I could never have imagined how glorious the color and design would look with the interior of the main room at Laguna Gloria (and I thought it would look great). But the best part was that it was utterly, utterly delicious. The frosting was so decadent. The cake itself was freshly baked and perfectly moist. So many of our guests made a point of telling my husband, my mother, and me how much they loved the cakes, especially the bride's cake. (I will come back and post a photo of the cakes. Gorgeous!) In fact, the cakes were so good, no one really mentioned the dinner, which the caterer and I had spent a lot of time planning. Julie and Heike were delightful to work with. They made me two sample cakes when I first met with them, and when I asked her for a fork for "the road," Julie advised me to wait until I got home to relax and taste them. Well, I got to the exit to their parking lot before I had stuck my fingers into the sample bride's cake and was eating it out of my hand like a raccoon would. Delicious. After the wedding, the groom and I took the six huge boxes of leftover food from dinner and gave them to a homeless man on a bench on S. Congress on our way back to our hotel, but we refused to share the cake. We took the top (which we were supposed to put in the freezer and save for a year, I think) of the cake into our honeymoon suite and ate half of it. With our hands. Classy, right?

The employee was polite, very informative. It's a cute little shop, bathroom was in a separate building, not a far walk. The audacity Story time, Today I went to the original Round Rock location, downtown Round Rock, to buy my son's birthday donuts, It's tradition. Every year on his birthday he gets a dozen half glazed and half chocolate frosted donuts. Then I get a kolache and a dozen donut holes for myself. Well when I pulled up today the line was wrapped around all the way to Mays street. So I just followed the line of cars and got in line. You'd think that a line that long would take a long time but.... Round Rock donuts has this process down to a T. It took less than 10 minutes to get through that line and get my order. And those donuts came out hot and fresh. So did my kolache. Anywho, Don't let the lines scare you away, Just jump in and know they're going to move quickly. Also, If you're planning an office event or any type of event and you want donuts and coffee or kolaches donuts and coffee, Round Rock donuts offers a great menu for large orders and also they have a cake menu for custom cake orders. If you don't want to stay in line in your car you can also park wherever you can find a spot and go to the walk-up ordering window, It's shaded and there's plenty of space to hang out while your order is being made and brought out to you. Today I showed up about 6:20 am and bought 9 dozen glazed. Per habit, I opened a box before driving off, anticipating the melting in your mouth experience I treasure. But the donut I chomped was ... COLD. I checked my other boxes too--every donut cold. Shockingly, a store employee told me it's the bakery's practice to give chilled donuts to customers because that preserves them longer. That's not for me, I replied, and the store swapped out my coldies for delightfully warm replacements. I hope the employee was wrong about this cold donut "practice."

I had a ton of questions, and she was patient, quick to answer and never made me feel like an imposition. I didn't have any solid ideas for cake, so I asked her to just go with a general theme and she KNOCKED. IT. OUT. OF. THE. PARK. Exceeded expectations would be an understatement. In addition to being amazing to work with, creating beautiful work, this cake and these cupcakes were.... DELICIOUS! I am so thankful we found Millie P's Sweets! We will be ordering all of our cakes from here, and I highly recommend.
