We researched restaurants in the area, but most were closed or had limited hours on a Sunday. Umami was the only restaurant with good reviews that was open at the time. The food was ok. It was definitely better than Hana Japanese Sushi Bar & Grill in Natchitoches, but not as good as Geisha Sushi Bistro in New Orleans. They need to change the menu items and advertise them correctly. The sushi was very sub-par to the point that I only ate half of the order. The ingredients in the sushi were not proportioned correctly. Also they were no sushi dishes to pour your soy sauce into so you may dip your sushi. I had to ask them to give me a small bowl. They use pink ginger rather than white ginger, obviously trying to save on costs. I hear from others that the fried rice and pepper steak are good items. My recommendation is to try those generic items and stay away from the sushi. Although this is mostly self-serve when the staff brings the food to you they should also grab utensils (forks, knives, spoons, chopsticks, soy sauce, etc.). This added touch to customer service would enhance the experience as well as put a few dollars in their pockets when they get tipped. Unfortunately i will not be a repeat customer.

My only complaint was that it was pretty pricy. My total was $30 for those three items ($11 for sushi, $9 for sesame chicken and they gave me a lot, and $5 for 8 rangoons). If you're willing to spend some money definitely come here for some yummy food!
