I highly recommend this restaurant for dinner; it's a step above and a very unusual find for a…read morerural area where other options are Waffle House, fast food, or fried this-or-that. To give you an idea, my husband and I ate there this evening and here's what we had (all excellent). Appetizers: tuna tartare with capers, wasabi, sesame seeds, lettuce, and crisps. It was well balanced and delicious. The other appetizer was Cambodian Spring Rolls, which were perfectly browned, and eaten by placing them in a romaine lettuce leaf with crumbled peanuts and dipping it in an amazing but light sauce. The textures and flavors played off of each other wonderfully, elevating it far above any regular spring roll you may be thinking of. For entrees, my husband had the special, Paella (saffron rice, mussels, shrimp, clams, and a whole crab, red bell pepper). Every item was perfectly cooked, neither undercooked nor overcooked and it tasted fantastic. My entree was perfectly cooked pan-seared salmon filet, with perfectly grilled large asparagus and the most amazing take on grits I have ever had (not your mama's breakfast grits). They were delicately flavored with butter, a hint of cheese and I don't know what else but it understated while still having flavors that seemed too complex for grits to have, without being overdone. There are menu items for both the more and less adventurous diner, and I cannot recommend this place highly enough. A gem in the middle of nowhere.

I don't give 5 stars very often, but this place was AMAZING . Who knew Whiteville had such a gem…read more The staff, the owners, the food, the ambience. All amazing. The food is from scratch all of it delicious. The ambience ... anything from bar to white linen high end to in between. Inside seating, outside seating. Let me start by saying--I'm not someone who looks to tear a business down. You can check my past…read morereviews and see that. But this was hands down the worst sushi I've ever had... and I'm not even sure it qualifies as sushi. I started with the gyoza (dumplings), and honestly--they were excellent. Easily top 3 I've ever had. That got me excited for the sushi. Then the rolls came out. They were massive, piping hot, drenched in a brown sauce, and topped with what they called "spicy crab." First bite? Complete shock. It was still hot and had this strange, almost chemical oil taste. I didn't spit it out out of respect for the people sitting nearby, but it was bad. I tried a second roll thinking maybe it was just that one--but nope, same exact taste. This time I had to grab a napkin and spit it out. At that point, I asked for a drink refill just to get the taste out of my mouth and debated saying something--but honestly, I didn't feel like dealing with the back-and-forth of explaining that the food was basically inedible. I asked for the check and left after only one bite of each roll. For reference, the rolls were the "Caroline" and the one right above it on the menu. I'd strongly recommend staying away from their sushi--period. Ended up going next door to Cracker Barrel just to salvage the night.

I guess choosing sushi in a small town was a bad choice because the cooked food and the sushi we're…read moresimply not up to standards. Location: ** Cleanliness: * Service: **** Food: ** Walking in there were four or five tables piled with dirty dishes and no body was working on clearing them. We tried Hibachi, glass noodles and sushi, none of it was well prepared, well presented or tasty. It would have been better if we avoided this spot and I am perplexed by any good reviews. I did think or server was helpful and pleasant, sadly he did not cook any of the food.
