I went there a total of three times, each time having a negative experience. The first time, I ordered a volcano roll, and I guess it really lived up to its name because I took a bite and it was so hot that it burnt my tongue, causing it to go numb for 3 days. The second time I went, I was served by a waitress who was very cold and short with me. And the third time I went, I was with my wife and mother-in-law. both of them received their food within about 20 mins (reasonable) whereas my food took, and I counted this, a whole hour to make it out. It made me think they just forgot me. One other thing that seemed off putting was the set up. It seemed like there was always a random table unoccupied in the middle of the walkway. Also, the booths were arranged lopsided so one side was pressed into the table and the other side you would have to reach to eat your food. These should be adjusted BEFORE the customer arrives. The fried rice is also tasteless. I believe that if another Japanese restaurant were to be built in this town by someone who has an ounce more of competence, this location would shut down so quickly. Will never be dining here again. read more

Pretty satisfying for a Japanese restaurant an hour away from the Twin Cities. The place was busy, so that's a good sign. One of my favorite foods is Sushi. I had been living in Seattle which has many great sushi restaurants. I was so pleasantly surprised when I found in the middle of sw Minnesota a great sushi restaurant. If you like sushi definitely head here. Maybe 3.5. Portion size and presentation are excellent, but taste was just so so. We arrived around 5:00 on a Friday evening, and it was busy. The restaurant was pretty full, but our group of 3 was able to be seated right away. We ordered veggie tempura, which was delivered hot and looked appetizing with onion, broccoli, zucchini and butternut squash. I definitely had to dip it in the soy sauce, because by itself, it was not seasoned. I ordered vegetarian soba noodles. The portion size was so large, I was not able to finish it after 3 meals (I took some home). It was loaded with perfectly cooked veggies and mushrooms. The problem was it had a strange taste like nutmeg or cinnamon and sugar. I have had Japanese noodles at many other restaurants, and I have never tasted anything like these. The service was OK. They were very friendly, but there were a few lapses. The appetizer was not served with plates for us to share, so we had to ask for that. We also had to ask for chopsticks. Went to their website to see the menu that says they are open until 3pm. Showed up and it says to go only on the sign. Should have checked yelp first... they would not take an order so close to their apparent close time of 2pm today. I have only eaten here once before and the food is pretty good, but the hours seem to be hit and miss and there have been times I've wondered if they are still open. Consistency is key, and it's hard to serve customers if you aren't open ... it's also hard to want to go if the few times I've tried to come here they aren't open as posted. read more

We were in town antiquing last saturday and tried this restaurant!!! The food was delicious and everyone was super friendly!!!! We got our meal as take out and were surprised by the large portions!!!! We ordered way too much for one meal which was great as then we had the rest for our supper that night!!! You can have the greatest food ever, but the service is the worst in the entire town of Hutchinson. A host, and 3 servers for 1 table you'd think the service time and food would all come out together. Sadly no. 1 server for 1 table is better than 2 different ones who ask the same questions, and take our order 2 different times, and then a 3rd comes and asks how many soups and salads we need, bc the other servers didn't know. Mind you we sat at our table for 18 minutes without getting a drink order, as new tables were seated and being waited on first. And they forgot our sushi order completely. How is that even possible with 2 servers?? Your sushi's not great, you over do it with sauces, your tempura batter is doughy, and your sashimi is less than desirable. So if you want half ass, over sauced, sushi and a 3 hour meal this place is right up your alley read more

This place might not look like much, being situated on a frontage road inside a former fast food building, but it is a winner for excellent sushi, hibachi, and overall value. I was very apprehensive about eating sushi in a "meat and potatos" town like Hutchinson, but I was very surprised to say the least. They did it right here and I would put this place on par with any sushi place in the twin cities. They have a great lunch special and I left the place with three rolls in my belly for under $20. I though everything had great flavor and the service was excellent. You can tell they don't get too many people who eat sushi on the regular because the waitress tried to explain to me what was in each roll. She obviously doesn't follow my yelp page because she would have known I love sushi! This place is great and I really hope they can make it go here. read more

Our friends brought us here because they had eaten here and knew they had excellent fish and seafood, especially. Pat raved about the scallops so much that my husband, who has hated scallops most of his life, gave them a try. He was impressed with how tasty and tender they were. We all had the hibachi combination plates and everything was superb. Soup and saddled were included as the first course. They were quite tasty we all agreed. I really liked the stir fried vegetable medley of zucchini, broccoli, onion and mushrooms. The other side was fried rice. They were very accommodating of our special requests. I asked for soba noodles in place of the fried rice and, for a very reasonable upsurge of $1.50, they were happy to. Those noodles were tender and flavorful. Our waiter was friendly, efficient and patient. All the staff we saw on our way thanked us with big smiles. I definitely want to cone back here. I just wish it was closer to the Cities. read more
