Went here on a Sunday at 5:30. Place looked closed. Wife wanted to go here because of the owner/chef. We sat at the bar, only one other couple there, and maybe 2 other customers in booths. The owner snapped at the person who sat us we weren't sure why and felt maybe we weren't supposed to be seated at the bar. We were greeted by a young server very nice, smiling,welcoming. I ordered a Orion beer, wife had a green tea. Wife ordered some plates. They came quickly. My wife was so excited to try this restaurant, so she ordered and I ate. Everything was incredible. The sashimi , sushi, all melted in your mouth. So many different flavors with each plate. Not over powering sauces which most places do to hide the low quality of fish. Not here each piece was a culinary deliciousness of flavor. The rolls are not typical all rice little filling. The rice enhanced the filling. No need to use soy sauce! The ginger they supply was so fresh we had 4 servings of it. The restaurant is a 50s style diner, but it doesn't matter what the place looked like with this incredible food. We've NEVER had sushi like this. It's expensive, but you are paying for Japan quality sushi. With all the sushi spots and AYCE places I see why it was so slow. I asked if it gets busy, and was given a few jokingly sarcastic answers from I think owner, which was ok cause I joked back and he got it. If you want the experience of going to a master sushi chef restaurant in Japan, go to Tokyo Boys. You'll pay for a great experience. We hope when we come back to Henderson to return! read more

I came on a weekday night and it wasn't too crowded. Parking was easy find. We were greeted nicely by the servers. However when asked about certain menu items they weren't that knowledgeable. The inside looked like a diner which was a cute theme. Food overall was pretty pricey and tasted okay. I forgot the name of the roll we ordered but that was rly good. It had a good freshness to it. 8.5/10 Beef udon 6/10: the broth was too sweet for my taste but it had a good amount of meat in there to make me satisfied Tempura udon 7/10: it def had a lighter taste than the beef udon. The noodles were nicely cooked and the tempura also had a nice crunch Green tea fried ice cream 10/10! Def the best part of the meal. It was warm on the outside and cold on the inside. A5 wagyu, caviar, uni, all make appearances presented in fun ways. Comparative uni tasting or dry aged fish anyone? Just be sure to request the lobster tempura. Trust. What do you get when you smash together a 1950's retro-style diner and a Japanese restaurant? Tokyo Boys! I've lived in Henderson for almost 25 years and I've driven by Tokyo Boys a handful of times, but never visited them until recently. We did not have a reservation (this was my fault for not checking in advance, since coming here was my idea), so we were told that we would have to wait for a period of time before we were given a table. We waited about 15 minutes, and we agreed that we would leave and find something else if we weren't seated over the next five minutes. Surely enough, when we had about a minute and 20 seconds left on my phone's timer, the hostess came back and told us that she had a table ready for us. Talk about worth the wait! The interior could use a little refresh. I know that they're trying to stick with the 1950's theme, but some of the walls were dirty and looking a little rundown, plus the cushions in the booths need to be replaced. The one we were sitting in was easily ripping apart from years of wear and tear by many past customers. When we go to Japanese restaurants, we always get two different sushi rolls for ourselves, plus one side to share. Kyle and I shared a side of Gyoza and we ordered the following sushi rolls - Philadelphia Roll, California Roll, Tuna Roll, and Dragon Roll. What was interesting is that we got the sushi rolls first and then the Gyoza. Normally, the appetizer comes out before the entree. I dipped my sushi rolls in soy sauce, just like I always do. The taste of the soy sauce was literally dancing on my tongue on top of my sushi rolls. The Philadelphia Roll and the California Roll are always my favorite type of rolls when I visit Japanese restaurants. They're just that good! Kyle also enjoyed his Tuna Roll and Dragon Roll. I haven't been back in a long while. While the sushi hasn't changed, I wish we had the same experience from what I had remembered. The service was a little different. While we asked for some guidance, it was a little vague. I had to ask what fish was being served on the plates. The chirashi bowl was really good and I always love a fried shrimp head. You pull up to this place and see that it's an old diner, and you think to yourself, "What have I gotten myself into?" Some of the finest Sushi fish in the Western United States, that's what. Yes, it's an old diner, but that's where the doubt ends. You walk in and are immediately greeted by the chefs, and taken to a table. you sit down and you think you are at the Tsujuki Fish Market in Tokyo. The owner, Hiro, was originally part of the team of restaurant professionals at Osaka, Nobu, Blue Ribbon, Bar Masa and American Fish before starting this gem. Much of the fish served at Tokyo Boys if flown in fresh from Japan- and it shows. The fish is some of the freshest and tastiest Sushi I have ever had. While it's a ways from the Strip, it is worth the cost and time to get here- and while there are good Sushi restaurants on the Strip, I feel this place is even better and the cost is much lower. I usually come with a group and we have a blast eating and drinking, and the staff is excellent. Chef Hiro himself comes to the table to check in. and that speaks volumes how much he cares about his food and customers. We usually have Omakase style- they just bring food until we say stop. The Ten Don is a bowl of shrimp and vegetable tempura over a bed of rice and eel sauce. The Una Don is the same except with eel instead of the tempura mix. We liked our bowls and have had similar at other restaurants. The kakuni is braised pork belly and was amazing. Tender, flavorful chunks of pork and sliced hard boiled eggs in a delicious broth. As a Henderson local, I am proud to say I've found my favorite sushi bar across town. Big shout out to chef HIRO San and his team. Arigato gozaimasu!!! From the outside the place looks like an old school 50s diner and it probably was at some point. On the inside you are instantly greeted with a warm irasshaimase welcome. The place is clean, multiple tables, old school booths and large sushi bar seating, clean restrooms and plenty of dining room options. With NBA playoffs on, the TVs were a nice touch. At the time I was dining solo and was very comfortable. The sushi quality was amazing, breathtaking, even mouthwatering as you lust on your next bite. Spot on quality with sources such as Kagoshima and ehime. Thank you for the Bluefin and kanpachi. Had several bites of sushi, couple of rolls and finished with a delicious matcha brûlée and black sesame panna cotta. One thing I've learned throughout the years is that you can't judge the food quality by a restaurant's initial appearance. But dang, this Japanese izakaya really took the cake with its chrome retro diner exterior and its glowing red Tokyo Boys signage and diner booths. Upon entry however, the vibes felt like a casual izakaya: welcoming, full of regulars at the sushi bar, and home-like. I decided to take a chance on some of the 1 piece nigiris (saba, benitoro, madai, harame, tamago, amaebi with a lightly fried head), a negitoro handroll, and 1 special oyster of the day (believe it was a kushi oysterday). My sushi was chef's kiss - so fresh and melt in your mouth good. The negitoro handroll was also the biggest handrolls I've ever had, jam-packed with fatty tuna pieces. I could've eaten two of those and would've happily called it a day. My friend ordered a negitoro handroll, an omakase appetizer (chef's choice of what 3 appetizers you were going to get), and a Japanese lasagna. The omakase appetizer was more adventurous than what I was expecting my friend to go for, but she said that she enjoyed all of it -- even the jellyfish appetizer. She also said liked the lasagna, which was a baked roll filled with crab, avocado, and cheese, and the handroll also pushed her into the point of no return (in terms of fullness). We definitely slept happy that night. The service was great from beginning to end. When the omakase appetizer initially came out, the server who brought the dish didn't tell us what things were. Another server came by and asked if the dishes were explained to us, and then identified each dish. I will be dragging some of my Vegas locals here next time I visit. read more

She had time to ask other tables if they wanted dessert while they couldn't even get our drink orders. So after 15 minutes I had to stand up and go up to her and ask if she had forgotten about us. It took another 5 minutes for another waitress to take our orders. She even sat us in the corner away from everyone else. I used to live across the street from this diner when I first moved to Las Vegas. When it closed and changed into a sushi place, I was skeptical. It took me ten years to finally give it a try and I've been kicking myself ever since for not coming in earlier. Walking in, it's so funny that's it's still a diner inside. The tables are a bit cramped but that's how diners are so it wasn't that bad. We had reservations and it wasn't PACKED so we sat immediately, but the waiting area, if you did have to wait, was large with a lot of seating. Service was good, but it was a bit busy inside so it wasn't the best. I do have to say that anytime I needed something, we would flag someone down and they would help us right away. We had our water and green tea refilled constantly too. Also, the chef was really gracious and friendly when we walked in and out. So many people came up to him when they came in and out, making it feel like a family atmosphere and I loved that. Made me want to be a regular as well. Now to the best part... the food! Wow! Fresh and authentic is what comes to mind first. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate AYCE places, but that's not sushi to me. This is. We got the $120 sashimi boat, a few rolls and apps. Not one thing wasn't amazing and delicious. This was an experience and I'm glad that we went all out for it the first time. It may seem a bit expensive, but I thought it was very affordable and well priced for value. The house made desserts were really good too. I had a black sesame panna cotta on my menu at work at one time and people thought it was "weird." I feel validated that Chef Hiro has this on his menu. Such a cute venue! They kept the diner layout but also has a sushi bar for your omakase experience. Chef Hiro is such a humble character, very friendly and provides delicious sushi and sashimi with reasonable cuts and well balanced ratio of rice and produce. Every fish and seafood offered with their omakase meal was fresh, and you can tell that they were imported recently as there's no fishiness to any of their pieces. I'm sad I only discovered it now and hope they continue the legacy here as it seems like it's their 11th anniversary. We asked if the ten don sauce comes on the side because that's what we want and our server said yes. But it came with the sauce poured in already so I was a bit bummed out. I finally got to try this spot as it has been in my bookmarks for the last year. I got the Agedashi Tofu for my appetizer, and the 12 piece Sushi Combination (I chose tuna for the optional roll). The tofu was delicious and made perfectly with 3 tofu pieces, with the warm soy sauce broth, topped with grated daikon and chopped green onions. The miso soup that was served with the sushi combo was great, very simple with cubed tofu, seaweed and fresh green onions. The sushi was okay, but I probably would not order this again. Maybe it was the sushi rice that didn't do it for me. I think they make all there cooked items deliciously, and would want to try more of those next time. The fish is decent quality, so I would probably want to order the sashimi next, and the sushi rolls. Their service was great, and they were very attentive and quick. I'm as Sushi ignorant as they come. I do love the rolls here. Are they made correctly? I have no idea. All I can tell you is I haven't had a bad one. They are costly. But justified. The staff were very attentive, keeping the glasses filled and checking in on us often. The place could do with some general repairs or an overall facelift. A strange burning smell took over and it sounded like they were trying to play music in the background, but it was muffled. I went on yelp to search for Japanese food and this lovely restaurant popped up. I went in and it felt very nostalgic and reminded me of this diner I used to go to during my childhood with my family. It was charming to see a blend of Japanese culture in the interior design with American culture, very harmonious and I just love all the songs that were playing in the restaurant! I think the owner has excellent taste in music as well as the food. My family and I got the Takoyaki and we all agreed it was even better than the ones we tried in Osaka. It had a nice crisp on the outside and was filled with octopus on the inside and nice and hot. The calamari was nicely fried to perfection and was not heavy with oil and batter. I love how it's reminiscent of classic Chinese and Vietnamese style of salt and pepper calamari with very thin slices of peppers so that it can be eaten easily without being too spicy. The soft shell crab was perfect and by far the best soft shell crab I ever had and would comeback here already just for that, the batter to soft shell crab ratio was perfect and fried to perfection without being oily. The 9 piece sashimi set was very delicious and fresh and makes me consider trying the omakase next time. I really enjoyed the oyakodon it was very tasty and comforting. My family enjoyed their bento box with teriyaki salmon and chicken katsu and Tara saikyo yaki. Each dish was truly made with love and care and you can totally tell. Everyone working there deserves praise and recognition for all their talents and friendliness. We were taking photos of each other at the restaurant to capture the memories and the nice waiter offered to take a photo for us and did a great job! :) I will definitely comeback. read more
