If there is one local small business that I believe deserves massive recognition, it is Sushi and Joy. I found them a few months ago through their daughter's TikTok's (she's gone pretty viral for them.) And what caught my eye were the jumbo nigiri's! So I knew I needed to try them at some point. They are located in Henderson off of eastern and pebble kind of on the side of the shopping center. It is very much a mom and pop restaurant, a complete hole in the wall and you know when you found one of those type of restaurants that's gonna be really good! I've gone there quite a few times over the last few months, I've dined in once and all of the other times I've gotten to-go. It is not an all you can eat sushi restaurant, It is à la cart. For the portion size I would say that the prices are very reasonable. You are not getting small pieces of fish or rolls, they're pretty massive. Dining there is quality over quantity. If you're dining in or getting to-go, you have to understand that this restaurant is run by a mom and dad, it is a literal small business and that it takes a long time to get your order. It is not a fast restaurant, everything is made fresh and made with love. And if you are going there, you need to have the understanding that you will not get your food quickly, but it is worth the wait! When I have done my to-go orders online it's taken over an hour sometimes? an hour and a half? Sometimes I've ordered to-go in the restaurant and it's taken 45 minutes to maybe an hour? Depends if they're busy or not. Their online order portal is pretty easy to navigate. I've had sometimes where the portal will let me pay ahead of time and then other times it's told me I need to pay when I get to the restaurant. I absolutely LOVE their jumbo nigiri's!! Their jumbo seared salmon is my favorite! it is gigantic and you get six massive pieces of seared salmon and a really good amount of rice, perfect ratio for something that big and if you are someone who loves salmon (like me lol) and wants to get the most salmon possible go to Sushi and Joy. Everything is so fresh, the portion sizes are like no other restaurant I've ever been to, like I tend to do a lot of all you can eat sushi and tell me why I can get a jumbo seared salmon nigiri and then like a roll or two and I am super full! Their jumbo combo is fantastic! You get three pieces of jumbo salmon nigiri's, two pieces of salmon sashimi, and a salmon roll. So you can get your salmon fix pretty easily from one of their combo meals. Their rolls are also phenomenal! I've had their who's your mommy roll which is really good and really spicy! Their baked Mountain roll is also really good! When I did dine in, my friend got one of their Ramen bowls and said that it was amazing. Great food, but not the most welcoming service. I was so excited to try Sushi & Joy after seeing their hype online recently. I place my order on their website at about 5:45, and it said it would be ready in 35 minutes. I arrived around 6:15, and my order was just being finished. There were two girls in front of me in line, and the cashier was telling them they had to order online, which I thought was interesting - I hope I misunderstood, but I think she was explaining that they were closing their dining room well before closing. The cashier was fine, but said as few words to me as possible - very little interaction. Was so happy to finally try this place out after seeing the daughter's tiktoks on my FYP for so long. Be prepared for a wait! Whether you order online or in person, whether there is a line or not. They are a real mom & pop shop, I only saw the mom working both the front and back, I think I saw the dad pop out from the back maybe once. The mom was extremely sweet and kind when she was taking everyone's orders and everyone was very patient with her while waiting for their food so that made me happy. We paid $70 for 5 rolls and 1 drink, maybe a little steep but I figure that fresh sushi is more expensive the further inland you go. Next time we come back we will definitely have to try the nigiri, even if we aren't nigiri people they looked incredible at other tables. The shrimp tempura roll, the dragon roll and candy roll tasted great, very happy with those. The spider roll was okay, i think it needed a bit more seasoning on the soft shell crab. The coco roll was also okay, better than the spider roll imo, maybe just a little too much coconut but it did balance out the sliminess of the salmon well. The business name is accurate, I legit got both sushi and joy from my order! Found this spot through a friend's (Angel K, 5 star review below) social media post, specifically for their "fat salmon nigiri" - they have regular salmon or a truffle option, in a thick-cut 6 piece order as a special, for $22.95. You can easily find this online to order, and with tax, tips, and fees it'll be about $30 which feels a touch steep - maybe just walk in and order it, but it wasn't obvious on their printed menu. In any case, these are thick-ass slices of buttery salmon and I really enjoyed my order. I am tempted to try the truffle flavor next time, and wish they had a half and half option. This meal made a good lunch for me, they do offer a similar combo with nigiri, sashimi, and a roll. Their rolls also appeared to be competitively priced - just makes me bummed that I don't live nearby and I'm rarely in this area. That being said, I went by to pick up an order at 4PM and the lights were off and the dining room had a few dirty tables with food still out as if diners had stood up mid-meal and walked out? I found out about this family-owned spot on TikTok. I've been there a few times now, (always pickup), mainly because of the nigiri. My go-to order is the Lion King Roll and jumbo salmon nigiri, either seared or fresh. It's not easy to find nigiri that's as fresh and plentiful as this. (Can you tell I love salmon)? I appreciate how they package takeout orders. Sauces are always on the side, and the ginger and wasabi's are separated in foil or everything's in divided containers, so they don't touch the rolls. As someone who never uses either (and forgets to ask for my meal without them), I love that extra care. The sushi itself is good and there's a great variety. That said, I am not a big fan of the dine-in atmosphere. There's plenty of seating, but it's always dark and I've never really seen anyone eating inside. There's also noticeable clutter behind the counter, such as random boxes and folded clothes. During today's visit, the lady at the front was very friendly but rang me up with soaking wet hands, which left my card and receipt wet. That was very off-putting to me because she came from behind the curtain, so I don't know if she'd just washed dishes or washed her hands or something. My granddaughter who just turned 16 and was really looking forward to eating in this place (I guess it went viral on instagram)so we thought it was a great place. We got there and its a tiny place that probably seats 20 people. we had a party of 13 and they told us that they weren't able to accomodate us because we were so many and if other people got there they wouldnt be able to help them. I FINALLY had the chance to check out Sushi & Joy off Southeastern near the 215 this past Friday night with my little sister, and I can absolutely see why they're gaining so much attention on TikTok and social media. This is a true mom-and-pop shop, run entirely by the owners (just mom and dad), which plays a big role in both the charm and the challenges. The food quality is excellent and definitely lives up to the hype, but because of limited staffing and growing popularity, wait times can be long. I waited about an hour for my two orders, and during that time I did notice a few customers leave due to the wait. That said, the food is worth it. The quality, freshness, and consistency really shine. I enjoyed everything from the salmon nigiri to the jumbo seared salmon nigiri--absolutely delicious and beautifully prepared. Prices are reasonable for the quality, and this is not an all-you-can-eat spot, which I actually appreciate given the care put into each dish. Service was doable considering the circumstances, and the atmosphere is simple but welcoming. Nothing fancy in terms of décor, but the restaurant is very clean and comfortable. Food is actually good found them due to a tik tok video it is very far from my side of town but since I was in the Henderson side I decided to finally give it a try. We really wanted to like this mom and pop shop, however to food and service was subpar. We came here after seeing their daughter work so diligently to market their business on social media. We came in on a Friday night, greeted by stares from the customers. Weird. The tables were half occupied, quarter available, quarter unbussed, and nobody at the front. A woman finally comes out all stressed, yet apologetic, as she explains that there was a 50 minute wait with all the orders. Seems like there was only one guy in the back fulfilling orders, also frantic. We decided to stay and dine in. We ordered 6 rolls, all with interesting names from a large menu of raw, baked, fried, tempura shrimp, no-rice options. While we waited the nearly 80 minutes, we watched AI sushi preparation clips on the tv. We also observed multiple customers who ordered to go and drivers for food delivery platforms show frustration towards their long waits. This could explain the prior stares mentioned earlier. Finally, we receive our food. Freshly made and nicely presented, but taste was just okay. Very heavy on sauce and imitation crab. The lasagna roll was too cream cheese forward. My husband and I just finished doing a 1000 piece sushi puzzle and the cravings got to us (I attached the puzzle pic in here hehe). I luckily remembered this place from the owners daughter's Tiktok. We decided to order takeout and ordered the salmon, yellowtail, and eel nigiri as well as the Yuri roll and Eastern roll. Upon arrival I noticed the parking area is plentiful and going inside was welcoming. The place felt cozy but we didn't dine in so I wasn't really focused as my hungry self wanted to get the food and go home. I was handed my food and greeted with a nice "have a good day" as I left. When I took my first bites of the salmon nigiri I tasted how fresh and melt in your mouth it was! It was so filling and the rest of the food was delicious. I tried Sushi & Joy a few weeks ago and absolutely loved it! I saw this spot on TikTok where they had these giant nigiri and had to try. It's called sushi and joy and it is on S Eastern right before the 215. It definitely has a mom and Pop kind of vibe like small business. Nothing crazy with the decor, but it is clean. I would describe this kind of like a sushi restaurant plus a café because they have a bunch of other things like Ramen, but not just to have it to say they have it, it is legit delicious ramen. The have a bunch of apps and hot items from the kitchen. What stuck out for me specifically was the nigiri I got. The huge nigiri are a secret menu item and they only have a handful of cuts of fish and sometimes they do run out. I recall salmon, and seared salmon, and maybe truffle salmon? And you don't order by the piece, it's an order of six if I remember correctly. They are massive. I would say they're easily the size of like three pieces of regular Nigiri. I remember the fish quality and freshness being really tasty. I'd list this under neighborhood sushi cafe. They are a small family owned spot, seems like the lady who is our front is the owner and she takes all the orders and runs the food. She was very nice and I can't wait to go back! When I went here today, a lot of people were waiting and I also noticed some angry customers complaining about how long they waited. I totally understand where they are coming from but I just wanted to say that yes there is a long wait that is why I would suggest putting in a phone order ahead of time. She will usually tell you about how long the wait will be. So that helps a lot. This place did not disappoint. Super fresh fish, huge portions, and very nice flavor on these unique creations you won't see at other sushi restaurants here in Vegas. Salmon bomb (8.5/10) was inari with rice topped with diced chunks of salmon, masago, creamy sweet sauce, and green onions -- the salmon was super fresh! Seared salmon nigiri (8.5/10) had a very nice smoky flavor to it, slightly sweet from the sauce on top. Fish was cut thick. Buldak roll (7/10) had spicy tuna with cream cheese, topped with seared salmon, a slice of green pepper, sriracha and buldak sauce. I watch the daughters YouTube channel and always see her sushi Sunday that she gets from her moms restaurant. The rolls always looking amazing. We finally had the opportunity to visit's Las Vegas and we made it to Sushi & Joy. My favorite was the Joy roll but all the rolls we had were delicious. Decided it was time to try a non AYCE spot in Las Vegas. I saw this place via TikTok from the owners daughter and she was raving about the food. So I had to try it for myself. Now coming from an AYCE background, I tried comparing that experience to this one. The ambiance is very quiet in there with some music in the background. It is very easy to have a conversation unlike some lively and busy places. The service from an AYCE compared to here was unfortunately a bit slow. There was only one person taking orders and probably another in the back making food. However that's not why I thought it was slow. For reference my husband and I opted to dine in. We were seated and given menus and were ready to order pretty quickly after. However a couple came in about 10 mins after us and opted for "To-Go" and she took their order before ours. The to-go couple ended up sitting down at a table and by the time food was ordered and ready. The to-go couple had gotten their food and ate it before we got our rolls. Granted they ordered to-go but ended up opening the boxes in the restaurant and just stayed and ate. So it left a little sour taste in my mouth. Now as for food, my husband does not eat any fish. They had a large tempura section where he was able to find a roll to try. Here is what we got: 1. Gyoza: super crispy and great filling. The sauce was a bit light and wish it had a more citrus note. 2. Avocado Roll: basic and plain. My husband likes it with more rice than seaweed ratio, but each person has their own preference 3. Salmon Plate: the pieces of salmon were nice and thick. I do wish more citrus was used or even a ponzu on the side instead of just soy sauce 4. Snow White Roll: this was 80% crispies which is what my husband likes. The roll itself was good, just a lot of "creaminess" 5. Red Rock (listed under fresh rolls but is not an actual roll): This is like a tuna stack and it is presented beautifully. However the seaweed salad was super overpowering that I could not taste anything else 6. Lion King: I love this roll wherever I go. I loved that its baked! The sushi nigiri and inari is not as big as in her videos so I was pretty disappointed. The price is fair for a la carte but the sushi is not a la carte quality. Definitely worth the hype! I got a takeout order of the spicy tuna holic and the 2-piece seared salmon. Both were very good, but the seared salmon absolutely blew me away. The fish melts in your mouth, and everything tastes incredibly fresh and clean. You can tell the sushi is made with a lot of care. I honestly couldn't find a flaw. I'm not a huge sushi fan, but this place really impressed me. I only have two small complaints. First, the takeout bag was wet--likely because the person packing it had just washed her hands. Not a huge deal, but it didn't look great and was a little off-putting. Second, the pricing on the jumbo seared salmon nigiri feels excessive. I chose the 2-piece instead of the 6-piece because $22.95 for six pieces is hard to justify, especially when the spicy tuna holic is $13.95 and loaded with fish. Extremely frustrating experience. I placed my order at 5:40 PM and received an email stating the wait time would be 60 minutes. I made a 20-minute drive, expecting my food to be ready at 6:40 PM, since this was supposed to be the first dinner of my 21st birthday weekend. When I arrived, they asked me to complete payment, which I was fine with. Then I was told my order wasn't ready -- and hadn't even been started. After already waiting the full hour and driving there, they said it would be another 30 minutes. At that point, I was extremely hungry and completely caught off guard. We had seen posts about this place and their jumbo seared salmon sushi and had to try. Service was great and it was early Thursday evening so there was no wait! Cozy and cute place. Definitely will be going back when we are in Vegas! read more

I love the food here, but my only complaint is how LONG i waited. for reference, i ordered 5 items (rainbow roll, california roll, golden philly roll, spider roll, jumbo seared salmon) and i was there for almost an hour and a half. i think the only problem was that they are extremely understaffed and it was really busy at that particular time. which i understand is not their fault, but still something to account for. otherwise the food was really good and worth the hype. also, i think the jumbo seared salmon is probably what took the longest but im not 100% sure read more

The food was good however, they need more help. We were there and all of the tables had dirty dishes except one spot. It took an hour to get our food. There was one other table that came in after us and they got their food immediately. We probably won't be back. read more

I was very skeptical when I didn't see an exposed sushi bar. But I was was willing to try. There was only one other table in the restaurant when I arrived. I was asked to order & pay before sitting down. I ordered a simple Philly roll and then went to the bathroom. The bathrooms were clean but no paper towels. It was early in the day so obviously no one restocked the bathrooms before opening. I waited 20 minutes for my food, it came out with the other tables sushi order. The roll was great! I'm very picky. It had salmon, Avocado & cream cheese like the menu said. It was rolled tightly & had Sesame seeds(amazing how many chefs can't execute this) The location is great for me. Nice little 10 table place. It's not all you can eat but not a problem. It was fine but probably won't return in favor of other places. The service was good. Clean two restrooms. Had J-Pop on the left screen, a vast mix of American music without videos on the right that matched the restaurant music. Not too loud. On the other wall various flowers and such trees on another screen. We had the spicy seafood ramen which was actually spicy and pretty tasty. One full shrimp, a few clams, and various seafood. It was hot and the ramen noodles were good. The Sexy lady roll, lasagna lover roll, and sashimi carpaccio were good. They had plenty of sauce so no soy sauce was needed. The wasabi was very weak and could eat a tablespoonful easily. read more
