I stopped in tonight very hungry and I just made a quick decision to pull in. The menu is only listed on the board. I asked the manager if I could have a hibachi chicken salad and she told me that they don't have any salad or ginger dressing. She told me about the entrees but I didn't want carbs. So, I decided to take the chicken entree with vegetables. She gave me 5 kinds of veggies. I asked for ginger sauce instead of white sauce and they don't have that either. That was very disappointing since I don't eat white sauce. The place was extremely clean and the manager really took pride in working there and we had a good conversation. She told me how they marinate their chicken daily and everything is fresh. The portion was gigantic. I ate some there and took the rest home and put the chicken on a salad. II felt like proving was alittle high but if you enjoy a large portion and someone that takes their job with pride-go eat at Tokyo Express. read more

I found Tokyo Express Grill online and thought the pictures looked good. After seeing mixed reviews, I decided to give it a try, but I was very disappointed. When I first walked in, there was no one else there. The cashier saw me but stayed on her phone even after I approached to order. She didn't acknowledge me until she was ready, and then finally asked what I would like. I ordered a hibachi bowl, and I also noticed the grills looked like they hadn't been used all day. When I got my food, the bowl was small and definitely not worth the price. The chicken was undercooked, and it didn't smell or look appetizing. The rice was hard, and it tasted like it had been microwaved. Please trust the bad reviews. I would not recommend this place. read more

Good food but seriously y'all get my order wrong EVERY time. I ordered 2 steak and shrimps and the lady who took my order added chicken as well. I didn't want to pay for that, hence why I only asked for steak and shrimp. Last time I ordered 2 entrees and same scenario the lady got them both wrong. Food is always phenomenal and reasonably priced. Service is polite and quick. The restaurant itself is about what you'd expect for the area so nothing ground breaking, however they do keep it almost spotless so that's fine with me. This grill has delicious crab Rangoon's , fried rice, zucchini & onions, & teriyaki chicken. I ordered the teriyaki steak & chicken & I won't do that again. I ordered the steak to be done at medium & it came well done, so it was dried out & didn't have the delicious flavor of the teriyaki chicken. The teriyaki chicken was delicious with a sweet sauce on it. The portion was large enough for me to split it into two meals. There were 6 crab Rangoon's thus I had 3 & the next day heated the other 3 in my air fryer. I ordered from DoorDash & don't like that they charge more for some dishes than the price you pay when you go in & order. They already charge fees for their services so I don't like them increasing the prices of some dishes. read more

Pleasantly surprised with this express grill. I was on that side if Wilmington and am continuing my quest for a good hibachi to go spot and so far this is my favorite in Wilmington. We got the steak and then a chicken hibachi. The meat was perfectly seasoned and cooked. With your entrees you get a good amount of rice and onions/zucchini. My only complain (and it's minor) is their white sauce containers were only half full and it was so delicious we needed them to the brim and probably more containers (which we would happily pay extra for). The space is bright, open and clean. The girl working the front counter was friendly. They have a lot of nice options. I went with the jumbo shrimp hibachi meal to go. It plus tax and tip was $20. The food came out in a decent amount of time, maybe 10 minutes. They include 2 ramekins of sauce and utensils. Really my only complaint is that the shrimp tails are left on the shrimp. I know a lot of places do this, I just don't understand or agree with it. My meal had about 6 or 7 pieces of shrimp, which I later realized means it's about $1/shrimp since the veggie hibachi is $7 and the shrimp is $14. Next time I'd just go for the veggies, not because the shrimp wasn't good, it was delicious and cooked perfectly but I didn't add much to the meal. As I got to the end (it was a big enough portion for me to have 3 meals from it) there wasn't any shrimp left and it was just as good without it and for $7 it doesn't seem worth it to me. The hibachi meal comes with rice, grilled onions and zucchini plus broccoli. I loved it. It was really good. I'd go back again for sure. I would also like to try some appetizers. I might take the $7 i save from not getting shrimp and order the crab rangoon next time. read more

Tried out TEG for the first time. I had called in an order, the staff was friendly and repeated back my order to make sure it was all correct. They are a small hibachi takeout restaurant, the kind where you walk in and walk up to the counter to order. There are a few tables in the front to dine in or sit at while you wait for your takeout order. We ordered teriyaki chicken, hibachi steak, hibachi shrimp and hibachi jumbo shrimp (wanted to try them all). The cartons came well packed with food, were all freshly made, the veggies cooked just right, not limp and soggy. The shrimp are the smaller kind about quarter sized, the jumbo are the half dollar size and come with tails on. The fried rice was cooked with a soy sauce. We enjoyed them all. The crab Rangoon are the cream cheesy kind - not very crabby but good for what they are. The spring rolls were made ok and looked great, but weren't very flavorful inside. I'll probably skip them next time. Overall a good takeout experience and we will be back for more. read more

Ordered several times & each time I've been shorted on the white sauce. Even the extra ordered. Tonight ordered 4 extra, asked the guy at pickup if the extras were in there & not received one of the extras ordered. Got home & opened up, called to them to let them know in an irritable tone. Guy who answered simply hung up on me, called back to verify that he did in fact mean to hang up, "yes, you were yelling at me". Not even close to yelling but one things for certain, they don't have to worry about me dropping anymore money there! The guy Michael in the review post is so wrong he did not mention he was talking to a child and anyone knows that calling with disrespect to any place of business is not the correct thing to do. His order may have been wrong but when the restaurant tried to fix the order he just got even more disrespectful instead of letting them correct the order. His bad experience was because he was rude and doesn't know how to talk to people, although his order was wrong he still ate the food.I highly recommend Tokyo express grill to all the food is AMAZING with flavor not to mention their portion sizes are more than decent. To whomever this message reaches, I want to kindly advise you to get rid of that nasty, disrespectful female you have taking orders and answering the phone. Foremost, she answered "Tokyo Express. What do you want?" and I guarantee you she will say otherwise. Secondly, I made a mistake ordering at the wrong location and when I kindly expressed my apologies, she rudely hung up. That girl is ghetto, with no etiquette, and no respect for anyone, especially the customers. God knows she will not make it far in life with that type of attitude. She can hit my line and I will show her how to come to me correct. But I swear, if I ever step foot in that place and recognize that voice... she'll be having a worse day than she had today. I couldn't care less if she has any personal issues outside of work, but she needs to learn how to leave that nasty attitude and her problems at her front door.
