As a long-time Yelper, I'm used to taking charge when it comes to planning vacations. What's a…read moredouble black badge Yelp Elite to do when she can't use her trusty app/website to organize her honeymoon? Turn to Audley. A friend-of-a-friend recommended their services and I'm so glad we were able to connect. An African safari is the vacation of a lifetime and this isn't one of those trips where you wing it and hope for the best. Amy was my husband's and my primary contact, as she specializes in East African vacations. Each of Audley's employees has a specific geographic region that they focus on to maximize the client's experience. We had a few phone calls with Amy to discuss budget, length of trip, what we wanted to see/do/experience, and what to expect with such journey to another continent far, far away. Through Amy and Audley, we booked our flights through Qatar Airways, all of our overnight stays (we moved around Tanzania throughout our 2-week adventure), and she gave us a printed and e-version of our detailed itinerary. It wasn't a cheap vacation, but hey, we're not talking about a last-minute weekend getaway on points. Amy also checked in with us to make sure we had all the necessary visas, trip insurance, and immunizations ahead of time, even the week before our trip was to begin, we had a nice phone chat to go over everything and answer questions. During our trip, we had no issues! However, Audley had someone available on-call 24/7 in case there were questions regarding anything related to the planned trip. At one of our stays near Ngorongoro, they even arranged for us to have the "honeymoon" dome. In East Africa, Audley likes to work with Asilia properties and we loved the locations, the staff, and the food/drink. It was upper end luxe, but still felt like we were part of nature. We saw SO MANY animals (my #1 ask) and still found time to relax and enjoy Tanzania. I would love to return to Africa, maybe Kenya next time? And when booking a trip without Yelp, I would 10000% recommend Audley.

Audley Travel is, without a doubt, the worst organization I have ever dealt with. They absolutely…read morecannot be trusted. The entire experience was built on deception. Their specialists will tell you one thing, lie to your face, and then come back later with completely different details. No one in that office seems to know what is actually going on, and the lack of transparency is staggering. What makes it worse is how they deliberately protect themselves from their own incompetence. They force you to sign a "terms and conditions" contract before doing any actual work with you. Once they fail to deliver on their promises, they hide behind that legal paperwork. No matter what verbal agreements or assurances their specialists give you, they will simply tell you it doesn't matter because of what you already signed. To make matters worse, they completely refuse to provide actual, itemized receipts or invoices from the airlines, hotels, or other third-party vendors. This is clearly just a tactic to cover up massive hidden fees and markups they are charging you behind the scenes. Avoid Audley Travel at all costs. They are deceitful, disorganized, and completely untrustworthy.

THIS is THE place to go for traveling to JAPAN…read more I booked a trip to Japan in the middle of my summer back at home in the SF Bay Area. Luckily, i found a round trip ticket for just under three weeks to Tokyo from SF for under a grand. Still, I wanted to backpack through Japan, visit at least 4-5 cities, and fit everything into a modest budget. After some research online (and Japanese tourism has awesome research available), I stumbled upon IACE travel. The staff is SO nice. Honestly, I had no idea what I was doing, and the girl that helped me out Ritsuko, sat with me for about 40 mins going through various sample trips and agendas, despite the fact that I had not bought a single thing! She walked me through where to eat, where to stay, how long to be there....just awesome. I walked in needing a JR Rail Pass, and when I got down to it, she was so efficient and helpful in getting me one. And I walked out with it. Even after, I emailed her my ideas and she helped me plan my trip around them. After the trip, my 17 days visiting Tokyo, Hiroshima, Kyoto, Osaka, Kobe, Sendai, Yokohama, Nara, and Mt. Fuji were amazing. And even though I could have gotten the JR pass somewhere else, I don't think I could have gotten better advice and trip planning help than here.

I looked all year at the rise and non-fall of ticket prices to Tokyo. Her Tokyo wedding is in Jan. So, when Nov., Dec, rolled around, I felt like a bad planner. Who knew (well, perhaps baby Jesus knew?) that on Dec. 25th bored at my families gathering- I would click the link to find "round trip airfare to Tokyo Jan 3rd to Feb (something or other) $500*plus fuel!" This was cheaper than the $860-$1200 tickets I stalked all year round. The total came to $740 for a Jan. 17Th-Jan 27Th (Thurs- Sun) visit. I must declare that In my last minutes of planning there could be no deal finer. * will be updated after flight experience, potential problem's, etc...... **4 stars and not 5, why? because 5 stars would be a free ticket.

OK, I finally wrote it,…read moreexposing my "secret fishing spot" to the whole world. 8) That's right, I've been using Far East for many years, whenever I want a good deal. Often, I would plan a trip with a large group, and several of us would get quotes from our own travel agents. I think Wendy has beaten the others every single time. But even more than a cheap price, Wendy has seriously *SAVED OUR SKINS" in those times of desperation no one expects. When Hurricane Sandy hit, shutting down Logan, I worked with Wendy to get to a very important trip by re-routing our tickets through Cleveland, and then Chicago. Long story, but we rented a car and drove to Cleveland, but their airport also shut down while we were en route, and so we continued driving to Chicago, in order to catch a new flight that Wendy arranged. Recently, the shooting at LAX closed that airport and prevented 6 friends of mine from coming to Boston, and Wendy was the only one who found a new set of tickets on the same airline, at an airport no one thought of using. Several times, I showed Wendy what I found on Kayak or Orbitz and asked her if I should even use Far East, and she says without hesitating NOT to use Far East and that for many simple round trip flights, it's cheapest online - I like honesty. I have no other connection with Far East other than having stumbled upon them years ago and been very happy since. I was googling their mailing address when I was shocked to see the lone negative review. I felt I had to respond with my personal experience. I am not saying anything against the previous reviewer, but only sharing what I know. I encourage him to compare prices against Far East Travel (founded 7 years before the more popular FETI - hence the name clash is FETI's fault!). So, I am risking my unfettered access to Wendy by inviting others to crowd me out...but I felt it was just wrong and unfair to leave Far East with a single negative review.

I knew exactly what I wanted for flights, times, airports, airplanes, etc. I'm only giving them 2 stars because they responded to me immediately. They just returned my email with flights, no introduction, no "hi, my name is", nothing. They just kept emailing one flight after another with zero attempt at any pleasantries or interaction. Each flight was crazy expensive or not what I asked for. I asked twice that they call me and provided my number, yet they continued to just email flights. Then, they just stopped all together. Lazy, cold, unprofessional, and ignorant. I found them on Google, that's how businesses are found by new potential customers. Let them cater to their regulars, obviously they don't care to earn new customers.
