This is a no-frills massage place specializing in reflexology and manicures and pedicures. While I was in town, it was a little difficult to find a place nearby that only did foot massages, but Toe-Asis came up when I was searching. The prices were very affordable so I called to make a reservation the day before coming and was able to get one at the time I asked for. The receptionist was very friendly and greeted as soon as I walked in. I selected the 60 minute massage therapy combo, which consisted of a 10 minute foot bath and 50 minute foot massage. Once I stepped in, I was greeted immediately by the receptionist. The front room was full of people getting pedicures. My masseur came and took me to a room at the back, where they directed me to sit in a chair with my feet propped. The massage started with a hot foot bath, and I was given an eye mask. After about 10 minutes of the foot bath, my masseur took my foot out of the bath, dried them and then proceeded to give me a foot massage that consisted of long rubbing motions and some kneading. I think there were areas where the pressure felt too hard and areas where it felt too soft. Overall, I think this is a great place to get a pedicure or foot massage considering the value, but it seems like from reviews, the experience can be hit or miss depending on who you get. read more

After back to back travelling, work, and events, my body was aching so bad and needed something. I didn't need the whole relaxing spa experience, I just needed a fix for the pains. I looked all over yelp just for a regular reflexology place that does back and feet for a good price and stumbled on this place. To start, I wouldn't say this is the most relaxing place if you're looking for that. It's not a whole spa experience, but I think they try their best as possible? They still have the sounds of a waterfall and spa music, but also mixed with the sounds of the street if the door is open and people talking. "Massage" rooms are basically private by curtains so you can hear everything like the conversations happening at the front desk. I didn't mind though I just needed the massage. I did the 70 min combo reflexology which was 10 min foot bath, 20 min foot reflexology, 40 min back massage for $68. There's different combos for 70 mins with different prices. They give you a warm pad to go over your shoulders & upper back while you do the foot soak. The foot reflexology was sooo good, perfect pressure esp after being on my feet all day the past few weeks. The guy knew all the right pressure points and it relieved a lot of tension and aches. The back massage was good, although I probably should have said to go a bit softer but it hurt too good lol. If you don't like heavy or hard pressure, I suggest telling them bc this guy was going HAM. I usually like the feeling like I got beat up in a good way, but that's just me. He did tell me to let him know if the pressure was too much. At first I wasn't sure about the massage bc it initially felt like he was just putting pressure like kneading cpr on my back. He ended up going deep into the tissue and it hurt too good, I needed that from being so sore. This place is also combined with a nail shop, I didn't get to try it but there were a lot of people coming in for appointments for it. Overall, I would recommend this place. I ran to tell my bf that it's a good place to get reflexology and the price is right. Service is good as well, the lady in the front was nice and greeted when you come in and then when you finish. Visiting from LA, I can say that I'd fly here just for the massages and mani pedi treatments they offer. For the very fair affordable price, I got the best deep tissue massage I've ever had. They definitely know what they're doing and they really go max strength so if you are sensitive and need lighter pressure just let them know but remember, sometimes you gotta just trust the process and then them apply the pressure they recommend to get the full benefit. They know where the pressure points are and they were able to tell where I've been sore. I feel brand new now and so relaxed. At times I felt like the pressure was a bit much but I'm so glad I let them do their work because I am brand new now. We also got the callus removal treatment and for the price it was a complete steal for full foot scrub after a wrap in their special serum soak with a heated massage sleeve. My feet are so baby soft and I felt so embarrassed by how rough my feet were after a long hike but the lady was so kind and scrubbed the crap out of my feet with a smile and kept asking if I was okay or if I needed anything. Service is top tier as they even helped me charge my dying phone and offer drinks like water and hot tea and coconut crisp crackers. They were kind enough to even open them for me while my nails were drying so I don't ruin them. TLDR, make an appointment cuz they get booked minute to minute back to back because this is the place to be. It was extremely relaxing and you have plenty of options of how you can split your time during the massage. I'm constantly on my feet -- hiking, working, staying active -- and was genuinely excited to finally unwind here. TOEASIS had great reviews, even made it on the news. I thought, "This is the spot." Spoiler: it wasn't. The Massage: I started with a foot massage that felt... experimental. I don't know what pressure points he was targeting, but I'm pretty sure they weren't meant to exist. Midway through, I politely asked if we could cut the foot part short and move to the back -- not to pay less, just to shift the focus and finish out my time. Somewhere between "cut short" and "combo," that message got lost in translation. The therapist must've thought I wanted extra back time, because I was charged more than originally quoted. Honest mistake or communication gap, but disappointing either way. As for the actual massage -- it was just okay. A lot of pressing and squeezing between muscle groups, not much flow or relaxation. The people were very kind and accommodating, but the technique just didn't land. The Pedicure: Now, this was the real plot twist. The "pedicure setup" looked like someone said, "Let's make a spa with whatever's in the storage closet." A small bucket of blue water on the floor (I assume for aesthetic points) and a chair that was more waiting-room-at-the-DMV than spa throne. The process was quick: cut, splash, rub, and done. I've had drive-thru meals that took longer. Final Take: The staff were friendly -- I'll absolutely give them that. But nice people don't make up for a poor setup and rushed services. It's hit or miss- I have had some excellent foot massages and a neck/shoulder stretch here from an man named John, who is there part time. Other times I have had some painful massages- or lets say prodding- and tapping percussion from some of the younger staff. I am not convinced that all of them are reflexologists. They have, once upon my complaining to the front desk after clearly giving instructions to them to translate-that the masseuse didn't understand English or the words less pressure and ouch, gotten a slight discount afterwards. I have tipped each time, but that particular time I tipped less and they expressed deep disappointment. You and me both! I left feeling guilty for being in increased pain afterwards. FANTASTIC Look, I love a damn good foot massage. And top of my "list" are Chinese foot massages. I have yet to figure out what is ---- academics, culture, intuition or something else ------ but the chinese "know" what to do And no I am not impressed by Western reflexology. And TOE-ASIS delivers in spades. I had 3 massages over 5 days. One was given by an older gentleman (who gave a slow, but deep & insistent massage). Another was by a younger gentleman (who gave a vigourous, strong intense massage. Both were very good. Other than the dull background chatter of the nail salon (which i drowned out with headphones), this place gives top-flight treatments. Really disgusted by the way people think it's okay to do that in a zenful, meditative space like this. I agree with the other reviews that mentions that the front desk clerks are getting less friendlier. I had a foot massage. At the end I gave 15% tip and the lady said it was not acceptable, cancelled my credit card transaction (!), and forced me to make a new transaction with 25$ tip. I thought that was rude and made me uncomfortable, I would not recommend this place. If they expect more money, they should increase their price instead of rudely asking for more tip. I have been going to Toe-Asis for the past 10 years and always had good experiences until recently. I typically request the back room (it tends to be more quiet there and away from the chatter of the ladies getting their nails done). The time before last I had the worst foot massage to date and had to request that the manager take over for the masseuse. Which was not something I really wanted to do but it was a very painful massage and the masseuse was not understanding my multiple request to be more gentle. This last time, the guy next to me moaned and groaned to the point of making me feeling very uncomfortable and start to question what was going on in the room next door. This went on for the entire hour of my massage and left me feeling very violated and venerable. I felt as if I wasted my money because I simply could not relax and enjoy my massage. Even my masseuse looked over a couple of times and turned back to me with an uncomfortable smile. Additionally, often the staff talking to each other with no regard to customer enjoyment and relaxation. It's fine if there is a quick comment or question, it's something completely different when the staff is having a full conversation. If you are paying good money for a massage you should be able to enjoy it. Bottom line, there needs to be a better policy about noise levels and talking in the spa. I really want to enjoy this place and support my neighborhood business. I hope to return to Toe-Asis and have a better experience moving forward. read more

It's supposed to take almost an hour yet they rushed us out after barely 30 mins when it was the end of the day and with very few customers inside. Furthermore, the lady left the heated sleeve on my calf and foot for far too long as she worked on my other foot until my skin was burning. Our calluses were still hard the next day. Had a wonderful experience from walk-in, to calling to schedule, to the waiting, the teas & waters - the massages & 1/2 reflexology 1/2 full body massage. We initially walked in and they didn't have appointments so we called the next day and made an appointment (per what they requested) we booked 2 1/2 foot and 1/2 full body/back with 1 gel manicure. During the wait we didn't even know, they laid us in recliners with heat packs, blankets, and feet propped up for a little comfortable snooze while waiting for massage to start. Both of us fell asleep. The massage started with a foot in water soak and massage of the feet, legs, then eventually roll you over on your stomach and massage from head to toe. My scalp, to my fingers, to my toes were feeling the relief of the wonderful massage. The manicure came last. I sat in a small chair with my boyfriend next to me as we were massaged and motioned up. The ladies (and men) were so kind, phenomenal customer service. We WILL be back. And it was only $40 for a 70 minute massage?! Don't sleep on this place!! read more

Got the 30 minute foot massage for $28 + tip. Chairs can recline all the way. Starts off with a short foot soak and they give you a blanket and heating pad for the shoulders. Then a deep massage of lower leg and feet, good pressure! They use a scent less lotion which is nice and use a hot towel at the end to wipe off. Definitely recommend bringing headphones if you want a true spa experience, they have music but since it's not individual rooms it's still a little noisy inside. Nice place! read more

This is my new favorite inexpensive massage spot in SF! My boyfriend and I opted for the 70 minute foot and back massage and was not disappointed. I'm a huge fan of massages at every price point and this was a good find for cheap. Usually when going into a foot massage spot, I set my expectations pretty low but this spot really knew how to dig into the pressure points. Definitely not a lotion rub if that's what you prefer. The back massage was also great. Without even asking the masseuse could tell my neck and shoulders needed most of the focus and really took the knots out. Street metered parking nearby. Cash is preferred but they can accept credit cards. Front half of the store is for the nail salon. The flies hanging in the front lobby was very distracting. Feel bad for anyone who has their pedicure in that area. The back half of the store was where the massages take place w/ draperies separating between every 2 chairs. Not very quiet as you can hear street noise, talking from the pedicure clients and others getting massages. So do not come here if you want a quiet massage. Very brief foot soak (2min) in the lounge chairs and the foot massage began. My male masseuse was ok and sometimes had enough pressure in the right spots but was fairly inconsistent. My masseuse got changed after my foot massage to a female unfortunately. I usually prefer male masseuses because I have an extremely tense back and constantly need more pressure (opted for the option w/more back massage time for this reason). I'm the type of person always getting deep tissue and sports massages. The replacement masseuse was ok but pressure wasn't constantly hard (even after asking for more pressure). I was watching the older gentleman work on the other person I came with and he definitely knew what he was doing. Afterwards, he said it was too much pressure for him (even tho he had fallen asleep a few times). Next time I need that masseuse!
