We had several shared apps notable the watermelon pickle bacon , the onion tarte the best. Pizza - lost boys everyone wanted to try, oh and squash blossoms, a fun one . Delightful, snappy , colorful, tasty. No substitutions on food would be challenging if you have strict dietary restrictions. Service was excellent. Upon our arrival, the host asked if we had a reservation. When we said no, she walked away. It seemed to be an issue that we didn't have a reservation even though we were able to be accommodated right away. The quietness of the patio on a Friday evening was striking . No ambiance, no background music even though it was the perfect evening to be outside. It was so quiet that it was a bit awkward being the tables so close. It felt like we were all whispering. Our server handed us the menus and told us what the specials of the day were. The 1 star is for the great service given by her. It's a bit excessive when patrons are warned beforehand of NO changes to the menu. The creativity of the chef seemed more important than the desire of the customer. My husband ordered the hamburger and it had no flavor and the fries no seasoning. It looked like something they didn't put effort in making either. He also said that the iced tea that was cloudy. I ordered from the specials of the day: the duck ramen and, even though it looked great and smelled great, it didn't have a lot of flavor. We were shocked to find the price by the time the check came. Beware of the prices of the daily specials. Don't be misled by the name of this place (it's not a cop bar) or the location nestled between factory/ industrial buildings in Germantown. We sat in a cozy booth overlooking the kitchen and shared the rib eye and the beer-battered whitefish -- both were sheer perfection. Amanda "Phoebe" and Talia (first day on the job -- she killed it!) took exceptional care of us and Chef Jodi, Angie, Lucas and Chris all came to our table to say hello. We went for lunch, but the menu was actually their all day menu. They are farm to table and the menu changes often depending upon availability anyway. I had crabcakes. This was probably a mistake because I don't know if there are any winter crab farms in Wisconsin... I cannot diss the flavor. However, I couldn't really eat them with a fork. There was nothing cakey about them. It was more like a crab puddle. OK. The staff was wonderful and so was the dessert. So... They are pricey, but close to my house. This is one of our favorite places to go when we visit Milwaukee. Their bacon wrapped watermelon rinds are out of this world. Yep, you read that right! I loved this spot in the middle of Germantown! We had a group of 6 and we had no issues finding a table on a Saturday night which was great. My husband is skeptical of farm to table restaurants but after he took one bite of his steak he said 'this should be on Beat Bobby Flay'. Our food was beautifully plated, tender and delicious. Wow! Absolutely unbelievably great taste and display of food dishes! It's a Friday during lent, but don't worry this joint comes in top of the line with their fish fry! Not your normal fish fry because you ain't getting chips or French fries, but you're getting this incredible slaw with fried carrots on top of a beer battered white fish. I cannot express how delicious and yummy this dish is. Just look at the picture!!! Oh yeah btw we got the best fried green tomatoes I've ever had, hands down and some killa desserts! Yummy food! I had two appetizers and I dream of all the others that are on the menu. I tried the onion tart which is basically a tortilla layered with flavor and cooked until crispy. I also had the lemon gnocchi and was pleasantly surprised on how much I liked it and kept oohing and aahing with each bite. I'm definitely not one for casting stones but a BIG FAIL for one of the very few establishments left in town. We like trying new things we have not had before and my wife and I decided to try the daily specials, Halibut and Ramen with Duck. I had questions about the Ramen Special. I asked specifics to which the server answered, so I thought I'd give it a try based on her recommendation. One bite and I knew, holy cow, super spicy. My wife who likes spicy food had a bite and said oh yeah, this is way spicy. When the server approached us, she said," nobody ever told me that it was spicy and nobody's ever mentioned that", she also stated she never had the dish, )but had no hesitation recommending it). So now my said she would eat it and I ate my wife's meal which frankly I had no interest in but did it anyways as there was NO offer from the server. The server made absolutely no attempt to ask whether or not I was satisfied. Rather, she looked at my wife and said if you need a glass of milk I'd be happy to get a glass of milk if it's too spicy. Needless to say we both went to this restaurant and ordered food and neither of us ate what we originally ordered. Almost $80 later, nothing but here's the check. I wanted nothing more than to praise the restaurant but how can I when this happened? I'm bummed to have written this.... Very disappointed read more

The food was OK, I would call this place alternative dining. The staff were very nice and respectful. The food was just unlike anything we've ever eaten. I also think the food portions are a little slim for the price. Overall, it was a nice establishment, but we just weren't prepared for what it served. I swear I reviewed this place after we ate there last month but I guess not; so I'm going off memory...came here for lunch. we had some kind of fried elote balls or something as appetizer which were amazing, I remember those! I had the chicken and waffle sandwich as well which was also an experience I won't forget; I think my wife had a sandwich of some kind (sorry don't remember) and it was just ok. Tried the carrot cake which I heard was fantastic, but wasn't the style we typically like; was good but carrot cakes can be made so many ways, we like others better...service was great but music was annoyingly loud for for a lunchtime meal. This is really a 4.5 for me - I'd never heard of Precinct until it was suggested by some friends for dinner. The restaurant is a little tucked away but worth seeking out, even if you have to drive from the city. The space is interesting - there's a cool graffiti mural, a huge open kitchen (with a counter so you can watch the action) and a nice patio for warmer times. It's a big open space so it will be loud during busy times and I'd love to see them take the lighting in the dining area down a notch or two. It's really bright in there and that can feel a little sterile/cold which this place definitely isn't! Anyway - the food!! We started with bacon wrapped pickled watermelon rind which I had never heard of - wow!! Get these! They're sweet and savory - kind of like a bacon wrapped apple pie. So good! The menu is really creative in terms of offerings and preparations and the prices are very reasonable. I had a cumin pork loin with black beans and sweet potatoes - well cooked, well spiced and very delicious. If you go on Thursday they have a TV dinner special which was pork ramen, chili spiced broccoli, miso deviled eggs, pineapple cake AND a shortie of beer (Rhinelander of course) for $12! That's a great deal and it's very popular and can sell out. Service was fun and friendly and the kitchen is doing a great job cranking out interesting, high quality food. We arrived 10 minutes ahead of our reservation to find a grumpy bartender who seemed irritated by our existence. Once seated, our waiter, Sarah, was courteous and cheerful. Our food was not good. Steak was drenched in SALTY sauce. It was difficult to eat. The Thai curry garlic shrimp lacked flavor-no hint of curry. It was nothing exciting or creative, basically an oily buttery sauce, and I left half of it on my plate. My daughter ordered a salad (fresh veggies and great dressing) with added chicken. The chicken had grizzle and after an unappealing bite she left most of it on her plate. The manager addressed our concerns (claimed there was no way we could have bitten into grizzle?!) with a smile and friendly disposition, but $300 later, we left uninspired and hungry. I dined here in summer of 2024 and had a great meal; I've also purchased gift cards so friends could come and try the food. I was excited to bring our guests from AZ to this restaurant for a memorable meal. Sadly, what makes it memorable for 3 out of the 4 of us was the awful ribeyes on 8/6. When we ordered the steaks we questioned our waitress as to why she wasn't asking how we wanted them prepared; she responded that they all come medium rare-fine, with us, that's what we would have ordered. They came almost well done. They were tough and hard to chew. When she came to check on us I told her that I was not looking to be comped not did I want them to make another one but I told her to take a look at these steaks (with no red in sight) and to please let the chef know that there was no way these were even close to being medium rare. She returned with the craziest explanation I have ever heard. She said that the cook said "all steaks come to the table medium rare-BUT that because we had been eating ours (more like, trying to eat them) for over 15 minutes that now they were overdone!!! Are you kidding me? She was young and I am sure just parroting whatever the kitchen told her to say. No manager ever approached the table; no cook cared enough to come and look at their so called medium rare steaks. It was embarrassing and kind of infuriating considering the prices they charge and the ambiance they claim to have. We will never go back. Two other quick mentions: we ordered the excellent feta/hot honey appetizer-delicious-BUT we still had over half left and all our bread was gone. We asked for a 2nd loaf and were told that they "don't do that". What?! I looked at her incredulously and asked "should we just eat the rest with a spoon?" She went back and checked and then relented that "ok, we will do it, but just this time". She never mentioned that we would be charged for it. Yet $8 for a loaf of bread showed up on the bill. Lastly, as much as I wanted to come home that night and blast this place for lack of customer service and terrible steaks; I instead emailed the restaurant on their website.. Explained our experience-shared that their customer service is subpar suggested maybe they had a bad batch of ribeyes and pretty much gave the exact review as above. Then I waited and waited and waited...still NO RESPONSE from owner or anyone. That should be enough to warn you away from spending good money at this establishment. They do not value their customers and they obviously think they were not wrong. read more

The Precinct no longer served my favorite burger, The Bully, maybe to be politically correct. But what I ate was good. Precinct - Tap & Table is definitely our new favorite! We enjoyed the old Café Soeurette in West Bend and were excited to give this a go. So glad we did! Perfect curbside pickup. The crab cakes were truly more crab than cake. The pork sliders and slaw were the perfect size with great flavor and texture. I wondered if Pizza-the-Hutt's smoked Gouda stuffed crust would be the focus of the pie, but it really served as a delicious treat- with that perfect bit of toasted Asiago on top- to finish the flavor-packed slice (before you started another!) The kids loved the sausage pizza. We also had to try the tots- still crunchy after a ride home and balanced well with a little seasonsed salt and the sweet tomato jam. We appreciate being able to truly taste the quality and sense the pride they have in their work, even from a take-out box! Can't wait to try the rest of the menu. read more

Date night dinner there last night (Saturday) ... Food was good, signature cocktails were much too sweet, service was terrible. Veggie pudgie pie, pear salad, and whipped feta were great. Bison carpaccio was totally overwhelmed by sundried tomatoes. Other items were good. When we arrived for our reservation, the hostess erased our name from a large, comfortable booth and seated us at a tiny circular 2-top on the side instead. No explanation, but we could clearly see her doing it. Felt very unwelcoming, and after we ordered a selection of small plates the table was very cluttered. After we received our food, the waitress interrupted us three times while I was very visibly eating dinner to ask if we wanted any boxes. Then a fourth time to list the dessert options. Over half the food still on the plates, very visibly still eating, near full cocktail glass. Why are you interrupting us to hustle us out the door? We had a reservation, and there were plenty of (nicer) empty tables around us the whole 90 minutes we were there. The ambiance is hard to figure out - like they were going for eclectic but it ended up disjointed. Urban exposed pipes, graffiti style art, bistro tables with mismatched silver cutlery. Maybe it was an off night, but I'm upset we paid over $100 to be treated as if we weren't welcome. read more

This is currently my favorite restaurant - menu is so unique and everything is delicious. We order the app short rib queso fundito and grilled Cesar salad every visit - really hope they never go off the menu. Tonight we also tried bacon wrapped watermelon rinds - amazing!! So was the balsamic mushroom Swiss burger. We always order way too much food just we can try a little (or lot) of everything. Come here for dinner!! It's so good. It has been a while since I had visited but I can say that the food here is great, local and tasty! In addition, the drinks are great. Most of the menu changes as it is a farm to table style restaurant. What is pretty cool it is locally owned and it is in the old Germantown police station, or the name, Precinct. It is usually fairly busy so I'd suggest reservations during busier times like weekends. Overall, the food is great and so is the service. Take some time from going to the chains and learn to enjoy your food! You will not be disappointed! read more

My second visit here was shortly before Covid hit. First was ok, this was really great. Skipped the pudgie pies this time and instead went for a signature burger and pizza. Both on recommendations from the server, both were excellent. Beer list is big, but a little heavy on sours and fruit leaning flavors... nice choices, but could benefit from some classic porters, stouts, saisons, ales and such. Craft cocktails are interesting and not overly sweet. Wine list is respectable too. Server was really on point too. While allergies keep her from sampling and commenting on every dish on the menu, she was still able to intelligently describe and suggest. Like they don't even give you salt and pepper. The chefs feel they made the dish perfect and the customer has no right for any adds or changes to the dish.
