completely, but it should have been mentioned and the workmanship should have been far better. 30 minutes from wash to doorstep is too fast. Finally, my previously rambunctious, independent, happy young dog is shaking constantly (even with a sweater and the heater running) and is unusually attached to me and isn't as playful, as though he had a traumatic experience. I know my dog and his behavior is not normal for him right now. I have no problem paying a premium for good service. The price is not the issue. But my expectation is that the end result and experience will be something better than Petco or other hack groomer. After this time, not using this service again. read more

TLC came over and Brooke cut our dogs hair too short and cut the nails too short on one dog, which required a trip to the vet because it was bleeding, and the other dog hardly had his nails cut at all. Every time she comes over she fills up the truck with our water. We ended that. We let Gail know what happened on this last trip and she offered to refund our money of $160.00 and I guess that her offer was not sincere, because we never saw the refund. read more

Many of you remember my original three-star review for this service. You remember because you gave me some great advice on fleas, flea foggers and egg cycles. You may have even added your own story to my accompanying thread, "Flea Saga." I gave TLC three stars because while I enjoyed their unique and convenient service (driving around to pick up pets for grooming), my cats still had fleas after the dipping. I admitted that it could have been my error and I was willing to give TLC another chance. That chance came when I was going out of town to visit friends in Sacramento. I planned on leaving on Friday morning and returning Sunday afternoon. Originally, a friend offered to come over and feed my cats on Saturday and Sunday morning, but I wanted to try another round of flea-killing. The idea was to come home to a flea-free house with flea-free kitties, armed with my great Yelper advice, six flea-foggers and the services of TLC Mobile Pet Grooming. Before I could even get them to come to my house, I had to agree to take down my three-star review completely. My cat-sitter volunteer was sitting with me when I got this call, and again offered to take my cats for the weekend. I refused. I really wanted to have a success with this groomer and throw up some more stars for their unique services. Gail originally agreed to come pick my cats up early on Friday and drop them off on Sunday around 7pm. It didn't surprise me, however, when I received another call asking if I could reschedule and have the cats come back home on Monday morning, since they are only in certain areas of the Bay Area on certain days. This was no problem, as long as the cats just got their professional-level flea-dip. I got another call a few days later, asking if I could just hand over the kitties a day early, on Thursday night, because it would be nicer to grab them while coming home that day than to have the cats in the vehicle all day. Yeah. I can see that point. I totally forgot to bring Gail's cell number with me while I was out of town and I wanted to see how they were eating, so I tried Google 411 to locate their number, forgetting that they weren't based out of San Jose. Google pulled no less than five mobile pet grooming services that were local. Wow, had I only known... I got my kitties back to me that Monday morning, nice and early, as requested. I was told that my cats didn't eat their food at all the first day. I expected that. Cat's don't travel or deal with new surroundings well at all. I was also told that they don't have fleas and didn't appear to be scratching. I was told that they did not flea-dip my cats because they didn't want to add more trauma to what they had already incurred. I have video taken the day they delivered my cats... you can clearly see two large fleas "bailing" off of my cat's face, and another burying itself in her whiskers, My smaller cat had eggs crusted to the bottom of her chin. Trauma or no trauma, those cats had fleas and it was making them miserable. I was devastated. TLC knew that I was flea-fogging. I spent over $30 on six cans for my small apartment. I spent $280 on a cat-sitting service that didn't come through on the most important part of the deal - get the fleas off my kitties! I was blackmailed into using a service that I find out later isn't all that unique, manipulated into adding two more days to my cats' stay-away, and put my cats through the trauma of riding in a stranger's car and staying for four days in a strange place, only to come home to a house that has no fleas and cats that still do. I should have taken my friend up on the cat-sitting. That would have cost me nothing and I still would have come home to fleas. read more

I'm writing an update to share with everyone the horrid experience I had with Gail recently. I typically hesitate to give poor reviews, but she actually endangered my pet and tried to cover up an injury she inflicted upon him. SHE SHOULD NOT BE IN BUSINESS, NOR BE TRUSTED TO TAKE CARE OF OUR PETS. I came home to find Gail holding Zoey with a tissue around his tail. She said she had "nicked" him and not to do anything, he will be fine. He was in obvious pain over the weekend, and when I went to touch his tail he growled and nearly bit me. This is very unlike his typical sweetness. I called Gail the following Monday and let her know that he is not acting normally and seems to be in pain, and that I should take him to the vet, perhaps he had an infection from the nick. She said the vet may probably take the rest of his tail off. I was flabbergasted and asked her what she meant. She said she had "lacerated his tail pretty badly" and that I should not tell the vet who did it. She lied to me about what had happened and her first thought was to protect her reputation. I told her I was furious, that she had put his life at risk. After two trips tot he vet, rounds of antibiotics and having to wear a cone, it turns out he was finally able to keep his tail. At least Gail reimbursed me for my out of pocket expenses, around $200, but frankly she got off cheap. I will repeat: SHE SHOULD NOT BE IN BUSINESS, NOR BE TRUSTED TO TAKE CARE OF OUR PETS. read more

If I could give negative stars I would. My 12-year-old cat had a 1/2 inch chunk of flesh cut out of his back somehow during grooming. Gail, the groomer, insisted it was not her fault. She thought the cat must have had some kind of lump there. A) If he had a lump, wouldn't I have felt it while petting him daily? and B) Isn't it the groomer's responsibility to know where the fur ends and the flesh begins, regardless of potential lumps? That's why I wanted to pay a professional rather than trying to groom him myself ... I was concerned about injuring him. I had to take my cat to the vet immediately, where he received 5 staples. The vet said the cut was ragged and looked like someone had cut the flesh while trying to remove a mat. Given that the cat had mats on his back, I'm going to guess that's exactly what happened. Where is responsibility for the actions? I am out $197 for vet bills. I spoke with the groomer -- not her fault, she expected payment at least for the other cat groomed before the injured one. I spoke with owner -- well, they're out the cost of the grooming. Are you kidding me? You injure my cat and you have the nerve to say it's costing you? He conceded that I don't have to pay for the other cat's grooming either. Gosh, thanks. The owner said something about the cat being alive, inferring that I should be thankful for that. Um ... have other pets not been that fortunate? To add insult to injury (literally!), the grooming itself was horrendous. For some unknown reason the stomach fur of this long-haired cat was cut to the skin. He had no mats; there was absolutely no reason to do this. Add to that the unevenness of the trim on the belly ... it's just awful! Honestly, i will strongly urge everyone I know to steer clear of this place! read more

Well, there seems to be a theme going on with mobile pet groomers and their customer services skills. When TLC showed up they were fantastic. Unfortunately, they have issues managing their customers information and appointment dates/times. I finally gave up on this business after waiting around for TLC two days in a row. The first day they did not have the correct contact information to confirm the first appointment, so they rescheduled their day and never showed up. I called and they set up an appointment for the following day. When they were late for that appointment, I called and the person who was scheduled to do the grooming had a completely different time than what was quoted to me just the day before. I have now reached out to another groomer. I have my fingers crossed, as this groomer also has yelp reviews and some of these reviews are negative for just the same reasons. It seems that all the groomers are trying to manage the front end as well as doing grooming. It would benefit them to hire someone to manage the phones and setting up appointments. Don't they understand that as convenient as it is for them to come to us, that we still need to set aside time in our schedules for these appointments? read more

The Undercover Super-Hero: Gail the Cat Whisperer. I wish I could give Mobile Pet Grooming SIX stars. Here's the scoop: I've got two boy kitties whose first stop outside is to roll in the dirt. They are 4 and 5 years old and had never had baths other than the ones they gave themselves. They let me brush them, but only on the second Sunday after the full moon of a leap year. So-o they were getting some, ahem, nappy dreads, and I was thinking it was time for a shave. I called the vet to book a shave and they said "no problem, drop them at 7am and pick them up at 5pm". I say "Oh, you're not going to need them all day, it's just a quick shave". They say" They are being anesthetized, we don't have time to deal with fussy kitties" I say "OK, I have the wrong #, sorry to bother you" Then TLC called me back....and told me that Gail is an undercover Super Hero: The Cat Whisperer. I believe it, she showed up today and laid all of my fears to rest of upset kitties and strong-armed baths. No, they weren't singing in the shower, but she was quick, compassionate and thorough. Best of all, she let me stand right there and didn't make me feel bad that I was more nervous than my cats. In fact, my cats are both asleep in the computer room with me right now and they are healthier (less furballs in their future), feel better than if they were knocked out, and smell great (except for their tuna breath- I had to make it up to them!). I explained that I must have the wrong #, and was told that I had in fact reached TLC (obviously someone's cell phone). I asked for a quote and was told it would cost anywhere from $50-$70 for each of my two dogs. Pretty wide price range... The woman who answered made a big point of saying that "we don't get up to where you live very often" and that it might take a while to get an appointment. They are located exactly 3 miles from my house! It doesn't get much closer than that. Not exactly a great first impression, very unprofessional. This was our first experience with TLC - they were recommended to us by a friend after I had called 5 other groomers (searching geographically) with no responses from anyone. I called Gail on a Friday, she was able to check her calendar on the fly and booked us for a spot that Sunday. She called ahead of time and was actually able to come early. Our Doodle took to her right away and was back better than new in about an hour - way better than the 4 to 5 hours he has spent sitting in a cage at other groomers, both private and big-box stores alike. The cost was higher than groomers we've gone to in the past, but considering the convenience of having her come to us, having him done in an hour, and a good, clean hair/nail cut - I was very happy with their service. Gail was pleasant and willing to work with me and my budget over the phone and quickly booked an appointment for today at 12:00. However, at 1:17 I received a voicemail telling me she was running late but would be to my house shortly - to please call back. I did within 8 minutes, however she then stated she would be several hours as she was heading over to another appointment and she'd be over this evening. I asked what time and she said you don't have anything else going on do you? I said I do and needa time estimate. She said she'd said it would be several hours and she could reschedule. Well I spent the morning getting the dogs ready - brushing them out, making sure my kids moved the cars so she could use our driveway, rearranging my schedule so I'd be here and available for the three hours. It was our first meeting and I'd hoped she would have made an effort to be here. As a partially sighted (legally blind) woman its not easy to get the many tasks I need done. I have to plan and make arrangements that I didn't have to worry about when I was fully sighted. I can't just drive my beloved elderly dogs to the groomers, I have to get a family member or friend to drive us and its not easy to impose. I thought a mobile pet grooming would be the best answer but this groomer just blew us off. I'm looking for another groomer, who values her business enough to at least make an effort to be here in a timely manner and is kind to their clients (doggies) too. read more

In searching for a Mobil pet grooming service for my older Lhasa Apso I came across TLC which had decent rating and I decided to try it out. I called and was asked my location time and type of dog then directed to fill out an application online. The application is very confusing, you can put the time of drop off and time of pick up, but at the end of the day it is up to the groomers which can make it a little inconvenient. Brooke did contact me later that day and set up our appointment. On the day of the appointment she did texted me early in the morning saying she would be running an hour late for our appointment at 11am. That's fine I understand with the traffic, rain and gas. She showed up at 12:45. Promptly asked me how I wanted my fur baby cut and I told her a length and I specifically asked her not to cut the ears or tail. She cut the ears and tail. He was a little matted but it could have easily been brushed out. You can see all the clipper marks, uneven hair around his belly and legs. It just looks like she went fast and didn't take time for details. Overall it was a semi-decent experience but I will be looking for a new groomer. read more
