    Great food. Loved the Octopus. It was so tender and probably the best we've ever had but only if it has at least another scoop of rice. The tacos beef and pork carnitas were tasty. The dine out appetizer - chips and guacamole was good but there weren't enough chips. There were maybe only 8 chips max, so we needed to order and pay for extra chips to finish the tasty guacamole. Both rice and chips are low cost filler items but will make customers really happy. If it wasn't for these 2 points, I would have given the restaurant 5 stars. But we will be back for more tacos and Octopus though. Service was also great and attentive

    We got the sikil pak dip and patatas bravas to start with along with apple ginger mojito, fuggles, violet and honeydew gin fizz. The drinks were very refreshing and tasty. We got the cochinita and arrachera tortas and a plate of 4 tacos all of which were delicious. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. Would highly recommend stopping by when in the vicinity you will be pleasantly surprised.

    Food: 3/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 3.5/5 I had passed by this spot so many times and finally decided to check it out for happy hour (4-6pm) on a Friday. We got there right around 4 and we're seated right away which was great. The happy hour menu is pretty small, with a few drink selections and 2 for $8 tacos (with 4 flavours to choose from including beef, pork, cauliflower and black beans). We got 1 of each of the taco flavours and a patatas bravas to split. The food took a bit to get ready and was average at best. The tortillas weren't very fresh and I found the flavours of the veg ones could use some more spices and be warmer as mine were lukewarm when they came out. The best part of the food was definitely the potatoes which were delicious but a small portion for the $12 price tag. The service is super friendly so the only small knock there was that they didn't refill our water when it was empty but otherwise it was great! As for the ambiance, I'm a bit torn here. The decor is all super cute BUT if you look even a little closely you'll find that the place is quite worn down between ripped seats cushions, banged up walls, and sticky floors. The patio looks like it would be nice for summer days though. Overall, this seems like a very a-okay spot to grab a happy hour but I wouldn't come rushing back as there's better Mexican food close by in my opinion

    We came here thinking happy hour starts at 2pm, but it was 3pm-6pm. We still ordered some food and drinks anyway. The ceviche was delicious and not too overly sour. Fish was fresh and had good bouncy texture. I wish there was just a bit more pieces of fish. The tacos were comforting and the stand out ones were the Birria Tacos. I thought there was something or the consume to dip them in, but there wasn't. I don't know if that's the norm or not, but I still loved them. Our server who also greeted people at the door was funny and provided excellent service. We will be back to try more items on the menu.

    Had a great time at happy hour here! Hora feliz, as they call it, is from 3-6 pm daily. During this time, you can get $5 draft beers or a $8 guava spritz, as well as 2 tacos for $7. Not a bad deal! My friend and I came here 4:30 pm on Saturday and there was both indoor and outdoor seating available. For outdoor seating, they have a small patio on the sidewalk as well as parklet seating. It was nice out, so we decided to sit outdoors. We both had the guava spritz and tacos to snack on. The guava spritz was very refreshing, and the birria and cochinita pibil (roast pork) tacos were both delicious. Tocador is a fun spot on Main. I'd love to come back sometime to try their other drinks and food.

    I was here with a couple for a third wheel hangout on January 21st(Tuesday). My pal and her partner wanted happy hour drinks so we actually waited about 15 mins till the opening. Interior and decor looked quite nice. If you like Cuban vibe Tocador is the spot! This place had some beautiful paintings and some DIY displays on used vanity set. We ordered Guava Soda ($5), 2 Mojitos ($9 each on Happy Hour) and then some aged rum (not sure which one it was). Guava Soda was good, but it was small. Mojito was full of ice; however, 2 friends enjoyed their drink I think. I remember the rum was the most expensive drink here. I rarely drink so I don't know which one it was. They had cool eco-friendly straw made out of lemongrass or something else. Staff were helpful and friendly. They helped recommending local dance club so my pal and her partner can go one day.

    Came here for a girls night and really liked the ambience and decorations in the restaurant. Dark with candlelight, tropical/Mexican themed interior. The food was really great as well! Loved the pork belly and ceviche the most. The birria taco was alittle bit dry. The drinks were super strong! Would recommend coming here for hanging out in an intimate setting over drinks and good food

    I came here for Happy Hour and had a reservation. We were a party of 2 and were seated outside at a table and 2 chairs that were the furthest from the restaurant. It was outside the place next to them. I think this is just set up for the summer as it was kind of slanted and uncomfortable to sit here. The tables right outside looked great with a beach side vibe. Too bad I wasn't seated at one of those. There was live music inside which was too loud. Couldn't have a conversation. Service was pretty slow. They were out of the cauliflower taco and the fish, instead of fish they had prawns that day. Kind of disappointing to not have 2 tacos from your happy hour menu during happy hour. The guava spritz was just okay, didn't entice me to order another. Their tacos though were good.

    Went to grab drinks after dinner nearby around 8ish and was pleasantly surprised to grab the last table in a booth for 5 people. They have a well-organized menu and friendly staff. The place was full of people for a rainy typical Vancouver Friday night. Drinks were a little more expensive for some picks but not others and I really really liked their rum selection so I will likely come back to try. For snacking I tried their Fritas de Yuca which was fried yuca root batons with a spiced mayo. This was actually pretty good - the batter was crunchy but pillow-y and food was served HOT. The mayo accompanied it nicely. My Wavebird was served in a cute clay cup with a sustainable reed (or lemongrass?) straw. That was pretty cool. Service was solid by both wait staff and bartender team. I'll be back again to try their dinner!

    Awesome spot on Main St. I'm definitely going to have to come back to try other menu items because I was too busy this time sipping their margaritas and eating the fish tacos. Def a great place for happy hour as it goes until 6pm :) Friendly efficient service-win win if you ask me!

    5 stars for the aesthetic and decor alone. I'm in love. I love that this restaurant exists in Vancouver. I love any sort of Latin American cuisine, and I find that that's one of the few cuisines that Vancouver lacks. Between the beautiful decor, gorgeous bar, and the delicious cocktails, this spot is going to be my favourite new hang out spot. I came in with a girlfriend and we split a couple appetizers: caramelized veggie and bean dip, beef tartare, endive salad, and the cubano sandwich. The appetizers were small, so all of this food was the perfect amount for the both of us. I especially loved the endive salad and the cubano sandwich. Any sort of cubano sandwich makes my belly happy, this one was no different. To drink we both got the "Tell The Bartender" cocktail. I love concepts like this. For me, I wanted a dry, sour, gin or tequila based drink. For her, she wanted a dry, citrus, whiskey based drink. We both were in love with our cocktails. Kudos to the bartender! They're well known for their cocktails, so if you're a drinker, be sure to try one. I'm sure you can get any cocktail turned into a mocktail though. Prepare yourself, Tocador, I'll be coming here more often to try more cocktails and dishes!

    This is a great place. It's a small piece of Havana in Vancouver. I don't know of any other Cuban restaurants in Vancouver, so I was happy to finally try this. It's well worth the stop. The decor at the bar is a replica of a Cuban bar. The seating around the place is comfortable with an inviting dimly-lit ambience. I was excited to try the classic Hemingway Daiquiri. It wasn't outstanding, but it tasted good. They have a good list of cocktails to choose from. They also have wine & beer. It's a nice place to just stop in for an evening or late night cocktail, or have a meal. I ordered the Cubano sandwich and I loved it. It's grilled and includes pork, pickles and cheese with a sauce; it comes with greens in a spicy sauce. I would come back for the sandwich. At $15 it's a bit on the pricey side, but it's comparable to other places.

    My experience here was hovering around a 2-3 star and ultimately I wouldn't recommend it for dinner so am giving it 2 stars. We had the $40 tasting menu. Some of the dishes I really liked (trout) but the majority were either okay or not at all to my taste. It started off with a number of very tiny appetizers (some were comically small) and ended with two large dishes, the trout and the bison tongue. Now I don't like tongue to begin with (probably should have asked the server to exclude this from our tasting menu) but the presentation was super weird - a large slab of tongue with a hot piece of butter lettuce over it, with asiago cheese on top. Like, what? The piece of lettuce got very slimy, it was just not good. (A more global comment, I also don't think you should include bison tongue on a tasting menu, since a lot of people don't like it.) Overall we got more than 7 dishes, I think a total of 9 or 10. So in terms of amount of food it was decent value for $40 but there were some odd choices. One of the dishes was kohlrabi which was 3 tiny slices of kohlrabi. Tongue dish mentioned above. Another was scallops which were raw - another strange choice for a tasting menu as these really aren't that common. On the plus side, the vibe in here was really great on a Friday evening. Cocktails were good, although service could have been faster on drinks. Would come back for a drink but not for dinner.

    Had the Ropa Vieja and Empanadas, amazing food hit the spot. Cocktails are amazing too. You should check it out, it's a cool spot

I would say it was too much food for me and a bit too rich but still worth the price. Our favorites were the bone marrow, the dungeness crab garlic noodles, the wagyu beef tartare and duck breast. Service was fast and the waiter was very helpful making sure what we liked and what we didn't.

For dinner we shared a diavola pizza and smoked salmon parpadelle. The pizza was good but the crust was soggy. The salmon parpadelle was good but I think it would have been better with another pasta - spaghetti, linguine or fettucine as the pasta could not be twirled with a fork and spoon and had to be cut up. The service was excellent. When our server Malaka heard that we were coming in from Abbotsford she said that she would give us the "best seat in the restaurant". When we opted to sit on the patio she gave us a complimentary tiramisu as a thank you. It was such a kind gesture. It was a nice relaxing evening and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Strange because our view was blocked by a kind of ersatz plastic and wood wagon wheel blocking our view of the servers and bar. It was reminiscent of Utah's Zion Curtain. Later, I was told it was part of Odd Society's Covid protection and helped the bartenders stack things up. Okay, fine, but tear the damn things down. They're obnoxious. Odd Society creates an array of liquors made from ingredients sourced locally by law. It's required by their license. I tried almost all of them, and most were fantastic. Abby and Colin, our servers, were charming, fun, and educational, answering my questions, which became increasingly inane as the alcohol took effect. The distillery also mixes fantastic cocktails, and mine, named Midori, was friggen unbelievable. I had two of them along with my liquor tasting. My Midori was made with a special concoction called Portuguese Sweet Milk, or something like that. It was amazing. I want one for breakfast. The fun kept coming, and I didn't want to leave. Alas, we had reservations at Lunch Lady up the street. We should have stayed at Odd Society. Lunch Lady was a disappointment. Try Odd Society out as both a distillery and cocktail bar. Not long after we were seated, the remaining tables were all taken just after opening for 30 minutes so I would recommend reserving if you prefer tables over bar seating. The waitress brought over a drinks menu and food menu. The menu showed cocktails at $13. We chose our drinks and ordered, then the waitress came by with a second menu that she said was for Sunday only. She apologized and said she normally doesn't work Sunday's so she didn't know this promotional menu was available. This menu had some cocktails on promotion that I would have not minded to try, but I had already received my cocktail. Oh well. I had the Violet and Claire, which looked great and tasted pretty good for the first half. However by the second half of the drink, it started to taste too sweet. It was not bad for a cocktail, overall. My friend said the Smoke Between the Sheets cocktail was alright as well. We got our bills quickly as we had a second place to visit afterwards. After paying, I snapped a picture of the bill at the time but did not notice until I got home that to my surprise, each cocktail was listed on the bill at $14.95. I recalled their physical menu saying $13, and verified this with their menu online. Unfortunately, I did not notice the discrepancy until I was home, otherwise I would have mentioned something. Note that our visit was at the end of November 2021, and at the time I'm writing this review (December 26, 2021), their online menu still has cocktail prices at $13. So, I am not sure if this was a one time mistake when we paid, or if they have just forgotten to update their menu? Either way, this was disappointing. Because of the entire experience I probably won't visit again, especially with all the other options Vancouver has for cocktails.

Menu is a simple one pager with a couple of chalkboard specials. Entrees are $21.00 to $46.00. Service was very friendly and hospitable. - Greek salad ($19.00) - simple - Kalamari ($18.00) - beet garlic dip was tasty. Calamari was excellent - Lamb chops ($24.00 for 2) - plenty of lemon potatoes. Chops (requested medium) were perfect - Mousaka ($21.00) - homey bechamel sauce - Roasted lamb shoulder ($31.00) - opted for the rice pilaf. Lamb shoulder was huge, tender - Seafood spaghetti ($29.00) - al dente. Good portion with prawns, octopus and calamari - Flourless chocolate cake ($17.00) - coconut sorbet scoop was refreshing. Sadly, we were sooooo disappointed! We came on a Saturday evening at peak time, around 6:30pm, so granted, we expected it to be busy. We were sat nearly right away in comfortable booths with tables. The waitress brought us menus and water. So far so good! We ordered our food, nothing crazy, several got the special of the night, lamb souvlaki with potatoes rice and pita. A couple ordered the seafood pasta, one asked for red sauce instead of cream sauce and two asked for veggie lasagna's but they only had one order available. When we asked about the beers on menu, we were told each one was unavailable except for Heineken and the seasonal beer. When we asked what it was, she didn't know. She then brought the can of beer over and said she wasn't sure what type it was. Fair enough! She was young, seemed new and not quite trained with alcohol so no big deal. It gave us a giggle. It was a Granville Island radler btw. I ordered a Heineken and my friend ordered the yummy sounding spicy passionfruit margarita. My beer came fairly quick but no margarita. Then the young waitress came out to say that our food would take a bit longer to come out since they were a bit slammed with orders and asked if we wanted any appetizers. We decided we'd be ok, and decided to wait. One hour later!!!!! I'm not joking, one hour later, the margarita drink came out. Again, we noticed very young and probably newly hired staff attempting to make drinks. When this $19 drink came out, it looked like the rim of salt was touched with fingers and a lot of it was missing. However, my friend desperate for a drink or morsel of anything, decided to just have it as it came. She said it was delicious and the best thing she had. One hour and a half later!!! Our food came out. My medium rare lamb was cooked through and the pasta with red sauce came out with a cream sauce, but there was NO way we were going to send anything back as we were pretty hangry at this point. The potatoes were delicious, the rice extremely plain. All 8 of us agreed that for the price, service and quality of food, we would not be returning, although my friend said if the passionfruit drink was on the happy hour menu, she would consider it. All in all, very disappointed.

I ate at two other tasting menu spots while I was here and this place was a clear winner. It's a one Michelin star restaurant and absolutely lives up to the hype. We did the tasting menu and every single course was delicious. There were a lot of flavor combinations I'd never had before, and the presentation was on point. They took the time to explain each dish, which I really appreciated. The chef clearly focuses on seasonality and local ingredients, so the menu changes by season. This tasting menu was themed around "Preservation," which made the experience even more interesting. The ambiance was top notch. The space felt warm, intimate, and thoughtfully designed, which really elevated the whole experience without feeling stuffy or overdone. The pacing was perfect, about two hours total, and I left very full and very happy. Can't wait to come back.

Service was exceptional. Both the maître d' and our server were friendly and helpful. We opted to order from the regular and seasonal à la carte menus for dinner: - Brezeln - The pretzel buns were soft and warm and we could not resist putting a big glob of the honey cultured butter on every bite. - Octopus - The tentacles were tender and springy at the same time. The slight heat from the sauce was perfect in cutting through the richness of the meat. - Chicken fried maitake - The coating was very flavourful but we found the the seasoning a bit too heavy. - Scallops - They were fresh and sinfully delicious with the sauce. - Sunchoke Dumplings - A dish with simple ingredients but it was easily the most flavour rich and balanced dish of the evening. - Hunters Chicken - I like that both dark and white meats were served on the dish. Although I generally stay away from white poultry meat but all the pieces were tender and juicy. The seasoning was a bit on the saltier side for us though. - Hay - The custard dish was interesting and we were told it's been the most popular dessert offering since the restaurant doors opened. It reminds me of a deconstructed tres leches cake from a restaurant on the North Shore years agar when I was hoping for a good piece of cake.

I didn't realize the restaurant did sushi platters and oysters - what a pleasant surprise! The oysters were delicious. For the sushi I've definitely had better, but was still impressed that the restaurant had this kind of platter available. Portions were really big and among the dishes, the miso cod was a big standout with great flavour and texture. I also enjoyed the matcha tiramisu dessert as it was not too sweet. The staff were very friendly and attentive to replenishing drinks. I believe some of the drinks were made specifically for the event so I'm not sure if any of the ones I had are on the regular menu. However, the drinks were delicious and the 'Ryujin' especially was my favourite one (the glass with dragonfruit garnished over top!) It was fruity, sweet, and deceivingly tasted like tropical juice. I would like to return to experience the restaurant on its own sometime. In the meantime, it's an excellent spot for private events!
