Two more accomplished male black belts. Many advanced level coaches as well, plenty of adult training partners, and a small army of Genesis kids! Very reasonable pricing, no contracts, tons of class times, and great people. All levels, from beginners to black belts, train here. The environment is very welcoming. Competition is encouraged but not required, and there are many very successful competitors here in different age ranges, weight classes, and belt levels. Focusing on the kid's side for this review: Started about 3 years ago with my 4 year old daughter. We came for a trial class and enjoyed it, so decided to keep training. Another big factor was the female ownership and strong female membership. I wanted my daughter to have those examples to look up to. We have never done any martial arts or wrestling before, so I wasn't sure how either of us would fair. My daughter loves her coaches and they really do a great job of keeping things fun yet disciplined and engaging. They all genuinely care about their students. They make sure everyone is safe and working together in a controlled way. Coach Jen and Coach Kat started her off with Wee Warriors and the basic skills. She has been able to move up and promote into the more advanced classes with Coach Kari and Coach Eli. She also loves helping with the younger kids whenever she can with Coach (and owner) Karen, Coach Eli, or Coach Jen. It's nice that all of the coaches generally work together and help eachother, and there are many other coaches that I am sure I am neglecting to mention who have contributed to my daughter's progress. The lessons are consistent no matter who is leading the class, and generally build on the previous lessons or review skills already taught. Plenty of private and small group lessons available as well for extra training if desired. The more my daughter participates and engages with her coaches, friends, training partners, and other competitors, the more she enjoys being at Genesis Jiu Jitsu. She genuinely looks forward to it and misses it when she can't go. Come on in and join the Genesis family!

Having no shame, this recreation center is now charging $35 for their family plan. They keep changing g their hours to fit their needs. In addition, the Roanoke recreation center lacks sanitation wipes. I'm not joking, the wipes have been empty for weeks. When you tell the kids in the front, the two boys, they just nod and go s as bout their ways. I mean, in the midst of Covid , nothing is readily available, at this center. You can't wipe anything down. The sweats on the machines snd equipment just sit on the equipment until the next person becomes a victim of catching a case. Furthermore, the place is kept without air conditioning. You could have a stroke trying to workout- in their modest gym- with a few machine operating. So good luck with your workout. This place is nasty , not kept clean. Their bathrooms and facility - in an overall demeanor, is dirty, not attended to and some of their toilets are unflushable. It's too bad they have teenagers, who are busy on their cell phone, basically, running this place down. In a nutshell, this place is hotter than hell , offers little to no working equipment and lacks in wipes. So in midst of Covid, this center is running a mock , lacking wipes - that are always empty , in their dispensary. It's like , " For the love of God, , get off your butts and off your damn cellphones and attend to this facility , that's over priced, for what they offer. It's not safe working out there anymore. So, beware.

They also offer trips of all kinds in the form of day trips, trips within the United States and also trips abroad!!! The staff is very knowledgeable and very accommodating when someone is needing help!!! Joining KSAC is one of the best things I've ever done!!! I've met so many people and have made many friends!!! If undecided about joining they will give you a very thorough tour and tell you about some of the classes offered!!!

The coffee station is tucked in the corner on this wide counter. Makes no sense. The work out room is nice but why are the 2 stationary bikes about 3-4 feet in front of a massive TV that watching it leaves you with a knot in your neck just to watch. Once you sign up and are handed a brochure you're kinda on your own.

I've noticed some awesome things in my son in just a few classes here. Highly recommend if you have a kid that likes to jump and climb. The facility is incredible. They start with a warm up, then practice a few different maneuvers/ obstacles courses and usually get to finish with some free time on the trampolines / jumps onto the big air pillow. The first class was free and yearly registration fee was waived if you signed up on the first day. I'm thrilled we finally found an activity that is so him and that he wants to stick with!

I left DFW in 2013, but I still try to visit the club for good fencing and to see great friends whenever I am back in town. Fencing at GBFC helped me grow as a person. At GBFC, I learned how to fence at an internationally competitive level, and the coaching I received helped me become part of the 2015 NCAA Div1 National Championship Notre Dame fencing team. But more than that, I made lifelong friends with my fellow athletes and my coaches. GBFC helped me learn the value of healthy competition, physical fitness, dedication, strategic thinking, teamwork... the list goes on and on.
