I've been to Tokyo 101 on a few different occasions. They have a nice environment and the food is good. However they need to work on their service. The server had no clue about the menu. We had to keep hunting her down, because she would not take the initiative to come to our table. It took forever to be greeted and when someone did come he pointed me to our table. Just because there's a pandemic and you're short staffed doesn't give the ones working an excuse to be lax. We are all feeling the effects of what's happening. i love this place. the wait has never been more than 10 minutes, plenty of parking and their menu is very appetizing. last time i was here, we tried 6 different rolls and a few bottles of the unfiltered sake. My sister and I came here for a quick bite and to our surprise, there wasn't a wait for lunch. There were awesome lunch specials at Tokyo 101 which included sushi, fried rice or a bento box which had a little bit of everything. I opted for a shrimp fried rice, where my sister went for the chicken teriyaki bento box. The bento box has loads of options, but if you were interested in sushi you only had the choice of a cali roll. Our service was fine, nothing over the top, but I do have to compliment our server with his attentiveness. HE noticed when our waters were empty and would come over with a pitcher rather than asking if we'd like more water. Wow! I have never been so disappointed in the the lack of customer service from a restaurant. We scheduled a party for a Birthday with a large group and told them we would arrive at 7:30P.M. The entire party was present at 7:30PM and was told an hour wait. 90 minutes later tables were still not ready for the scheduled party. A friend and I went out for a quick bite to eat and catch up we wanted outdoor dining and Tokyo 101 has just that. It was so challenging for me because I am on a antihistamine diet so it restricts almost everything I can eat. Our server Jesse, was so patient and amazing as we went through the menu on what I could and couldn't eat to actually get me a meal. A special shout out to the kitchen chefs who prepared me a delicious plain chicken and white rice. The chicken was moist and delicious and the rice was light and fluffy. This is my go to lunch spot after a long morning of shopping in Mayfaire. I am obsessed with their bento box lunch specials. In general I love a good bento box because it provides the opportunity to try all the things! I am the type of foodie who gets excited about trying a bunch of different things to taking a shot on one or two items. Tokyo 101 does a particularly good one in my opinion. All boxes start with a salad with ginger dressing and include mixed vegetables and fried rice. For my last visit I selected the filet mignon, gyoza and California roll. I got all of this for under $12 which is a good deal for the variety you get. The filet was tender and juicy and they gave a great portion of vegetables (read: included items other than a bunch of onion). The roll and gyoza were also excellent. The rice was a above standard with some veggies mixed in, but to be fair rice isn't my thing. They get bonus points for having jasmine tea, which I have had trouble finding at restaurants lately. All in all the lunch is a good price for the amount and quality you receive. Service is attentive and you will leave full but not stuffed. read more

I have very high standards when it comes to sushi and although Tokyo 101 was good it wasn't amazing. We started dinner with two salads and beef gyoza as an app. My wife and friend loved their salads which were huge. We all shared the gyoza which I had trouble enjoying because they were served cold. My friends told me not to send them back and ate them anyway. We all ordered sushi. I got the smoked salmon and spider roll which were just average and was skimpy on the eel sauce. Overall the ambiance was great but they used avoid seating people by the door in the winter because we got a terrible draft everytime the door opened.
