Came here for lunch with a friend on a Monday afternoon. Got there about 11:30 and it was pretty slow, one table currently seated. It took about 5 minutes for someone to show up to seat us but after that I would say the service was pretty quick. Since it was slow it was pretty quiet in the restaurant which allowed for normal conversations. We both ordered burgers and overall enjoyed what we ordered. I ordered the Bacon Bleu burger which has good flavor but the bottom bun got soggy and I had to flip the burger when putting it down. I noticed my friend also did the same things so assuming his bottom bun was also soggy. The fries were pretty standard. I had ordered a side of ranch which came half way through the meal, so good thing I still had some fries available. I wouldn't shy away from coming back here, especially for lunch. read more

Friday Night: We reserved a high top table in the bar area as I like a bit of commotion and enjoy the busyness of a restaurant. That was a mistake. A rather large party came in and had to wait for their table and the overflow was close to our table. One woman's hood from her jacket was close to one of our plates.. The very nice a capable waitress, Meghan, tried to push them closer to the bar and did apologize for the inconvenience . The food: - Cup of Clam Chowder which had plenty of clam, tasted good, and was a bit starchy but would certainly have it again - Almond Coated Whitefish: I am not much of a fish fan and prefer firm fish when I do order it, but thought I would give it a try. It was very tasty and well prepared with an imaginative garnish - Perch Fish Fry. My wife said it was very good with a serving of 5 filets and the usual sides. - Wine was a couple of glasses of Duckhorn Sauvignon Blanc which was very good. It did not have the crispness of a New Zealand or Australian SB and was more like a very awake Chardonnay. this was our second time there in a week as we are looking for a "go-to" restaurant on Fridays. Just moved to the area and gave North Star a try for lunch. The staff was super friendly but did mention that they don't always have someone at the front so feel free to walk in a little further until someone sees you. We were seated right away as they weren't really busy. The vibes are kinda upscale but we weren't too dressed up and didn't feel out of place at least for lunch. They started us with bread that was delicious and warm with rosemary on top. The butter was soft and possibly even whipped. The burger was very mediocre - it was cooked more than expected for a medium burger, but the sauce and cooked onions were good. The fries were crispy and pretty perfect. My husband got to the pesto chicken pizza that was cooked very well and had the perfect flavor! Much better than my burger honestly. Overall a good experience with average food, I'd definitely be willing to come back to something more formal at dinner and see how that menu is. read more

My husband picked up an order for 2 tenderloin medallion dinner (9oz) $$$$, when he got home we realized the mash potatoes were missing from BOTH dinners. I sent a message to the restaurant the next day and never heard from them. No apologies or remuneration for the part of the dinner missing. We returned he on a Monday evening. we've been coming here for years. Once again we had outstanding service and a wonderful meal. Three of us all had almond crusted white fish.We were all delighted. A satisfying bread basket was served shortly after we ordered. The house side salads were great, as always. Two people had white wine and one had diet cola. Again, all good. The restaurant is well layed out, comfortable and quiet enough to carry out a conversation. It was clean, as always. I always make reservations, even on weekdays as it can get busy quickly. Went there with friends for a luncheon on 9/23/25. Everything was excellent. I had the grilled cheese sandwich with French onion soup. The meal was wonderful especially when topping it off with crème brûlée. The others had the salmon BLT and flourless chocolate cake while another had the crispy chicken salad. Their remarks were equally wonderful regarding both the ambiance and quality/taste of the offerings. The only reason I took off one star is because of service. While, for the most part, it was fine; the whole place seemed a bit understaffed for a noon-hour. The service was very slow with some woefully long pauses among check-ins that contributed to a very long time taken up. In general, I'd highly recommend this place. read more

Was looking for dinner in this area, and honestly, I feel like Brookfield doesn't have a ton to offer in terms of fun/unique places to eat. This place was "okay". The hostess who initially greeted us wasn't very pleasant. We sat at the bar and got dinner - the bang bang cauliflower was really flavorful, although maybe a little bit overpriced for what it was. The black and bleu burger was also really good. The French onion soup was good, too! The vibes maybe speak to an older crowd if that makes sense? We were looking forward to a relaxing evening after a hectic week and had reservations at 6 pm. We ordered drinks and an appetizer. Our waiter asked for our dinner order at the same time. Our appetizer, drinks and dinner all came at the same time, ten minutes later. We were given our bill within 15 minutes. At 6:35, our not so relaxing evening was over. A group of gals went for an early lunch. We were treated to a great time. Ambiance is great, server was friendly, and the kitchen was super accommodating. Presentation was beautiful - the pictures came out great with minimal effort! Fried eggplant and zucchini I kept grabbing the zucchini so didn't get to try the eggplant lol. I'll have to reserve opinion on the taste since I'm on keto and I scraped off the breading. Another friend wanted all my breading lol. She said it was delicious! Caramelized gouda burger The kitchen was very accommodating to my keto needs. I went bunless, with the thousand island sauce on the side. I subbed fries with a house salad with ranch on the side. I don't know if this is their usual way, but they really filled the plate up with the side salad. It was almost as big as my friends' salad plates. Thanks! Daily Special - scallop salad The salad came with 3 jumbo scallops atop a bed of romaine lettuce, cucumber, tomato, avocado and bacon. Roasted beet and goat cheese salad with chicken The grilled chicken ($6) on top of the salad was huge and the roasted red and yellow beets were delicious. Otherwise, the salad itself wasn't too special. Grilled chicken club This looked more like a burger than a club sandwich. And tasted like one too! Portion of the fries were also quite huge. Creme Brûlée Not as sweet as other creme brûlées I've had - which is great! I always love a delicious dessert that isn't smothered in sugar. This one was top notch. Flourless chocolate cake personally, not my favorite fare. I guess a chocolate cake needs flour. But I also wasn't loving the raspberry sauce drizzled over it - this was really sweet (unlike the creme brûlée). The raspberry sorbet was great, but the sauce was overpowering. This was a business lunch for four people. We sat in one of the three or four dining areas. Noise level was average for lunch especially the way it was all broken up. We all had salad dishes. This nice little restaurant is a cross between a gastropub and bistro. The service was excellent and they had a very nice craft cocktail menu with a large selection of Old Fashioneds - a nice touch for a Wisconsin establishment. The menu was pretty robust with a good variety of sandwiches and more substantial main courses. I had had the spicy chicken sandwich and opted for the beet salad. Both outstanding. I also absconded with a few of my friend's truffled fries - also delicious . We also split an order of Frio Miso. Food and service were great. Met with friends it's a great place because the noise level is minimal making it easy to have a conversation.

We went here super last night. Had the pan fried whitefish and rice. Others had the coconut shrimp. Both were a little over done.

We dined here on a Saturday night and this establishment is clearly a local favorite for the 50 and over crowd. While the food here is fine, there's just nothing memorable about it. Maybe because there's little problems attracting diners to this restaurant that is perhaps why they do little to make anything stand out, but what really angered me about my night there is that while the waitress gave us ample time to choose from the menu, she failed to let us know there were specials that evening and that error made me feel like we'd been cheated. When I heard a different waitress informing a nearby table of the night's specials, I was seriously considering asking our waitress for the specials as well and then to ask her if it was too late to change our meals from what we had ordered, but my husband me urged me not to since the kitchen had probably already begun preparing our dishes. Anyway, I don't like spending above average prices for an average meal with incomplete service. Very disappointed and likely not to return. read more

Very, very yummy! I stopped in for lunch while nearby for work. I chose North Star because I saw there were some vegan menu options. The interior is pleasant and the staff were all friendly. I ordered a salad with half the vegan mushroom pizza. The waitress checked with me to make sure I knew I was ordering a pizza without "real" cheese, which I appreciated. I thought the pizza was great! I was happily stuffed after my meal. Total cost of entree, iced tea, and tip was $18. Pretty reasonable, in my opinion. A note for those looking for vegetarian/vegan options: There are three vegan options I saw on the lunch menu so, not a ton, but more than some other restaurants.
