But I got that and more when I called about sharpening my lawn mower blade. This place is a gem and so is Kenneth, the proprietor and a former chef. He knows his stuff, and shared anecdotes about Anthony Bourdain, whose portrait is on the wall. There are so many cool things to see here. I got my kitchen knives sharpened as well and it all only set me back about 48 bucks. When you need to find "old Austin" go see Kenneth and get your blades professionally cared for.

They sharpened our 6 favorite knives within 1hr and they were done perfectly. I don't know if this is good or bad (ironically, it's good thing!) but my dad was cutting potatoes and knicked himself slightly and bled. This guy knows what he is doing. If you want sharp, you will get sharp! The other thing that stands out is that I delivered the knives loosely and when he returned them to us, he had them wrapped neatly in newspaper and taped nice and clean. He understands safety first. This company knows what they are doing. Lastly, my mother cut a loaf of bread with her newly sharpened knife and she said it sliced through entire loaf with one swift motion.. like butter. These guys know knives…read more The trailer is at Tractor Supply about once a month, maybe more. Check his website for the schedule. If there's not a crowd, you can stand and watch them at work, and they're a couple of pros. They use a standard kitchen knife bevel, but, if your blade needs a different angle, they figure it out without being told and adjust. It's a three stage process, which is excellent, and they work quickly to produce a very credible sharpness (I could shave hair on my forearm). But listening to them talk is an education. One of my German blades needed a different angle, and they caught that and talked about it. And they recognize quality in the knives they're working on. I have one Japanese knife (bought in Japan) that I am particularly fond of. Without a word from me, they knew it was Japanese and the city where it was made and purchased, and they admired it. Like I said. These guys know knives. And it's only $5 a blade. Lotta expertise for a bargain basement price.
