Been here two times with my family and the sushi is delicious and fresh. The Gia roll is one of my favorite rolls of all time! Highly recommend. The Tiger Roll is very delicious too. I drove by this place earlier today and decided to try it for dinner. I got the chicken yaki noodle plate. It was basically teriyaki chicken, noodles, some broccoli, zucchini and cabbage I think. It was pretty good. I would have liked more chicken, or some bigger pieces of chicken. The teriyaki was pretty mild flavored . I normally like my teriyaki chicken to be really saucy, or a thicker teriyaki sauce. My wife got the same thing, except she got hers spicy. She said it was really spicy, and didn't care for the spice that they used. My daughter got the orange chicken bowl and gyoza. She said that she liked it. I am so disappointed, I wanted this to be good so badly. We moved in around the corner about 6 months ago and after having Jack's next door be mediocre at best I decided to drag my family here. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The immediate smell of fish when you enter the door should have tuned us the other way but I had to know.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. the miso soup was terrible, I've had better from the grocery store packets, the sushi was not sushi... the rice, oh boy, it was cold and tasted like plastic, and for fried plate had 3 pieces of vegetables in it???? The ramen was not cooked properly and the egg was way overdone. We waited so long for our food and the young man serving us was so nice, $63 and we came home sad and hungry. Please do better Tokyo express, make some needed changes, use fresh ingredients, you're definitely charging for it. read more

This place has really gone downhill. My husband ordered two miso soups and a cali roll to go and they were both awful! Miso tasted like dirty sink water and had no flavor or salt to it at all, and through California roll had a weird taste that made me spit it out because I don't want to get sick. Depending on which server works depends on how well my customer service is. The food is usually pretty good. But my salad was red and the cook wouldn't replace it. The young gentleman with the glasses greeted me immediately and gave me ice cold water right away. Great customer service and helped me go over the menu since I had a couple questions. Stopped by for a quick work lunch. It's located in a strip mall in Carmichael. Very nice greeting and service during my meal. Not much ambiance but that's not why you come here. My husband and I are so happy to have found this small quaint place and absolutely one of the best Ramen place in Sac. The broths are packed with big flavour and their appetisers are amazing. I love the Unagi (Eel) rice and the Ajitsuke Tamago (marinated egg). My husband likes the Karaage Chicken and the Tonkatsu Ramen. Overall, the food is delicious, good portions and reasonably priced. Decided to try this place with a friend since I drive past it all the time. We ordered lunch to go, since we had stuff to do. We didn't order ahead of time because we wanted to peruse the menu, so we expected a wait. Took about 10-15 minutes from when we ordered to when we got our food, so it was super quick. There were only a couple tables occupied, but we came at an odd time on a weekday so we didn't expect it to be packed.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The staff were nice, and patient as I figured out what I wanted. We got a lot of food to share; we got the sesame chicken, the spring rolls, the fried gyoza, the beef noodles, tempura combo, and my friend got their sashimi/nigiri combo. Everything was delicious! You also get a good amount of food. The gyoza are on the smaller side (2 bites for me, and I have a small mouth), but they're packed with meat and veggies so they're deceptively filling. The tempura was light and crisp, not soggy at all. The sauces provided were fantastic. The sesame chicken was so succulent and juicy while the breading was crunchy. And my friend raved about the sushi. They're open late too, which makes it more tempting for when I'm on my way home after work. The price is good too. The sushi was good but the ramen was questionable. They served me an overcooked hard boiled egg instead of a soft boiled ramen egg, which was strange. The water also took my food to the kitchen, where I couldn't see it, to package my food to go, which made me uncomfortable, but I'm sure he didn't mean anything by it and just didn't know the implications that could possibly have.
