I have been a landlord that has used TMG for 17 years and they are exceptional. The fluid transparency and professionalism that their entire team has displayed has made home ownership a breeze. A bit about me, I'm born/raised in Clark County but now live on the East Coast. The property management team does a great job moving tenants in/out seamlessly, and the accounting department does a great job of collecting rents and paying my mortgage. Owner Review: Shady Tactics, Misleading Auto-Renewals, and Broken Promises I am writing this from the perspective of a property owner to warn others about the poor experience I had with TMG. While they have a very convincing sales team that promises a "partnership" where you as the owner are able to be hands-off while your home is well-cared for, the reality is quite different. They don't follow through with what they promise from a property management perspective and use predatory contracts with high early termination fees that are designed to lock you in, regardless of your property rental goals. Property Owners, beware: Maintenance Neglect: While the maintenance crew does decent work, getting them to actually come out to your property is a struggle. While living abroad, it took my manager, Elijah B., 60 days to tell me he couldn't turn on my Wi-Fi-enabled sprinkler system because it was "too difficult." By then, my lawn was already damaged. Even when I offered to pay the hourly maintenance rate to fix it, he couldn't coordinate it. I had to hire an outside contractor myself. Poor Inspections: They charge 10% of the rent but offer very little oversight. During the mid-year inspection, they failed to notice, follow-up on, or replace a filthy air filter that I had pre-arranged and provided a replacement filter for free. More importantly, they missed the fact that the tenants had repainted multiple rooms. Because they didn't compare old photos with new ones - as a result, we "missed the window" to charge the tenants for the unauthorized painting on one of the rooms. High turnover and shuffling between different account mangers: I was constantly passed around between new property managers, accountants, and business development reps. No one talked to each other, which resulted in more work for me and more damage to my home. My second manager, Heather K., gave me several contradictory statements regarding basic tasks like scheduling AC maintenance. Predatory Billing: Despite telling the sales team from the start that I was only going to be renting my property for a year, they "didn't have this in their notes" and charged me a $1,700 early termination fee. When I pushed back, their response was essentially: "You signed the contract and didn't read the fine print; pay us or go to collections." The "partnership" the sales team promised vanished the moment there was a billing dispute. I even reached out to the President, Carmen Villarma, and the COO to ask if this is truly how they want to do business. They didn't even bother to respond. The Bottom Line: My opinion is TMG spends a lot on Ads to appear first in your search, but that money comes directly out of the pockets of the owners they neglect. Save yourself the stress and the money--find a company that actually values your property. There are tons of property managers you can google that are actually going to give your property attention and dont rely on charging you thousands of dollars when they fail to renew a client. read more

Great Move-In. Deficient Exit Management. We were long-term tenants at a property in Vancouver (168th Ave) managed by TMG. Our tenancy itself was uneventful. However, the handling of the property's sale and our required move-out was not. In May, we were contacted directly by a realtor requesting access to the property for showings. This was our first indication that the home was being sold. At no point prior had TMG, or our assigned property manager, Nicholas, informed us of the owner's intent to sell or provided formal notice regarding the status of our tenancy. We later confirmed the owner had notified TMG in January of the planned sale. Despite this, no communication was made to us. Instead, TMG provided our contact information to the realtor, resulting in us learning of the sale from a third party rather than from property management. We were subsequently informed that we had until the end of June to vacate the property. This short and unexpected timeline created significant logistical and financial strain, including accelerated relocation costs and limited housing options within the available timeframe. The failure to communicate material information, combined with the manner in which tenant contact details were shared and notice was handled, reflects a lack of procedural rigor and consideration for tenant impact. While day-to-day management during the tenancy was adequate, the exit process was poorly managed and resulted in avoidable stress and financial burden. read more

WORST property mgmt company EVER! there should be a class action suit filed against them for what they inflict on tenants. they arbitrarily upped the rent when i asked to see the house. they charged me 3 times the deposit because I was returning from 10 years abroad and don't have a credit score. i sucked it up because i needed a home. After I moved in, I shampooed the carpet, it won't dry. The crawl space was flooded- it was so bad that after I pulled up the floor door to look below. it was a lake! black mold was growing. TMG wont answer the call to repair. I decided to move out- cleaned up the best I could but they kept ALL of my security deposit, claiming the black mold was my fault. My hard earned money stolen for NO FAULT of my own. I hold forever contempt and hatred for TMG. If an attorney is reading this...reach out to us and i'm sure there is enough for a class action suit. Living here feels less like renting an apartment and more like being monitored by a corporation that doesn't actually care about tenants. What's especially alarming is their annual inspection process, which now requires tenants to allow 360-degree cameras inside their homes to photograph the entire apartment and everything in it. Being told to document every corner of your private living space just to remain in compliance feels deeply invasive and inappropriate. A home should not feel like a surveillance zone. What makes it worse is the total lack of professionalism. We contacted management over a month ago to get a simple copy of our own lease still no response. Maintenance requests? Also ignored. Emails? Silence. You only hear from them when they want to enforce rules or threaten fees. They act like this is some kind of luxury penthouse experience, but the reality is you get micromanaged while being completely unsupported. TMG Yelp review On a scale of 1-5 TMG IS A NEGATIVE 5. Do NOT use them to manage your property. Shortly after TMG took over "managing" our duplex, we had a vacancy. It took 2 months to fill, costing us almost $15,000 in lost rent, expenses and fees. The only thing TMG manages is collecting the rent and charging fees. TMG had the rent way too high and did a very poor job of advertising - leaving out the amenities- AC, Fireplace, washer and dryer, private deck. There were no pictures for a couple of weeks. We had to tell them to lower the rent 2 times until it was finally competitive. Besides the 10% of the rent to "manage" the property, they charge "onboarding fees, termination fees, lease signing fees. There was an exorbitant fee for every "management" thing they did. The also charged us a "monthly insurance" fee - their insurance - not sure what for. It took weeks to schedule and accomplish the cleaning and repairs that were needed. No" for rent" sign was put up initially. This should be one of their policies. They put a keypad on the door and gave the combo out to "lookers" - no one was there to show it or make sure it was not vandalized. They refunded the vacating tenant their cleaning and damage deposit and then charged us exorbitant fees for extra cleaning. We knew of 2 potential renters when it became vacant. The process to "qualify" to see it was so overwhelming that they gave up trying to consider it. TMG gave the tenants a list of things to "winterize". Such as change furnace filters, plug crawl space vents - things that should be "managed" were given to tenants to accomplish. Several of these tasks could produce liabilities if done incorrectly. Task we would never expect tenants to do. TMG was very slow to respond to the tenants - they were unhappy. We had to call TMG ourselves. This duplex is a very desirable rental in a convenient location with a great floor plan and is well maintained. We have owned it for 22 years. We have never had more than a two-week vacancy. RUN DON'T WALK AWAY FROM TMG. read more

They were sending a maintenance tech out to our place right after I left for work and my husband called me asking if I knew they were coming (they DID NOT let us know at all yesterday, or the day before??? Even though they LEGALLY require at least a 24hour notice of entry) and will charge you if you don't have your pet kenneled up. The last time they did this they charged us $100 for our dog barking and not being "contained in a kennel, etc)" and they didn't even come inside... we again had no prior warning of them even coming. So this second time I was like oh hell no they aren't about to charge me another $100 for THEM BEING DUMB and not communicating between their own departments. Like are they stupid?? Do they communicate between departments or just send maintenance out willy nilly to people's homes and then charge them when their dogs bark??? This company collectively may have two brain cells running the entire business. RED FLAGS everywhere since the MOMENT we moved in. They do not address any issues with our horrible neighbors, took us practically BEGGING them to come and fix our ceiling after a roof leak, which they also refused to acknowledge. Honestly not really a single assistant manager or manager gives a flying fuck about any tenant's or even the poor peoples buildings that they manage. 100% they will try and fuck you over. TMG properties to start with was really nice the longer you live in one of their the worst they get, we were living in one of their almost 2 years almost the end of two years. The air conditioner broke was in the middle summer. We asked them to get it fixed, but they were dragging their not getting it fixed finally we really needed to get it fixed before it got really hot and then we were told that we broke it and that we had to get it fixed, which we didn't break it talking to other tenants and other buildings of TMG they do this, if something breaks like the air conditioner washer dryer that are already in the building that they own. They will try to force you to fix it. We have talked to many tenants and that is their game. They are not a good company to rent from. They don't care about the tenants. Their equipment is so do you really take a chance and live in their properties that they don't take care of, but yet they want you to fix it with your own money instead of theirs. read more

These people and the apartment complexes that use TMG are straight thieves. They will charge you 2x your monthly rate to move out unless you can time your move perfectly, which nearly no one can do. This is how they rake in tons of free money from their Renters (victims). My rent was 1600 a month and I couldn't time my move out well enough because home buying process isn't a precise science, so TMG charged me 3200 dollars for the move out. What was this money covering? The apartment was occupied again within a few weeks of me leaving. It was left in nearly perfect condition. I was also charged 90 dollars for unnecessary carpet cleaning fees. I did not get any deposit money back. TMG's grimy modus operandi is akin to mafia tactics with their arbitrary ridiculous fees which only seem to line pockets while strong-arming renters. TOP NOTCH EXPERIENCE! This was our very first time using The Management Group (TMG) and we hired them for tenant placement, not full service management. We currently manage our property right after tenants are placed. During my first inquiry into TMG Tara Jackson thoroughly answered all our questions and we immediately decided to go with TMG because we were already impressed. Tara then got us started in the process. Joseph Olen, a TMG Business Development Coordinator, took over from there. Joseph was so organized, knowledgeable and professional as well as patient and courteous. I always knew where we were in the process because he sent weekly updates but he also contacted us other times as needed. We felt overwhelmed before we hired TMG--our tried and true contractors either retired or moved. Our anxiety went away quickly because Joseph swiftly obtained numerous quotes for us to choose from as well as asked us what tasks we wanted to do ourselves. I found that to be an honest business practice and we appreciated it! Joseph set us up with the TMG portal where payments and more took place. While our rental was being repaired and painted we sometimes called TMG with comments or questions. TMG staff always made us feel welcome, not a bother, and the matter was resolved in a timely fashion. We take pride in our property and believe it's the right thing to maintain all aspects of it--to keep our neighborhood beautiful and to ensure that our tenants have an inviting, safe and functioning home. TMG never made us feel like we were too picky--that's because they also have high standards! We were partners in getting our home ready for new tenants. The supervisor Michelle Villamara also did a wonderful job as did the staff answering the phone and emails. I've already recommended TMG to my friends who self manage. Bait and switch. I applied for a rental at $1200, next day they approved me while raising it to $1295. Refused to honor the original rent amount or refund the application fee (the honorable thing to do). Honor aside, they stated that refunding it "when that's not available to all applicants is a violation of the Fair Housing Act." I pointed out that they previously publicly refunded an application fee (from another 1-star review, see attached). Still no refund... sounds like a Fair Housing Act violation. I resorted to a credit card chargeback due to misrepresentation, which they still fought. Are times that bad these days that this is the hill they want to die on? This company is tied with Affinity PropertyManagement for hands down winners of THE LACKING IN INTEGRITY, ETHICS, & HUMANITY!!! I lost EVERYTHING I owned from 42 years of my life including my dad's ashes in a corrupt and illegally optioned eviction that took place while I was fleeing domestic violence. I informed TMG that I was staying in a domestic violence shelter and fleeing domestic violence. I explained my things were all still in a rental they managed and gave them a way to contact me. When I learned that "all tenants" were receiving an eviction, I on the advice of an attorney, requested my things be stored and I would pay storage costs, as the Washington state law allows me to request. The person still in charge of the accounting dept. today, was whom I talked to. She told me, "your things were disposed of yesterday," They're already gone, then hung up on me! And refused to answer any of my calls following this. I knew this was a lie and my things were still in the house as the house was locked and tagged that day by the sheriff. I continue sending emails, making calls, trying to get access to my life's belongings and my father's ashes. Then, not 7 days after I was told my belongings had just been taken to the dump. My things began to pop up on fb marketplace. I called a seller of a lot of my belongings that I had undeniable proof were mine and appealed to his heart and conscious and disclosed my story. He confided to me that the President of TMG and that same woman in charge of fiscal, had hired him along with two helpers to pack up and remove my things from the home, AFTER TMG told me my belongings were disposed of and BEFORE TMG was legally entitled to do so. He went on to tell me he was paid $20/hour and told to, "take whatever you want, then pack and load the rest for transport to the dump!" Even that was a lie, TMG, in their box truck, instead donated the rest to GOODWILL on 65th and Andreson. Where I had a truly heart wrenching anxiety attack finding out. In found out while there shopping for a coat with money donated, because I left for the dv shelter wearing only a tank, jeans, and flip flops, ff that broke walking (running really) to the safe choice location. I took nothing with me but my service dog. I did not get a coat that day, just a trip to the hospital and a mental health session. I was heartbroken when I saw the nearly the entire clothing section size small was my belongings. Every where I looked saw my things. And when I asked about family photos, my dad's ashes, my prescription classes,I was told all of those things were shredded and thrown away days before, and the trash had just been picked up. I lost it. This was in 2019, and not a day goes by that I don't cry over it. I spent three years fighting many injustices that took precedence over this, but I haven't forgotten and this fight is still on my list of injustices to fight!!! read more

RENT FROM THESE PEOPLE IF YOU WANT TO BE SHOWERED IN DOG PEE AND BLEACH WATER! My boyfriend recently moved in with me after living in a property managed by TMG in Vancouver. While it is quite lovely to have him, he hurried up to leave because for FOR TWO YEARS HE HAD DOG PEE RAINING DOWN ON HIM FROM THE BALCONY ABOVE. Literally URINE. Terrible neighbors upstairs made their dog pee on their balcony. And about once a month, they would douse it with bleach water and he would have BLEACH WATER MIXED WITH DOG PEE RAINING DOWN ON HIM FROM THE BALCONY ABOVE. He reported it again and again and again and again. Some managers responded and it would get better for a little while. Then it would start again. And again. And again. He sent videos. And he showed them. And he called when it was literally happening at that moment and they could walk over 40 feet from the office and see (and smell) the pee drips. In fact, the painters they hired stopped work because of how nasty the balcony was but they didn't did anything substantive about it then either. And they churned through managers over and over and the new ones would often say they had no notes or documentation about THE URINE RAINING DOWN and their "response" would start again from scratch. FOR TWO YEARS! I had my own terrible experience with TMG which felt like getting peed on but my boyfriend actually and literally was. Terrible Management Company for Owners. They will not watch your property and allow it to go into disrepair and then only provide you with a fraction of the cost to get it back to where it should be. They will ignore your emails for days and not return your phone calls. Sergio Guerrero was my initial contact who was assigned to me, until he refused to answer my calls or respond to my emails. I finally had to reach out to upper management to get some communication going about the final steps and was then assigned Shelby Balogh as my property contact who also inevitably started ignoring my emails and calls only to tell me she was "too busy" to respond to me. Wow. Really? Property ownership IS an investment. These people will spit on your investment and treat you poorly while doing it. DO NOT TRUST THEM. Deplorable customer service coupled with a complete lack of empathy for the owner of the house they are making money off of. There was a hole left in the ceiling of my garage and they wouldn't provide any monetary compensation because when THEY first took THEIR property photos, they didn't have a 360 camera and so they couldn't prove it wasn't there already - and to be certain - it wasn't! :( They allowed my roof to go 2 years without any moss treatment or cleaning and being in the PNW you know that is huge. Cost me over another $2000 in cleaning and gutter repair due to the clogs and moss growth. When I asked why they let it get so bad, Sergio said "unless it is reported to me it needs repair, I don't think about it".... ??????? The tenant was responsible for maintaining the landscaping and neglected to do ANYTHING to it for the 2 years they were there. The clean up cost alone was over $7500... the grass was destroyed, weeds everywhere, plants killed.... TMG said their landscaper said he would get it back to where it was for $1500, but they NEVER would provide me with a breakdown of what he would do and I provided them with three quotes from legit landscapers in town who said it would cost anywhere from $6000-$8000 to get it back just to where it was. We had to sell the property and couldn't wait for TMG to do the work. I had to go with a landscaper I trusted and knew what they would do. In the end, Shelby would only verbally give me a breakdown of the landscaper's quote (still never sent me any copy to view myself) and said they wanted to just fix the grass with seed and not sod.... WOW...that is some great curb appeal... DIRT AND SEED? I cannot tell you how disappointed I am and was in their negligence to maintain our property and their willful ignorance of my questions as the owner. Absolutely. The. Worst. read more

Requested the form and they did not send me the form for over a week. We had a tree fall on a corner of the house, that we notified them about twice the year before. They canceled the repair order. They never fixed the gutter. Stove went out, took 2 weeks to get a new one. Had a plumbing issue where water was turned off and they did nothing. We had a good experience up until our move-out final accounting was done. We were assigned a new assistant property manager who did not tell us the full scope of breaking our lease and thus charged us an additional 30 days of rent after we moved out in addition to the lease break fee. I tried communicating with her and the property manager but they are not interested in taking accountability for their actions and we are stuck with paying for a month's rent for a place we did not live in. This company showed its true colors and lack of integrity when it came to charging for additional rent from it's tenants. We feel wronged and I hope others do not experience the same issue which is why I am sharing this review. In reply to Erin- that is false, I was not informed to give proper notice. This is the root to my complaint and if I had been informed when I first inquired with my newly appointed assistant manager, all of this would have been avoided. We did read our lease and when the instructions for breaking a lease were too vague, I did my due diligence by reaching out and was only told about the 1.5 lease break, nothing more. Even when I did move out, I was not informed about it. This is the problem. If this is a policy for your company then why did the assistant manager NOT tell me about it? read more

This is the worst rental agency I have ever worked with. I have rented from them for around 3 years. I have always had lackluster communication when I have had issues with my rental unit. Recently, my water has had a strong smell of eggs. I made a maintenance request a month ago requesting a water quality test. My rental unit has a well. I have not been contacted by anyone in the office during that month. I have called every few days to the front office and continue to get the run around. No one who is in charge of my unit is available to talk. I get promises to be called back with no follow through. This has not been the first time I have had issues of maintenance requests being ignored. This is the first time it's been about my literal drinking water. They have terrible business practices, I think it was a year and a half ago they told me that I should duct tape my screens to the trim of my windows because they didn't fit. Ohmigosh, I couldn't belive it. They said they would come fix them and they came and fixed two of the 12 of them. I just gave up on that one. That is how hard it is to get them to do anything. During this time, they have sent me a new lease agreement since mine is up soon. They are raising my rent while my water is possibly not safe to drink. Raising my rent for the worst customer service I have ever experienced. All I want is to know is my water safe to drink. I have a friend who used TMG for the management of his rental house. Wow did they ever drop the ball. Tenant turned into a hoarder (dead animals and all). If they would have been doing checks like they are supposed to, this would never have happened. Having to spend $80K to rehab the entire house, top to bottom. The backyard, which was like a beautiful park, with paths and a fire pit, and horseshoe pit, was completely overgrown and never tended to, and TMG was PAID to keep the yard in shape. BEWARE folks, I wouldn't use these guys to manage my underwear drawer, let alone a $500K+ property. read more

I was right to call this company out on their bullshit. It's almost impossible to get a hold of management especially when there's an emergency. Rent is still impossible to keep up with because this company is so greedy. All they care about is money and they see tenants as nothing more than dollar signs. Just recently, I got another 14 day notice and I just contacted Northwest Justice Project and I want to let our manager here at T Street Apartments know that I'm doing everything I can to keep my home even though I hate where I live and I hate our management because I'm kinda stuck here right now. I have right to be angry with our management because of how incompetent they are. I even made a couple attempts to flag down our maintenance guy and he just flat out ignores me. I am so fed up with this horrible treatment. There is no reason for rent to be this high. There needs to be a moratorium and we need it to happen now. Homelessness is way out of control and I don't want to end up that way. There needs to be accountability for this and this cannot continue. It needs to end now. I have dealt with a staff on several occasions after living in this rental for 4 years. I am a great tenant and hardly ask for anything. I am a very well educated and prominent member of this community and in the community of other properties that I own in California and Arizona. A Staff speaks to me like I am an uneducated idiot and she is degrading and what I consider disrespectful. This behavior from a manager to me is unacceptable and really needs to be looked at by Management. I have owned maintenance companies in the past that solely did work for Property Management Companies . I have been in Law Enforcement for over 30 years and a Veteran. Horrible and misleading..... Rented a home in WA for 5 1/2 years. They had a large amount of monies for our security deposit and we have been out of the home for nearly a month and they will not speak with us regarding our deposits. They are not on the renters side in regards to items needing repaired. Our AC broke 3 years ago and they would not fix it nor approach the homeowner to tell them to get it fixed. Gutters were leaking, rusted with holes and not fixed, house was literally falling apart and nada was done. Then, 17 hrs before we leave some chick stops by unannounced at nearly 7pm and wants to hand us a letter stating the they are the new property management company for this home and now we have to go thru them for our move out checklist. WTF?! My lease was still in effect, signed through TMG, not this other POS company. Now TMG wont return my calls for my deposit, itemized list of what I was charged, if anything....nor with the "new" management company talk to me either. Guess its time to get a lawyer. Stay away from them...actually RUN away. read more

If you care about your money, stay away from this company. They are dishonest and under professional. We left our apartment spotless, even their our person who inspected the place couldn't find any thing. The gave us less than half of our deposit back. They charged us 165 cleaning fee when they couldn't find a drop on the floor. I'm beyond being upset! When my husband called to get our money back they said they would ask someone higher since it was in a condition better than we moved in and they agreed to refund us. A month later, we still haven't any money so we called again and they said we miss understood, they won't refund. Anyway, I'm glad we are out but I'm hoping people will stand up to them. read more

So far it has been good! We applied for an apartment and within 2 days we heard back from them! I would recommend them.

SHADY AF! So overall it's an experience to work with the management group. They have some decent employees but their policies suck. First issue: exorbitant deposit amounts. Thankfully we were able to either afford them or reduce them but still sticker shock when getting information about how much we need to deposit. Second Issue: professionalism. They're main people are not professional. They text instead of call or email. Also they promised certain things would be taken care of because there were some issues with the paint when we moved in. This never got fixed. As well as some general maintenance issues. When we called two months later to ask when painters would be in(they told us they'd be by about a week after our move-in date) the person asked if it was in writing. We explained that when reviewing the photos our property manager(who happened to have the great sense of leaving this management group) had stated that some of the painting wasn't completed and would be. Anyways there's a lot more to that than I would rather divulge. Lastly: SHADY SHADY SHADY SHADY!!! When we finalized our move out and got our deposit back there was a charge for $2000 on it. I got it on a Saturday so I had to wait until Monday to get the i formation as to why we had a $2000 charge. Turns out the accountant was off by two decimals and it was only supposed to be $20. BIG DIFFERENCE. Honestly if people get back their deposits and see a huge amount like that CALL THEM. I'm sure they're hoping you miss it because you only have 30 days to review it and challenge any of the charges. RUN FROM THEM. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM. IT ISNT WORTH IT read more

To say I am disappointed with the services provided by TMG would be an understatement. I should preface that for the most part, most of the people seem lovely when you talk to them, but my recommendation continues to be that you run, not walk, but run from this property management company. I have never written a review, good or otherwise, but I feel so strongly about this matter that I feel it is important to share so that others are not cursed to this fate. And with TMG, I now understand why Oregon has such strict landlord/tenant laws. The list of issues is a long one, so I'll try and sum it down. For the application process, the lease, and the move-in requirements that they needed to do required us reminding them that they needed to do it. The communication issue is by far the worst I have ever seen in any business. We email, double email, call and absolutely get ignored constantly. It's at this rate that we don't even bother emailing, we go straight to calling. And even when calling about matters they need to sort out, it's a headache to get our property manager on the phone. The big kicker for us is that they advertised that our property had A/C, our application stated it had A/C. We go to the property, there's a central A/C system on the wall, the circuit has a switch labeled A/C. We put in a maintenance request to get a third party A/C tech to check out why the A/C isn't working, two weeks out due to availability. When the A/C tech gets here, it takes them five minutes to tell us that we don't have A/C. We contact TMG immediately. They say they'll contact you. They don't, not until you contact them to remind them. They then proceed to tell me that they'll look into window A/C which is unlikely to happen because our windows are vertical. This is the same person that went through this property and took a lot of pictures, knowing that our windows are vertical. I tell them to call me immediately so we don't waste time doing things that lead no where, like having the A/C tech come out two weeks out. I even took the liberty to look through their reviews and see a number to call when others had issues with TMG. I call that number and they're all nice and everything, but the number you call leads to the front desk and there's not much they can do except forward the message over. I get told that I should get a response in a couple of days. It's been a couple of days. I call, they're aware of the issue and will forward the message again. So I BEG OF YOU. RUN. Don't look back. Quite literally nothing has worked out for us with TMG or this property. It smelled like a wet dog lived here which is evidenced by the dog hair they painted onto the walls. read more

I will consider our situation as dodging a bullet. First of all they we specifically told the women we wanted to view a 2bdrm townhouse but if we were not happy with that we'd consider looking at the 3bdrm on the same street. She sent me the info, we arrived, got inside and the place was disgustingly dirty and stunk terribly, we walked in a walked right back out. In addition they sent us to the 3bdrm, so the wrong unit) I called them and informed them, they apologized and then we had to wait an additional 3 hours to view the 2bdrm. We got there and although there were a few things needing tending to we decided we'd go ahead and apply. They never informed us there were any other applicants ahead of us. The application fee was more than I'd ever paid but figured we'd be approved since we met all their guidelines so it was worth $65 each ($130) in total. I called after 3 days and was informed that the woman in charge of our application was out sick and give it another day or 2, which was fine. But then yesterday my boyfriend and I received a text (not a phone call) basically telling us someone else put down a deposit and the unit we were interested in was no longer available but our application that they never ended up processing was good for 90 days if something else caught our eye. They took our money, never ran the application, and refused to give us back our money that they basically stole since it was never applied to anything. Feels very much like a scam and a good one at that. I'll attach the very unprofessional text that was sent with all the bad grammar included. If this is how they are just starting things out I couldn't imagine having to deal with them as my landlords. I reached out more than once and was basically told I'm out of luck.
