First time at Tokyo Express. We've been wanting to try this place, but we always fill up with popcorn after seeing a movie at SMG. Anyway, they greet you when you come in. It has a homey vibe for me. The food comes out fast, and the ramen was perfectly hot. We ordered sushi, jjajangmyeon, and champon ramen. They were all good! The champon ramen is perfect for the cold weather. It has a lot of toppings - pork, clams, shrimp, and mussels. It was a lot. I didn't even finish my bowl. They use thin noodles with their jjajangmyeon; I prefer thick noodles, but that's not a deal-breaker.

We stopped by the little gem on our way to Reno and this place was pretty good. We ordered the miso ramen. The kid liked it. The miso flavor she said reminded her of mom's cooking so I guess I'm a pretty good cook. The only thing she didn't care for was the meat. She said she would rather have tofu. My youngest kiddo also slurped the ramen. I ordered a roll but forgot the name. I enjoyed the roll. But the rice was a tad bit hard. But the overall flavor of the roll was good. I like how this place does not drizzle sauce on the roll so you can actually taste the fish. Which did not leave a fishy mess. The hubs ordered the bimbimbap and he was satisfied. I tried it and it was flavorful. Last we ordered a kid's chicken teriyaki. Compared to other places that offer kids meal. This one has less chicken and rice and normally a kids meal at other spots will fill my son's belly but this one he ended up eating some of his sister's ramen. Also ordered a mixed shrimp and veggie tempura plate. Loved the lightness of the salad dressing. The kids loved the tempura batter. Overall this place is cute and worth a try if you are in the area.

Very clean, well lit restaurant. Friendly staff and quick service. We ordered the bulgogi bowl and the dragon roll, both were delicious. The dragon design with the sauce on the plate with the dragon roll was a very nice touch. The roll had perfectly balanced flavors, will definitely order again. The bulgogi was very tender and flavorful.

Very welcoming and kind staff. Good order was placed fast. We went 2 adults and 2 kids and everyone was satisfied. Delicious. Happy. And some garlic edamame with calamari. Super yummy. Good music. Definitely coming back.

So far this place was really good. We ordered the chicken teriyaki and the beef yaki noodle. I really enjoyed the chicken teriyaki plate. They do however give about 3/4 cup of rice. For how much chicken it has, it seems a little light on the rice. But the chicken was really good and cooked how I had imagined. The Beef Yaki Noodles were alright and were a pretty good chow mein like dish. We'll likely order from here again.

Pan Fried Gyoza and Caterpillar Roll

I was in the area running errands and had just picked up a sandwich next door at Jersey Mike's for my husband and saw the Grand Opening sign outside. I love sushi, so I decided this would be my lunch. I walked in and was immediately greeted by a staff member behind the counter, they asked if I was dining in or taking out and when I said it would be to go, she gave me a menu to look over. They do have a menu on the wall, but they offer so many items that the text was a bit too small for me to read. I looked over the menu and decided to keep it simple for this visit and get a Caterpillar Roll ($13.50) and Pan Fried Gyoza ($8.50). I paid and took a seat by the doors to wait. They have a good amount of seating inside and it's open, well lit and has a fun mural on the wall. I was there at about 12:45pm and there was a group eating at the time, but it wasn't crowded. My food didn't take too long and the nice staff person brought my bag to me and wished me a nice day. When I arrived home I was excited to dig in. The Caterpillar roll looked like it may have fallen over during the drive, and the avocado on top looked fresh and bright green. Once I went to pick it up with chopsticks though, I realized it was falling apart and hard to grasp with chopsticks. After taking a bite it seems the rice may have been overcooked, it was a very mushy texture and as I continued eating it the roll turned more into a rice, avocado, unagi mixture in the takeout box. I also noticed that the unagi was not super prevalent in each bite, it was there but definitely smaller pieces. I'm not sure if the Caterpillar roll was a bad choice, if it was an off day, or something else but usually when I order simple rolls it allows the ingredients to shine through and this didn't wow me. The Gyoza was still crispy when I got home and I enjoyed the sweet vinegar sauce that came with them. The outside is a thin wrapper and the inside is a mix of meat and veggies. If I come back I'll try something different from the menu, although previous reviews raved about the sushi. This leads me to think I may have caught them on a bad day. Overall it was OK and the service and atmosphere was great, but there are a lot of local sushi spots and overcooked, mushy rice shouldn't make it out of the kitchen.

This place is absolutely fantastic--some of the best service I've ever experienced at a sushi restaurant. I've visited multiple times, and every time the staff is unbelievably friendly and welcoming. On one occasion, we were even treated to a complimentary appetizer, and every visit feels like we're being welcomed by family! They're fast, helpful, flexible, and the sushi is good. The sushi is consistently fresh and delicious. Some of our go-to rolls are the Rocklin Roll, Teriyaki Chicken Roll, and the Lish Roll. We're also big fans of the chicken udon--comforting and flavorful. I tried the chirashi once too, and it was super fresh with great flavor. If you're looking for amazing food and warm, thoughtful service, this spot is worth a visit. I also find the venue clean, and well maintained. You'll leave full and smiling!

This place caught my attention when I saw the sign leaving Ulta didn't even know it was there and come to find out. It's been open for a while decided to pop in and try it out. We lucked out and had the whole restaurant to ourselves. Service was quick. Food was good we got the kids chicken teriyaki. My husband got the Yaki noodles and I got a roll. All of it was very fresh. Automatically taking in the ambience of the restaurant, it felt really clean and has a nice dim light that makes the dining experience feel private. The service was very attentive and they'll do a temperature check on how the food is with you after you receive your meal and they were all genuinely very friendly. 10/10 for the service, no doubt. For food, we ordered their "Fukumi Ramen" and their chicken karaage . Chicken karaage came out first and was freshly fried. The coating was amazingly light and the chicken itself was flavorful. It comes served with a lemon wedge and tiny pieces of salad and the dressing in the salad was delicious! For the Fukumi Ramen bowl itself, the initial taste of the broth was flavorful and the black garlic oil was a nice touch. You'll immediately notice how thickkkk their chasu slices are and I think the free order of extra noodles is a nice plus. However, the thin noodles served with the Fukumi Ramen bowl seemed like a lighter color than I normally see at ramen places and the noodles were overcooked so I feel like it obscured the overall taste of the ramen itself since ramen noodles make up so much of the bite. Even though the extra noodles were free and a nice complimentary addition, I feel like I could tell why because the ramen noodles lacked the quality the rest of the bowl had. The tamago egg was decent and I was surprised because it looked like a plain white boiled egg rather than the traditional brown seasoned egg you get in ramen. Overall, I think Fukumi Ramen can do the job of satisfying a cold rainy day, and I think with their wide variety of ramen options, you'll definitely have to try and find one that might hit for you! Portions are huge here too so it might take a couple visits to try more options!

Whenever I'm near either location I make a point to stop by to enjoy a meal or pick up take out to enjoy at home. While a fresh bowl of ramen in the restaurant is always the best experience, their take-out options are packed well and reheat nicely. I'll often warm up ramen the day after I pick it up and it's such a nice treat to have at home. The Lincoln location has plenty of parking and once you're inside you head up to the kiosks to order for dine in or carry out. Definitely take a look through the menu, they have a variety of ramen options, including soupless ramen, rice bowls, and appetizers. They also have a variety of drinks, and I noticed on my recent visit that this Lincoln location has alcoholic options. My favorite order is their spicy tonkatsu ramen- the broth is so rich, there's a perfect amount of spice, and it hits every mark for me. Honestly, I didn't truly appreciate good ramen until I tried Umami Ramen and now this is the standard that I judge all other ramens by. We also typically order their karaage chicken and I pick up and onigiri or two (the tuna is my favorite). Everything on the menu is great though and I'd recommend trying anything that sounds yummy at the moment. There is plenty of seating and I love that the restaurant is decorated with plenty of fun posters, art, and even figurines to look at. They also have a shopping area for Japanese snacks, toys, drinks, desserts and a claw machine. A pro tip is to check out their specials- when I visited they had a $25 special for a small appetizer, ramen, and drink. It was a great deal! They also have the option to adjust your ramen by leaving off certain items or ordering extras- I usually get extra bamboo shoots for $2 (it's a generous portion of them) and their eggs are AMAZING- if you're a fan it's definitely worth ordering an extra. The staff here is also so kind, if you're having trouble deciding they're happy to help and can ring you up if your prefer ordering with them. They also always make sure I have water when I dine in and pack my to-go orders with such care. I highly recommend both of Umami Ramen's locations and hope they open a third closer to me so I can go all the time. For now, I'm happy to travel though!

It was lightly battered but crispy. Their spicy mayo sauce was a perfect balance. I don't usually like dipping sauce but this one was delicious. It wasn't too fatty and rich. The black garlic was a 3.5. I couldn't really taste the black garlic but the pork and egg was perfectly cooked. The pork melted in your mouth. My husband ordered the miso. He said it's the best miso ramen in the area. He hasn't had miso ramen like this since we moved from Los Angeles. We ordered the garlic noodles for my son. He almost finished the whole thing.
