Came here with my wife for my birthday brunch. What a different space from Mindy's Antique Mart! High ceiling with exposed beams, interspersed faux brick (so what?) with Chip and Jo shiplap abound. VERY spacious with a variety of seating options including large, half-moon banquets along the back wall. Steampunk accents. Hip, young crew with a very friendly vibe. The joint was packed on a random Thursday morning. A little on the loud-side but the high ceilings seemed to absorb most of the noise. James (formerly of Brickhouse fame) was there. It's been forever since I've seen the dude but he still has the same engaging personality and welcoming laugh and smile. Besides being the manager (I assume), he could also be spotted wiping down tables and chairs when needed. Lead by example, right? There are a few craft beers available in bottles and an interesting cocktail menu. Next time, I'll try the Sriracha Bloody Mary. The coffee was fine. It did come in GIANT mugs and the servers were attentive to give you refills. Water tasted funny but, then again, like a large hamster, I've just been drinking bottled water. The food, I thought, was excellent. It's a tad pricey but you get your money's worth! I ordered the Cuban... uh, Delight? Especial? Cigar? Mark Cuban? Whatever it was named, the portion was HUGE and the meal was delicious! The hash browns were crunchy on the outside but pleasantly soft on the inside- perfectly done. Salty, smoky pulled pork and ham were topped with poached eggs. Rupture them. You must. And marvel in culinary lasciviousness as you watch the yolk ooze down over your entire messy meal like cholesterol-laden lava. Perfect! As you may know, I am not fond of sharing. If you want some of my meal, well, you chose poorly and should have ordered that instead of whatever you got. But this thing is truly big enough to share with another person. I did my best but it was so big, I could not take it down. I am so ashamed. So forget the usual greasy spoon. If you're in Patchogue (or even if you aren't, DRIVE down here!) hit up Toast. I went for breakfast a few months ago with my husband but forgot to review it until now- The place was actually good for a few reason ...I love the space which was large open and airy- rustic and a little industrial and lots of really cool art. Super bustling and loud for this brunch, and the wait staff were awesome and crazy fast. Really the only thing that fell short was MY actual food; granted I am sure a basic breakfast cant be that messed up so I can not say that as I was there specifically because I spotted "tofu scramble" on the menu online. Man....what a disappointment... I really wanted to get up, walk into the kitchen and teach the chef what to do to hit it out of the park but...We cant do things like that can we? It was big chunks of semi firm (to soft for this dish) tofu. The spinach and other veggies in the tofu scramble including the tofu had ZERO SALT. It also had no seasoning really to speak of. Then the home fries had almost to much seasoning. I mixed it with the home fries, added some salt and pepper and forked the big square white tofu chunks into smaller scrambled egg comparable pieces. It was edible then. Edible and MEH. Look unless you are a vegan and you are on the hunt for a delectable vegan breakfast you don't have to cook yourself for once but can enjoy with your non vegan friends, this review does not say much. It was one dish. Everything else was great- my husband loved his food, the place was clean and esthetically pleasing, the waitress was a sweety pie... Just wish some place knew how to do a real, savory badass tofu scramble. I really should open a breakfast place for people like me. I just put it out of my mind after that....they only lose 1 star because otherwise the place is awesome and I bet the other food is just fine from what I saw. read more

I had my 11 year old son with me and I had to leave TOAST and go to the library to use the ladies room. Would have been a major inconvenience if I had my younger one there. My friend and I came to Toast Coffeehouse of Bayshore for lunch. We both decided to have breakfast. I LOVED that when I ordered tea, they gave me a huge mug. I ordered the Apple Strudel French Toast. We ordered for a veggie burger with avocado, avocado BLT omlette, shrimp burrito and banana walnut pancakes. Food was really good taste wise. I'd say proportion needs to be checked but not bad for sure. Omlette was a little on greasy side due to mix of cheese and avocados but nevertheless a must try for sure. My wife who is a vegetarian loved the veggie burger and I also enjoyed that for a change. The rye toast that came along with omlette already had butter applied but I'd prefer butter on the side probably something the server can provide as an option. Two words: Steampunk Coffee. This is the best coffee I have ever had. The chicory is that makes this coffee so perfect and I seriously can not get enough. I've had several items from their menu whether it be breakfast, brunch, or lunch I couldn't find a bad thing to say. Omelette are amazing and so their vegan French toast. Hands down my favorite vegan dish. Their seasonal specials are wonderful too. I love sitting at their bar and reading a book, having a cup of steampunk coffee, and a wonderful meal. When I revisit Patchogue, there always seem to be new places popping up and some that just don't make it in the time when I'm away. Toast seems to be one of the keepers and the food's quite good. Like others have mentioned, management could be better. I've never seen such long wait times for a restaurant with these characteristics. Get an app on that or something, or just take reservations. People get salty on those long lines too, we were waiting in the back once and then got called up. There was someone ahead of us asking about something, then we went to get our table afterwards. Behind me, some guy starts audibly grumbling about people starting new lines/cutting. While I blame that guy for being a grump, a system without people unorganizedly hanging around and being able to misinterpret things would be nice. read more
