Our group of five dined at this newer place in downtown Waukesha on a Wednesday night. It was pretty darn full. It is obviously popular. We liked the contemporary decor. We ordered five dishes: the risotto, the fried chicken, short ribs, blue crab and the shrimp with tortellini. Overall people like all the entrees though some of us thought the risotto was a bit starchy. I thought the two best dishes were the crab and the smoked tortellini in the shrimp. Actually the best dish was the toffee tort we had for dessert - it was awesome! I'd come back just for that. We went for my friend's birthday and had a fabulous time. This was very affordable for the amazing quality of food and service we received. It was so hard to pick a favorite. Mine was the pork belly dish. If that bacon jam ever gets jarred, you better believe I will be stocking up! Then last night we went and again I wasn't disappointed. This is our favorite restaurant in the area. Quality food and service unlike anything else. New fashioneds are the best!!

We got our reservations two weeks in advance. My wife and I are from Colorado visiting four Wisconsin friends. Table for six. The server, who was as good as you could ever want, explained the dish sharing and options. We chose to let it rip with a bunch of different dishes. Pacing: Perfect. The food itself. Raves all over the table. My personal favorites were the perch and the kielbasa, which I didn't expect. The flavor of the sausage was moaning good. We got scallops and meatloaf and other dishes, all prepared with added touches and supporting portions of risotto or greens that matched spot on. Some cook. Some service. Some restaurant. We had a wonderful experience at Tofte's table. We booked a reservation and due to outside circumstances, we had to call a few hours before and move it. They are SUPER accommodating and kind about this. We were greeted warmly when we entered and the hostess introduced herself. Once we saw our menu and the name on the back we quickly realized she was one of the owners. Our waitress was easily able to recommend their best drinks and favorite dishes. I tried the Queen bee and it was delicious. We ordered the brussels sprouts which were perfectly crispy and the saffron aioli was to die for. I could bathe in it. We also tried the Duck Confit Tostadas also amazing. The crispy wonton was perfect as the base because it was easy to eat but didn't crumble completely when you bit into it. We also got the burrata which was a delightful combo of flavors. We also got the scallops and braised short ribs which not surprisingly were delicious. The scallops were cooked perfectly and the braised short ribs were so tender and flavorful. Both of these came with risotto that was delectable. Jason, the other co-owner also brought up one of our dishes as well which was a nice touch. I would be back in a heartbeat! YUM! read more

Lovely place! Food was excellent and the service was great! I suggest you make a reservation as soon as you know when you're going, it gets booked pretty fast.. but we got lucky! We had the duck tostadas which I was a bit apprehensive because I don't like Duck but it was so good I'd definitely get it again, also the fried chicken (which is a la carte) the scallop (only thing I didn't care for) also a la carte. The tenderloin was great and the smoked s'mores omg amazing! Service was great, the owner came to our table talked to us, she was so sweet and made us feel very welcomed! read more

What a great experience tonight all the way from the front of the house to the back. Overall the service was amazing. While we waited for our table had great conversations with the hostesses. Our waitress was amazing since it was our first time there, going over the menu and what we should need for our table. The food came out perfectly timed between plates and overall the food was amazing. Great playing and flavors on all the plates were great. Could not ask for more than the. The table service from our waitress was friendly and very helpful. Against our better judgement we had dessert and it was the chocolate flourless cake and it was a great way to end an amazing meal. My wife and I have been to Tofte's Table a several times and have had most items on the menu. The food is very good and the staff is pleasant. My only complaint is that we've had most of the items on the menu. In the 2+ years we've been going there i haven't seen a lot of variation, which I would expect from this type of restaurant. I like to try new things when I go to A fancier restaurant and unfortunately I think I've run out of new things at Tofte's Table. Again, the food is very good. If you haven't been there give a try. Admittedly, this is one of may favorite places. Please see my review of 1/18/2018. Have visited several times since and wanted to review again as the menu changes seasonally. The Chicken and Duck Thighs has changed to include sweet potato, collard greens and cranberry...WOW! The simplicity of ingredient makes it hard to believe the flavors that come from the combination. Even more amazing was that the bacon jam with the Pork Belly has been replaced by a squash, poblano and chorizo hash. It is amazing at how the dish changes and how good it is. The servers and staff are among the best in the business and Chef Jason really is masterful. An outstanding experience time and time again. By the way, the New Fashioned is my fave from the bar, and this comes from someone who prefers his whiskey neat or on the rocks! read more

Wow! Talk about phenomenal quality AND service! It seems as though it is either one or the other these days, but Tofte's table nailed both. My wife and I had an absolute feast of what I think is possibly the best menu in Wisconsin (it's very dialed-in, which is always a good sign in my mind). Our table was "touched" by a total of 4 individuals throughout the 2 hours we were there (including one of the co-owners) . . . and never once did we feel rushed. Only the opposite was true. We could tell that every member of the team personally cared about making our time there memorable! I could truly ramble on about how great this place is, but I'll just say that it's worth the short, SHORT drive from Milwaukee and surrounding counties in SE Wisconsin. Let's talk about those New Fashions that they are known for. Let's just say I would go back just for those. The service was outstanding. Warm, welcoming and very knowledgeable. You could tell they liked what they did and made you feel like you were welcomed into their own home. Expect to wait for a table. We waited close to 2 hours and it was worth every minute of the wait. The service was excellent. We never wanted for a drink or clean plates. The meal itself is measured and deliberate; Definitely, not the normal dining experience. The foods felt unique and tasted pretty good. The meals are meant to be shared with your party with each coming out on one plate and each person have their plate to eat from. The noise level is fairly high with the number of patrons and the communal gathering atmosphere. Getting to the restaurant was slightly challenging, not being from the area; parking was a challenge on a busy Friday. Worth the effort though. Great experience and food. read more

I am a world traveler and foodie who recently moved here from Las Vegas, which no doubt has some of the finest restaurants in the world. Last night I went to Tofte's and was absolutely blown away. The ambiance and decor is comfortably stylish, inviting and very enjoyable. The service was spot on. But most importantly the MENU is spectacular. The choices are original and truly creative. Chef Jason is an artist of the highest degree and a really nice guy. The portions are made to share for all to enjoy. I had the Scallops and it made me feel like I was on the coast of Spain in food heaven. Third visit to Tofte's Table since the open and ever time is just flawless- blow your mind excellent! This begs the question - how long will it be before everyone else realizes what I learned day one and what other reviews, even professional reviews have failed to hit on even though they attempt to capture the essence here? That Tofte's Table is simply preparing the best plates, in the perfect ambiance right in metro Lake Country and metro-Milwaukee's own back yard and doing so with Michelin passion - Tofte's is that good! Seriously.... The secret is out, the word is building, the food and service here is eye wateringly well done, but here is the difference- it's honest, sincere, natural and lovingly executed. The heart of the difference, the Tofte's themselves. You will find the Tofte trio Cristina, Jason, and their daughter Agatha, out in the restaurant assuring that things are moving smoothly, that guests are welcomed and that guests are simply Satisfied in the truest sense of the word! This evening, while playing Mr. Mom, I dined with two of the most particular critics I know, my 9 year old son Andrew and 14 year old daughter Ele! Ele noted that each plate was so full of flavor, so perfectly prepared, so perfectly timed that she never longed for more because there was something with different and incredible flavors just around the corner. She marveled at how quickly and well timed the food was coming out considering how packed the house was... and it was packed at 8:00 PM with a charming and causal buzz at the bar of patiently expecting dinners in wait. She kept saying OMG, this is incredible! My son very quietly consumed everything on the table with not even a comment... folks, not-a-word! He just kept eating plate after plate then nearly fell asleep... that picture is worth a thousand words, because he is given to near expletives at other establishments, some "fine", commenting on how slow the service is, how few cherries there are in his kiddy cocktail, that his food is cold, it's too salty, it's too loud, it's too bright, it's too hot in here, where is our food, there is too much ice in the water... not a word from him here other than "I'm FULL!" Out of the mouths of babes as they say because there is nothing to complain about here... the perfect balance on all points! This will not go unnoticed or causally noted for long... the Tofte experience has hit and it will only get bigger! The secret is out... you heard it here first... let's talk in a year so you can tell me I was right. Don't screw this up Waukesha because the future of Waukesha will ride in on the Tofte's shirt tails... bank on it...literally! This is a Tofte tide and it will be raising all boats. Absolutely our favorite spot in the Wauwatosa/Milwaukee area. The food is amazing and the drinks and desert are to die for. I've been here many times and have never had a bag experience. This place feels like a big city restaurant except that you didn't have to battle it out to find parking. I love that they manage to feel very upscale while maintaining a menu that revolves entirely around reimagined comfort foods. I was immediately struck by the creative menu and everything we tried was a delight. Duck confit tostadas and braised short ribs were just two of the standouts. I believe they switch their menu up quite a bit, but these dishes both seem to be staples. It's small plate style; the portions for the meat dishes are fairly generous. Between two of us we had a starter and 3 dishes plus dessert and that was plenty (actually could've probably gotten one less dish...). The ambiance is intimate and classy, but casual. Great place to bring the parents, a date or anyone you'd like to impress. I will mention that the menu prices are definitely on the higher end for the area, but it's well worth it. read more
