I love this store. I have taken lots of things there to sell. I have also gotten this from here as well. The prices are good and there a lot of new items with the tags still attached as well. Today I picked up a new Y3 jacket a couple of designer tees and my hubby got some A Wang shirts and 2 of them were also brand new with tags. Will be back'

So I got my amazing, amazing, worn only once Louboutin Decolette 868's here for $200 - basically 70% off. These sell for at least $400 used on eBay, for a comparison. So yes, I'm thrilled about my amazing deal for these classic shoes. But, as other reviews have said, I noticed the snootiness of the employees from the minute I walked in. I had some lady watch me carefully with her eyes the entire time. While looking in the class cabinet at some bags, another lady behind the counter basically provided no service. The male who checked me out kept talking about how these items are second hand and there are no returns.... duh. I know this is a second hand store for one, and yes I understand the policies that are in effect at most consignment shops. I also wonder at the brand/designer knowledge of the workers. I saw a well-loved leather (probably faux leather, actually) W118 by Walter Baker jacket hanging for $250. That's a ridiculous price, considering NEW W118 by WB items are less than $200. Just do some research - W118 by WB and WB are NOT the same thing. I hope someone doesn't get ripped off. This would be a great store if it weren't for unhappy looking employees and lack of brand knowledge (so it seems)

Pretty cool place to check out, overrepresented by some Japanese labels that are usually hard to find elsewhere, and stocked full of stuff. Price to quality/true value is highly variable, I tried on 5 things and ended up getting one of them. Tax is included in the price tags. Two cons: the clearly and very damaged stuff--why do you think anyone is going to buy a sweatshirt with huge coffee stains across the front or a ripped up cardigan? and the air conditioning drip from the ceiling that's probably ruining all the merchandise. The owners and store associates are watching for thieves on their security camera at the checkout desk area and discuss this in Japanese (courtesy of my friend who was there with me and speaks Japanese). I would visit again to try my luck, but I've definitely seem better operated consignment shops.

It has a fun and lively vibe with a mix of vintage items, handmade crafts, jewelry, artwork, clothing, collectibles, and food stands all in one place. What we liked most was how easy it was to spend a few hours just walking around and exploring different local vendors and small businesses. The market feels very New York, with lots of unique finds and creative products you do not usually see in regular stores.

It made my visit to the Bazaar all the more pleasant. I've been coming to Grand Bazaar for more years than I care to remember, having taken a break for ten -- okay twenty -- years. Can't put my finger on why, perhaps I'm not as interested as I used to be. While the market is vibrant and busy, it's not as it was. Perhaps not as much diversity in wares. (I used to get a lot of pottery, art and vintage jewelry.) Back in the day, my friends and I would go to the East Village and buy funky old fur jackets for a song. I kind of had that in the back of my mind coming here. (There are many vintage coat vendors.) But prices have risen considerably. (What hasn't?!) The market is open Sundays, year 'round. Despite buying nothing, I know I'll be back. (Maybe coats get cheaper when it's warmer.) Plus, I like strolling around on the upper westside, which has a different flavor than the eastside, where I live.

I am sure I took lots of photos and did a review but they're not posted here. Bottom line is they have a wide variety of unusual items that people donate. But when things are normal, the lighting is excellent, the clothes are well organized and the staff is always, and I repeat, always polite and friendly. They are business people and this is their business and customers need to understand that. As with any business based on donations, you can find wonderful things at very reasonable prices or you can find nothing at all to your liking. But that is why Unique Boutique -- and each item is unique -- is so much fun. A note -- someone reviewed it saying "I called to ask about furniture and the guy said no and hung up the phone..." This is what I mean about customers not understanding retail...you asked a question, he answered it and why should he stay on the phone with you ? There is no way this store has the space to accommodate furniture and once that is clear, there is nothing more to say, so salespeople hang up. If you would like them to apologize for not taking or selling something impossible, that is what you expect culturally, but other people do not think that is necessary in what is not a personal relationship. You asked a question, you got an answer, good bye, move on.

Dear Housing Works Management,…read more I am writing to formally request reconsideration of a store credit or reimbursement for purchases made at your 23rd Street and Third Avenue location in May. On Saturday, May 23, we purchased approximately $1,100 worth of merchandise, including several large furniture items that remained at the store for later pickup. We fully intended to return within the next day or two, on Sunday, May 24th, or Monday, May 25th. Tragically, that same weekend, our apartment suffered a devastating fire on May 24th. As a result, we lost all our belongings and were displaced without a place to store or retrieve the purchased items. Both Julien and I were hospitalized--I for four days, and Julien for twelve days--further delaying our ability to address this matter. When I was eventually released, I returned to Housing Works and explained the full situation to Will, one of the Housing Works associates. He appeared to be very understanding and hoped to offer us a credit. However, a few days later, we faced another devastating loss--our dog, Aspen, who had been battling cancer, passed away just a few days after the fire. We had to drive upstate to bury her. This additional loss further delayed us, and it was several more days before we were able to contact Housing Works again. Ironically, we have been supporting Housing Works and its mission to help homeless individuals by shopping in your store for over six years. It is especially painful that, as a charity raising funds to support the homeless, when we needed help the most, we were denied. Instead of receiving the items we bought in good faith, and the support we expected from a charity, we now find ourselves homeless, living out of a car. We would appreciate any support you can offer, especially now that we are on the other side of this crisis. We ask that you clarify what services you provide, given that your name is Housing Works, because right now, it does not feel like your organization is working for us at all. If this matter cannot be resolved, we will have no choice but to escalate the issue, including reaching out to public media, legal assistance, and other advocacy channels. I hope we can resolve this amicably and promptly. Thank you for your time and understanding. Sincerely, Julien Uphill & Thomas Boucher 10 Waterside Plaza, Apartment 27H New York, NY 10010 Contact Number: Thomas: 646-656-9824 IMG_0283.jpeg IMG_0290.jpeg IMG_0291.jpeg

I'm appalled by the way Jonathan, the owner, responds to many of the 1-star reviews here on Yelp. Not only does he appear to respond mostly to negative feedback, but his tone often comes across as rude and overly defensive. Jonathan, having a business for 30 years doesn't give you a free pass to be dismissive toward people who are simply sharing their experiences. There's always room for growth and improvement. Instead of being combative, take the time to really listen to your customers and consider their concerns--this could lead to positive changes and an even better shopping experience. That said, I visited this consignment store a few days ago, and Jonathan himself was actually very helpful and knowledgeable. He took the time to explain the consignment process and was very pleasant throughout. The store itself is a bit overcrowded with clothing and shoes, which can feel overwhelming, but the selection is solid and the pricing is reasonable considering the focus on high-end pieces. While the clothing leans more mature, there are definitely options for all ages. This shop is exclusively for women--I didn't see any men's items, but that's not a dealbreaker for me. The clearance section is located upstairs, and while I did find a lot of regular designer names, I didn't spot many high-end pieces there aside from a few pairs of shoes. Also, the upstairs area definitely needs better ventilation--AC or at least a few fans would make a big difference, as it was uncomfortably warm. As for handbags, I might have missed them since I was more focused on clothes and shoes, but I didn't see any notable high-end options in that category during my visit. I plan to return soon with more time to explore. Despite my concerns about how the owner responds to feedback online, I didn't experience any issues personally during my visit. I actually had a positive shopping experience, and I would recommend this store. I just hope that in the future, there's some improvement in how customer feedback is handled publicly--it really does make a difference.
