Came here with my beloved to celebrate our anniversary. So glad we found this hidden gem, as it's right down the street from us (usually prefer going to Chinatown but that was 30 mins away). This actually might be our new favorite spot!! Unfortunately they were out of uni & said it's best to call in for it b/c they usually run out of stock for it beginning of the month. A lot of the items I actually wanted to try were OOS too (such as the bluefin tuna uni carpaccio, Hokkaido scallop carpaccio, o-toro, & Japanese sea bream), which was a bit disappointing, but our server Sean was amazing, it made up for our experience! He suggested for us to try their dry aged fish special & it was actually pretty good! We got the Sima Aji which was surprisingly buttery. The miso seared Hokkaido scallop was good just as well. Ankimo was actually okay in my opinion, & tasted more on the fishier side. Overall was definitely a pleasant experience & highly recommend calling to check which items in stock before coming in. My husband and I were hanging out in the area and we stopped in for a late dinner. The staff here were super nice. We were seated inside right away. The place is small and it was cozy and intimate inside. I liked it! There is a mix of tables and chairs and the table that we were seated at had booth style seating on one side. There is a wide variety of items on the menu that had mix of appetizers, sushi roll, and more! We ordered a few rolls off the menu and they had a smaller menu that had a selection of nigiri and sashimi. I did see Escolar on the menu which is one of my favorites so I ordered two orders of that! My bestie and I had a moms night out dinner on a Monday night (5/25/26) and this was the perfect spot. The restaurant is moderately sized - best for small groups, but could accommodate one large group (maybe 10 people or so). The ambiance is best described as "dark" and "modern." The service was wonderful - at the time we went, only a couple people were working (basically one server and one chef) and the restaurant was about half full. Despite the amount of customers, they were still quick and friendly. The food was amazing! This was some of the most delicious sushi I've ever had. The menu was pretty expansive and offered some more creative items. We tried the seaweed salad, Kai Hotdog Rice Roll (friend gave this 5+ stars), Japanese Lasagna (I gave this 5 stars), and a couple other dishes that I can't currently recall. Everything we had was amazing and we finished it all. This is truly a hidden gem right off Water Street - believe all the 5-star reviews on here. I'm very picky and sensitive with seafood, but Kai Sushi truly impressed me with its freshness. If you want premium, fresh dry-aged sushi, this place is a must. The sushi was incredibly fresh, and trying dry-aged sushi for the first time--I loved the texture. And you have to get the uni here! So fresh ~ Every bite was heavenly and delicious. The spicy tuna roll was amazing, and the udon had a rich broth with perfectly chewy (쫀득) noodles. The karaage was crispy outside and juicy inside. You have to try their beer--the blue bottle pilsner (see photo). Easily the best pilsner I've ever had, and I heard it's ranked #1 in Japan. The house Sauvignon Blanc was also excellent. I've driven by Kai Sushi many times, not realizing it was there until about two weeks ago, and noted that my wife and I should try it, since my favorite sushi place is a bit of a drive, and Kai Sushi is less than 2 miles, door to door. It's just off of Water Street, and easy to miss because it's nestled in a nondescript building with a few other businesses. No flashy signs, nothing to draw attention to it. I read the reviews here, which are all glowing! That convinced me even more to give it a try. We were not disappointed. As another reviewer stated, this place is a gem. The ambiance was excellent. Lighting was subdued but not so dark that you could barely see. It was just right and gave the place a bit of an upscale vibe. The only thing that "ruined" the mood was a couple of people talking loudly and a screaming child. Kids are going to be that way in public sometimes. It's the parents that make you go hmmm, allowing their kids to act that way in public. The staff was attentive, even going so far as to suggest that we might be ordering more than we could eat. What restaurant does that, encouraging you to rethink how much food you're ordering, suggesting that you order less?! We appreciated the gesture, but reassured our waiter that we were good, and that if it turned out to be more than we could eat, we could take the rest home for later. The large menu has something for everyone, even if they don't care for sushi. They had my favorites, Dragon, Spider, and Philadelphia rolls, but also had a Golden Philadelphia roll (fried tempura Philadelphia roll). I ordered the Dragon, Spider, and Golden Philadelphia rolls. My wife ordered a California Roll. We also ordered the vegetable tempura. The vegetable tempura included broccoli, sweet potato, onions, and asparagus. The asparagus was a nice surprise. It's the first sushi restaurant I've been to that had it. It came out hot to the table. The sushi tasted extremely fresh and flavorful. And, as our waiter "predicted," it was more than we could eat. We ended up taking some of the sushi home. Kai Sushi is my newest favorite sushi restaurant. We highly recommend this gem in the heart of the Water Street District. read more

Heard they finally opened so we came in for lunch! No AYCE options but that's ok! The have quite a few no rice rolls for me!! It's a little dark inside but cute simple decor. We were greeted right away and told we could pick where to sit. It was fairly busy but we found a great spot. There are no menus as they are in "soft" opening. QR code is at the table the server explained as she took our drink order. We order 3 rolls and an iced tea. Food was just as everyone said fresh and delicious! The owner/chef checked on us. The server recommended a roll 777 per the mister's request. He said it was delicious! My roll was so flavorful! And the sauce it came with magnificent!! What a hidden gem!!! I had myself and 4 teenagers who I always joke have champagne taste and cavier dreams. They loved it. I loved it. The crispy rice bits were full of fish and flavor. Can't tell you how excited I was to hear about a new Sushi spot in Henderson. Water street has grown so much since I was in high school and I have been hoping to get a premium sushi location so close to home. Kai sushi is just that! My sister and I, alone with my 2 month old went right at open on a Saturday morning. The venue was empty and we were greeted right away and promptly seated. Light music was on and a large screen in the back had nice visuals playing, I specifically remember the music playing because it was not too loud where we could have conversation without feeling like I had to speak up over it and I appreciated that. We started with miso soup, I will say the soup was piping hot, had to let it cool down a bit, but delicious as most miso soups are. We started with the Paradise 2 roll and the Green Chili Tempura roll. I immediately noticed how FRESH the roll was, it was delightful, I love ponzu and ordered a side of spicy ponzu sauce and it went great with the roll, the sauce itself was delicious as well. The green chili tempura roll had jalapeño tempura, not spicy for me but the flavor was perfect. I would order both of these rolls again. I think in Vegas where you have AYCE so readily available, you make think the prices are a bit high, however you will not be disappointed, the rolls were large, fresh and worth the price. We also ordered the yellowtail carpaccio with yuzu and baked mussels. To drink we had hot sake accompanied by a Kirin beer, (beer was b1g1 btw). We ate everything so fast I didn't get photos, however next time I will be sure to take a picture of everything since I will certainly be back! read more

The sashimi combo was served with 9 pieces, including fresh wasabi and toro! The owner and waiter were so accommodating. My gf wasn't a fan of one of the sauces and the owner brought over 2 different sauces and even sent us home with extra sauce.
