So I try to explore new places and avoid repeating spots I know. I've eaten at Lima 32 three times since January. Lima 32 is a small casual Peruvian spot located in a very small plaza in Meriden. Parking is tough, but they've done a nice job with the aesthetics inside. Lima 32 is also available on DoorDash within a certain area. I've now had the Lomo Saltado, the Arroz Con Marisco and the Chaufa de Pollo. Best Lomo Saltado I've ever had, and I've had a really expensive one at a famous CT spot. It's basically a beef and veggie stir fry. You can see the chef making it with fire in the pan if you have the right seat. The soy and oyster sauce based glaze is good salty. So flavorful and everything is perfectly cooked. Best Arroz Con Marisco I've ever had. It's a saucy Peruvian paella. The sauce (Aji Amarillo) has a well rounded creamy pepper flavor. The seafood, like crab, mussels and shrimp really stand out. I suspect the seafood varies depending on what's available. The Chaufa de Pollo, a Chinese fried rice style dish, was very good too. Huge pieces of chicken. Eat it with the delicious Aji Verde sauce. Is Lima 32 hidden? I don't know. But it sure the hell is a gem. It's must visit. 5 Stars

The menu features all the different types of cuisine you would expect in a Peruvian restaurant: Peruvian/Hispanic, stir-fries, and pasta dishes. Fish also features very heavily on the menu, which of course means many ceviche options too. We started with roasted corn nuts brought to our table, followed by beverages of limeade and purple corn beverage which was mildly sweet with cinnamon added. Our entrees were fairly simple, a beef stir-fry with fried rice, and grilled chicken on french fries with rice and salad. These came out quickly. The portions were more than adequate, and my simple side salad was better than similar side salads I've gotten at fancier restaurants. Small bottles of yellow and red sauces are provided to spice up your meal: yellow for fairly spicy, and red for REALLY spicy. For me, the yellow sauce was perfect for my chicken and my rice. Meals here seem like dishes you would have visiting family and friends in Peru, and I would not be surprised if Mi Bandera already has a loyal set of customers they would consider family and friends.

My family ordered seafood, while I went with the Peruvian Chicken Wings topped with Peruvian Barbecue sauce, Ceviche Chicken Wings, and Lomo Salado. I was particularly curious about the Ceviche wings because I'd never heard of them before. The ceviche sauce is inspired by Aji Limo Ceviche, a lively Peruvian dish featuring fresh, raw white fish like sea bass or flounder "cooked" in lime juice, seasoned with citrusy, spicy Aji Limo peppers, red onions, and cilantro. It's usually served with sweet potato, corn, and leche de tigre (tiger's milk), offering a tart, spicy, and refreshing flavor. The Ceviche wings were fantastic. They had a bright citrus kick, and I could taste all the distinct flavors, including the spices and chilies. They really hit the spot. The barbecue wings were just as enjoyable, with a sweet yet tangy sauce and perfectly seasoned chicken. Feels like a strange rule but i did honestly deduct 1 star because of this.
