Absolutely awful. Brought truck in to replace full exhaust for 1100 dollars. Drove from Tahoe, got hotel the night before to drop car at 7:30 am. Car wasn't done until almost 3. Tnt did not install full exhaust that I paid for instead they took shortcut by cutting off at straightest part leaving 4 feet of rusted pipe going into the engine ( the most important part) and this would have been the most time consuming if done correctly. I was charged full price in labor when corners were cut and only 3/4 of the exhaust was installed . The shops owner lied to me saying their welder wasn't in that day to weld on the bolt on tip that was originally discussed yet if you can see the very poor weld that was left on my truck is just unacceptable. I immediately went to another shop who quoted me almost 300 times weld on tip and confirmed a new exhaust should have been ran all the way to engine.Shop owner did not want to compensate me for having other shop weld on tip. I have filed complaint with https://www.bbb.org/us/nv Mechanics like this shop have no business being in business taking money from hard working customers. About a year ago, I was told by another shop that my turbo was going out on my truck. Knowing I was going on a road trip this winter I wanted to get make sure the truck was in good working order. I asked for a recommendation from Reno Driveline and Gear who recently did some honest work on my front end. They sent me to TNT Automotive. I spoke with Nick who was very respectful. I made an appointment and was pleasantly surprised to find that my turbo was in good working order, I had an exhaust leak instead. This was very good news since it was about a fifth the cost. TNT is very honest and straight forward with their findings and NOT adding extra non-sense to make a buck. I highly recommend them and when my turbo finally goes out, they will have my business! I hate to give a bad review but I'm shocked at my experience. 2005 dodge 2500 diesel, I was having some surging issues and felt torque converter slipping. I had a check engine light on as well. I asked them to replace torque converter and look at check engine light. They told me they would also look at transmission to make sure it was solid. When I picked up truck I was told check engine light "must have been something about torque converter" and transmission looks great. Pulled out of shop and check engine light came back on, got back to house and transmission is leaking everywhere. I have called twice and left messages with no return call. Brought to a larger shop and am told the check engine light is and was a fuel issue, transmission is completely worn, and they don't believe the torque converter was replaced at all. Really bummed to be treated like this from a local small business. Hopefully others will have a more positive experience but mine was not. read more

I "cheated" on TNT my last service for my 2000 F350.....I won't ever do it again. The other shop didn't tighten my oil filter on tight enough and oil spewed all under my truck. I am very pleased with the honesty, timeliness and communication at TNT. I'm never pressured with an upsell for repairs and Nick takes the time to explain my service. I first took my 2000 Dodge Diesel (150K+ miles), back in 2008 for a new fuel injector pump. Considering the part was more at Kragen (by $500), than it cost to have them put it in including labor, I was stoked. By the way, Cummins repair shop down the street wanted $1200 more than TnT, I started taking my truck there for sensors replacement, and most recently a transmission. Every time, their cost have been low and the quality has been high. The best is when I take my truck there and they call to tell me it was just something so minor that it only cost one hour of time to get my truck running. Even better, my co-worker's truck stalled on him in Ely. He was able to get it running long enough to drive to Reno. He worked on it for about 3 weeks, and nothing. It still would stall on him. He took it to TnT, and they looked at, found the problem. The best part, it cost him one of labor. read more

My SUV was leaking bad from the water pump and I tried to get it in to my regular mechanic, but he was slammed. So I went to TNT on the recommendation from a good friend. BIG MISTAKE. They called me and said they did a pressure test and it was not the water pump but a cracked radiator, so I told them to go ahead and fix it then. I picked the truck up and they said they took for a test drive and all was good, no leaking. So over the weekend my car starting leaking bad again, from the water pump. So my husband and I went down there to talk to them and they were not kind to say they least, and just acted like we were bothering them. They finally said, "Look we did our job but I will give you the water pump at cost." Ya right, after that experience, and $550.00 dollars later like we were going to let them touch the vehicle again." So frustrating especially because we told them it was the water pump in the first place. I talked to my mechanic a few days later and he said that's bull, you can't pressure test a water pump........so I guess the moral to the story is good trusting service is worth waiting for. Next time I will definitely bring it to my mechanic, no matter how long the wait. read more

This place is horrible!!! Stay away. My husband dropped off his truck TWO years ago and they never did anything with it, so we had to sell it as is. They illegally parked the truck on the street. We were sent a ticket of $250, which my husband and I paid. We gave a copy of the bill to Tnt, but they NEVER reimbursed us for THEIR mistake. read more

All I can say is DON'T DO IT!! Do not use this company!! Got an injector job done for $4k then the truck started having problems with oil pressure a few months later. Took it back and after it sat at their shop for over 6 weeks and they said it need a fuel injector pump another $2500. One day after picking it up -oil pressure problems. Finally took it to a REAL mechanic and they told me it had cracked fuel injectors so I had to pay for another injector job. Another $4k and truck finally runs properly. Terrible My truck broke down in a parking lot and it wouldn't stay started so called triple A to jump start the truck. Well it wouldn't stay started and he said it was the alternator and the battery was fine so had to get a tow from triple A I called my boyfriend and asked where to take it he said TNT. Get it there they and the next day the truck was ready so we get there and I asked if it was the alternator no they put in a brand new battery. Well that lasted for 2 and a half days. Broke down in another parking lot so I called triple A again and I also called TNT to tell them it broke down he said put it in neutral and see what happens well gee that didn't do anything so I was pretty much sol with them so the guy from triple A said it was the alternator also so he jumped my truck so I could get it home well almost home and up a hill it lost all power and had to get over on the shoulder of the highway and wait to get towed again and he even said it was the alternator. Owner was very difficult to work with and VERY unprofessional. Front desk and technicians were friendly but I had a horrible experience and now have to find a reputable shop o fix the problems TNT caused... on my dime. read more

I have been taking my diesel pickups down the hill from Truckee to TNT Automotive for about 7 years now. In 2010 I made one of the biggest mistakes of my life, I purchased a used diesel pickup without letting Rick and the guys at TNT look at it first. As you may have guessed, I bought a lemon. I took it down to TNT Automotive and they confirmed that that engine block in the was toast. I could tell it was not the first time they had this conversation with a customer, and they were not happy to have to share the news. Rick took the time to review several options, pricing and risks associated with each one. Eventually after thinking it over for a few days we agreed that a used engine was the best route. Within 3 days(no joke) the engine was located, evaluated and installed. I am now several thousand miles and not one hick-up. The truck is running better than it ever was before. I can't recommend the guys at TNT enough, if you have a diesel vehicle in the Truckee/ Tahoe/ Reno/ Sparks area no one should be touching your truck except TNT. read more
