    Stuffed French Toast

Walked into this cutesy brunch spot right around mid morning during a weekday. No wait and sat right away. Oddly enough, we only saw our waiter a handful of times, and even after getting our food he hurried away so we had to wave him down to let them know one of the orders was wrong. Downfall to middle of the week brunch, less waiters? Not sure but not impressed with service. Veggie has and French toast were pretty but 3/5 for taste. Decent taste , did not care for the frisée adds absolutely nothing to this dish and neither did the passion fruit caramel for the French toast. It was agreed that it added an odd sour taste to the dish but not in a good way. The iced latte and mocha were somewhat bland. Again, cute place with nice atmosphere but food nor service was impressive.

What a gem! We stumbled upon this and so glad we did. About mid morning on a Saturday, my party of 4 was immediately sat. Service was decent and the crowd was pretty large. This restaurant is full of vibes. It's cozy, clean, and welcoming. We ordered the red velvet pancakes, chilaquiles, and kids chocolate chip pancakes. All phenom! I'll be back Mother's Day weekend as my choice location. Glad to add this in the rotation!! Plenty of parking, right off the trolley. Clean restrooms.

The placement of seats is interesting as there is an inside patio and then an indoor eating area. There is an open kitchen so you can see what the chefs are doing along with a bar. The server was attentive and was prompt in taking my drink and food order. I loved seeing the green plants and the fact there were no TVs. The dish I tried was the Sammy sandwich, which was a first for me and garlic potatoes. Both were amazing and I look forward to going back again.

Easter Sunday was a delightful breakfast with delicious coffee and chai latte. We enjoyed French toast, stuffed French toast both with delicious sausage and Bacon Bennie. Layered with bacon, asparagus, nicely poached eggs covered in hollandaise with a balsamic drizzle. Restaurant was airy and pleasant with comfortable seats. Great attentive servers Nom,nom, nom, nom, nom! That's is 5 noms!

First time here and would definitely return. Crispy chicken and pancakes 3/5 Pancakes were a little dry and the chicken was a little dry as well but not too bad. Chilaquiles 4/5 Lots of flavor, great portion, lacked a little meat but overall would order again Denver-ish Scramble 3/5 Best part was the round potatoes, so tasty and good. Lacked flavor, didn't have much flavor. The toast was decent. Our waiter provided great service and was very welcoming. Lots of seating as well, loved how nice the place was and will definitely return!

We did a walk-in on a Sunday morning and got seated almost immediately. Food was delicious!!! Be prepared for an abundance amount of food here because it is generous in portions. The price of each plate does meet up to the generous portion. I ordered the avocado toast along with the shrimp and grits and I ended up having to take them home. I'm a big fan of shrimp and grits so this one for me is a bit more creamier than usual and as I am lactose, it didn't sit too well with me. Overall was good, but I would have liked to taste more of the grits itself. It also had sausages in it. The mocha and mimosa were also amazing. The decors were beautiful inside and out with a little bit of 1950s vibes with nice floral with indoor and outdoor seating for your furry friends. Our waitress was so warm and nice and brought everything we needed. Highly recommend.

    The Breakfast Quesadilla

Toasted is a cute brunch venue with lots of outdoor and indoor seating. However, the food was unimpressive and not memorable. The passion fruit iced tea was bland, and the grilled cheese was so crispy it was tough on the mouth. The pancakes were tasty and hit the spot, but I much preferred them with maple syrup rather than the spicy breakfast syrup it was served with. This also led the dish to be less cohesive, which is on me, but it did feel like hot chicken tenders and, separately, pancakes. The breakfast quesadilla was stuffed full of breakfast items and filling, though nothing to write home about. Toasted is filling a need for cute brunch spots in this area, but there are plenty other brunch spots in San Diego with food that we found more worthwhile.

They don't take reservations on the weekend and we were a group of 8. We waited 45 minutes and then checked in to see how much longer. We were told they only had 2 tables that could accommodate a group that size and we would have to wait for those groups to get up. We asked if they could push 2 empty tables that were next to each other together and they then sat us. Food was delicious and $25 bottomless mimosas were great!

My very first time trying any toast and it was amazing. The lobster toast had so many flavors going on I could not stop eating it. I've seen many toasts on many menus trying the smoked salmon and lobster opened a new window for me. Don't get me started on the breakfast quesadilla. This thing was fantastic and huge. The meat mixed with egg had so much flavor. I loved the way it came with pico and guacamole. It's big enough to share. Lastly the red velvet pancake was the perfect end to our meal. This whole meal was a treat. I enjoyed our service from the minute we got our drinks. The restraunt itself is beautiful so trendy the booths are nice and cozy with plenty of room. Can't wait to come back and try Sunday brunch with some girlfriends. Espresso martini's here we come.

Came here on a Saturday after the brunch rush. My husband and I arrived to find no line. However, I waited at least five minutes before being attended to, and by that time, a line had formed behind me. The staff informed me of a 20-30 minute wait, which was reasonable considering their busy schedule. After waiting 20 minutes outside, I returned only to find the parties who had arrived after me had been seated. Following an additional five-minute wait, the waiter who had taken my info requested it again and informed me we were next in line, despite there being no line. He apologized, citing technical issues with their system. I ordered the Lobster Scramble, which came with Parmesan Truffle Potatoes. The scramble contained lobster chunks, which I appreciated, although I prefer my meals to be served warm rather than cold. The potatoes were exceptionally addictive, and I ultimately took them home. I also ordered a chai latte, which had the ideal level of sweetness for my taste. My husband ordered the Short Rib Benny; his only complaint was that the rosemary bread overpowered the flavor of the short rib. In addition, we shared the Stuffed French Toast, which was more of a dessert for us. The brioche held up remarkably well and was quite good on its own. Despite the delay between checking in at the hostess station and receiving our check, the employees were friendly and the food was good.

Toasted located in La Mesa in a shopping center but, hidden from street view. It is located across from Frazier Farms towards the back side of street view. They offer indoor and outdoor seating and parking can be challenging. Ambiance is nice with great customer service! We ordered: Short Rib Benny - AMAZING and a MUST ORDER! Elvis French Toast - I was not a fan of the combination of flavors. They offer a wide variety of dishes to choose from and we will definitely be back!

I had a nice lunch at Toasted La Mesa with a few friends. When we arrived it took a while for a staff to come and greet us and seat us. There wasn't anyone else waiting to be sat. The atmosphere in the restaurant was very open. I ordered the BLT sandwich and shared the Balsamic Grilled Chicken salad. The sandwich was good. It was served on brioche bread. The salad had too much dressing which made it a bit soggy. Next time I'll try to chopped salad it looked very good. Our waiter Eric was pleasant. Service was a bit slow. I would try this place again.

We have been to Toasted probably 5 or so times since moving to La Mesa and love it! We definitely recommend it. AMBIANCE: The ambiance is very nice. The restaurant is cute and not too noisy. There is an indoor and outdoor area. SERVICE: We have never had a bad service experience at Toasted. Our waitress today in particular was great. My niece wanted a mimosa without alcohol, and she happily accommodated and even suggested adding some soda water to make it more like a mimosa. FOOD & DRINKS: In the many times we have been there, we have had the following; DRINKS: -Mimosa Flight: Too be honest, I did not love the flight. The Prickly Pear was my favorite, but I tend to prefer sweeter drinks, and I would say overall, the cocktails are not super sweet there, which for many people is a plus (just not me). -Lavender Cocktail - Good but also not super sweet -Chai Latte - I have had it hot and iced and liked it both ways FOOD: -Santa Fe Scramble - My favorite dish I have tried to date. Our waitress compared it to tortilla soup in an egg dish, and I would say that's a new perfect description except I think this is way better than tortilla soup -Denver Scramble - Very good and would order again -Breakfast Sammy - Good. A typical breakfast sandwich, so if that's what you're in the mood for, get this. That being said, I wouldn't say there is anything that sets this breakfast sandwich apart from others. -Stuffed French Toast - Good but not my favorite. Would not order again. -Fried Chicken Benny - Good but not a standout that I would order again -Breakfast Quesadilla - Just okay. Nothing was wrong with it, but I would not get it again and would do the Santa Fe Scramble over this. -Sliders - My favorite lunch item. They are the same as the old Sammy's sliders (this location used to be a Sammy's) -Red Velvet Pancakes - Good but very rich -Chocolate Chip Pancakes - Great and very fluffy with excellent texture Overall, even though not every food item or drink is a hit for me personally, that's the case at pretty much any restaurant, and there are some great items and the food, service, and ambiance are great

I definitely want to get it again in the future. The burrito was so good as well. I was not too fond of the agave syrup drizzle as I don't like mixing sweet and savory, but if that's your thing, go for it! Eventually I only had room for the filling, so that was nice and savory. The cafe de olla was delicious as well. I REALLY commend this restaurant for not using AI graphics. The signs and menu looked like they were designed by a real designer. Great job! My only complaint was that the table next to us had an iPad kid with loud volume. The host was very nice and personable so we didn't mind waiting at all. The decor/ambiance was nice throughout. Sadly we got seated at one of the bar height tables on the patio that had EXTREMELY uncomfortable tall metal chairs that had an unusual tilt to the seats leaning down towards the back (all 3 people in our party were super uncomfortable and left with horrible back back and numb legs). So just a tip, make sure you request to sit at a normal height table, they seemed fine in comparison as far as we observed. On a positive note, our waitress was very friendly and attentive, unfortunately we were not able to change tables when we asked but we understood because they were so busy. We were determined to make the best of it though because we were all really looking forward to the food and drinks after reading so many good reviews. We all ordered different specialty drinks which were fine, a little to syrupy and overly sweet for our taste but I could see how some might like that, the presentation was seriously lacking compared to the photos on their website though, again we just chalked this up to them being busy so no big deal, just a bummer because we wanted to cute tasty drinks for our ladies night out. The biggest bummer though was the food... We ordered everything our waitress recommended, so perhaps the kitchen was just having an off night because they were so busy.. It did take well over an hour to get served after ordering, but we are troopers and wouldn't have minded waiting so long if the chairs hadn't been so uncomfortable. But we were seriously disappointed with every dish, everything was "fine and edible" but lacked any real flavor. These are the dishes we had: Appetizer - Tabla de Antojitos (presentation was okay) platter included: Chicken barbacoa empanadas (very bland) Sweet potato, caramelized onion & chipotle taquitos (flavorless and used regular potato not sweet potato) Mini queso fundido (was literally just cheese and beans with no chorizo or seasoning at all) Bacon wrapped jalapenos (these were okay, just nothing special) Entrees - Enchiladas Marisco Suiza - Presentation was good, it was a pretty dish thanks to the sauce and looked promising, but unfortunately the food was very bland, seriously lacking in the flavor department. Birria de la Abuela - Presentation was lacking it looked like someone just threw the food on the plate, and it was edible but not good. Crispy Carnitas - This we all agreed was the most edible thing we got. Presentation was lacking, but the beans and carnitas had good flavor and was cooked just right. It still wasn't "great", but it was better than everything else we had ordered. Overall we were pleased with the staff we encountered during our visit all very friendly, but very disappointed in the food. We left in agreement that we could've spent a fraction of the cost at just about any of our local friendly taco shops for the same or similar dishes and had much better tasting food.
