Service is fast. You'll need to flag down the server if you want more water. Server offered me a to go box and bill without my asking. I remember thinking the Tonkotsu Ramen was satisfying and tasty many years ago. The pork impressedly had grill marks. The egg is fully cooked, though. My most recent order was $24 Beef Bibimbap. It's served in a stone pot, but none of the rice was crispy. It's a lot of rice, enough for 2 people. I like that you are provided a squeeze bottle of Bibimbap Sauce to season to taste. I heard a neighboring table order half the amount of rice, omit the egg, and ask for more meat. That is probably a better ratio of rice to toppings. heads up, I think they have a new sushi chef and I'm so disappointed. this was my go to and I loved the "Oh Yes" roll for many years and today's version was so fishy I tossed it in the trash. the albacore (or whatever offensive fish they used) was cooked and the combo of that and the fish eggs they're using was just grossly fishy. the consistency and taste of the whole roll was off and I couldn't finish it. Typically all of the fish is raw and they do a torch on the sauces, they should go back to that. They must have been short on maguro because I barely hit a sliver in my roll, perhaps because I added cream cheese but they charged me to add it so it shouldn't lessen any other ingredients. I also ordered the Inari Bomb which is 4 pieces of crab/cream-cheese stuffed tofu skins dipped/fried with tempura. for some reason they put this on top of a bed of cooked onions, zucchini, and carrots. just ruined it! it picked up the taste of onions and the soft wet veggies made the tempura batter soggy. had to toss that too as I can not stomach onions or zucchini and never would have ordered this if these ingredients were listed on the menu. so disappointing, I just can't risk going back. they need to update the menu to match the description of what you're getting. read more

We were very happy with our first visit to NOMA. NOMA is tucked away in a little, unassuming strip-mall. It's not super big and has a comfortable, causal atmosphere. Service is super friendly and quick. The food was solidly tasty. It's incredibly convenient if you live/work in the area and really the closest Japanese option by far. Definitely recommend paying them a visit and will plan to return myself! We opted for 2 different Ramens and also tried the sesame chicken Sushi. The ramens were both really tasty and portion sizes were good, not absolutely massive but large. I opted for the spicy beef and my husband for the black garlic. Both had totally distinctive flavor profiles and were equally good, just depends on which you like more. The broth was rich and hearty, the meat was decent quality, and it had plenty of noodles with a good amount of other "toppings". The spicy beef was definitely fairly spicy as advertised, but not crazy. It isn't the "best" ramen in roseville/rocklin area, but it was very good and is so much closer that it'll become a go-to for us I'm sure! I was super excited to see they offered a cooked chicken sushi as I am severely allergic to shellfish which makes most sushi a no-go due to the frequent use of crab inside. This was entirely fish-free and quite tasty! It's definitely not classic sushi, so I can't speak to their sushi at all otherwise but I love being able to enjoy a roll sometimes :) As stated, service was fast and friendly. We had no wait at all and I don't get the impression that there's a wait very often. The atmosphere is really casual for a sit down restaurant, but they do full service meaning you order at the table, they'll refill waters, etc. They also seem to do a decent to-go business. Our to-go place for Japanese/Korean food presently. Close to home, good service and good food. They have your usual bento boxes, rolls, ramen and also Korean dishes like bibimbap. Convenient location, plenty of parking, reasonable prices. Back when we first moved to the area, it was a Bambu but then that closed and we didn't come to the new establishment much. Mom loves Japanese food, which was why we chose this place... didn't matter that we just had an AYCE sushi birthday celebration the day before. Ahhh! Anyway, we ordered bento boxes. I chose a 3-Item Bento Box - beef teriyaki, salmon teriyaki, and mixed tempura. It was served with miso soup, house salad and rice. The Kewpie salad dressing was so good. Also loved the tangy, rich, and sweet flavors on the teriyaki salmon and tender beef. The lightly battered mixed tempura was not oily and crispy. The dipping sauce (Tentsuyu) added flavors. Lastly, the prices were great and very reasonable. $21.95 for a three item bento. Excellent service. We didn't order any sushi so, unfortunately, I can't comment on its taste or its freshness. As bay area foodies where you get to experience an endless array of cuisines, this doesn't come close to being good. The bento boxes we tried contained the usual suspected items. The proteins were just ok in texture and flavor. The tempura was mushy and just plain bad. And, the California rolls were thinner than a normal roll would be, plus you only get 6. My friend took me out for my birthday to this cozy corner restaurant, and it was a treat! The black garlic miso ramen was perfect for a rainy day -- hot, flavorful, and hearty. The meat was a bit on the smaller side but packed with great flavor, and the portion size was more than enough. We also tried an appetizer, something like a spicy tuna dish (I can't remember the exact name). It had excellent seasoning, and the tuna was sliced perfectly with nice, meaty pieces. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because the service was a bit slow, and I never received the soda I ordered. However the service didn't match the quality of the food. Granted the presentation was great but it truly lacked in flavor. Someone in my party ordered Ramen and stated the broth was watered down and the noodles were far from authentic, I tasted it myself even the Chasu had no flavor. The sushi was soggy, we did not like the consistency overall. Granted the food wasn't up to Par, the service was great though. Disclaimer: I grew up in the bay area and my wife's grandfather is Japanese so I've had the grace of eating some really good food. Saw the reviews on this place and thought I would give it a shot since the wait at Fukumi was an hour long on a Saturday night (which is understandable) We walked in with no wait, and after about five minutes, we were asked for our order, but were only ready to order drinks at that point. The server kept coming back every few minutes asking for our order which was sort of annoying. My wife ordered a Sushi Rohl and I went with the tan tan men Ramen. Both were subpar, not to mention that the shaved carrots and cucumber in the ramen were off-putting not to mention flavorless. (Carrots and cucumber in ramen is a first for me) Anyhow, this might be an OK spot on a weekday lunch. If you work nearby, I would definitely stick to something simple like chicken teriyaki and rice - otherwise if you're looking for dinner, or to have your be sort of a treat then I would definitely not come here - there are definitely better options in the area read more
