This location used to be a Free Play Arcade but has now been converted to a Japanese arcade theme destination. As you walk in, you'll notice claw and Gachapon machines tempting you to play and win something. There's Japanese pop music piping through the speakers, and a dedicated room full of imported Japanese arcade games add more sounds. There's also a dedicated bar and dining area. It was relatively empty at 12:30 PM on a Friday. But it's also simply INCREDIBLE if you're into Japanese culture. You're not in DFW anymore. 2 Star. Service - There's a friendly bartender, if you want to order drinks (I did not). Otherwise, you place your order at a kiosk, grab a numbered puck, and then grab a seat. When your puck starts making a sound, your food will be ready at the windows. Heads up, if you leave you table unattended the staff with clean up so others can sit. They're very efficient. 1 Star. Food - Let me first say, if you're looking for the Free Play Arcade experience, you will be disappointed. If you're looking to be transported to a Japanese arcade (me) this place is awesome. The kiosks are very straight forward; you can order packaged ramen to ramen made in house. I went with the Street Tonkatsu. The broth was mild (not overly salty), and the pork belly was very tender. I also ordered the Tokyo Station Tacos. The JBBQ pulled pork was surprisingly tasty, but I couldn't help but long for a Chinese Bao instead of a tortilla. But what impressed me the most was the booth we sat in. It was connected to a monitor, and we could access a bunch of SNES games. 1 Stars. Will I Return? - Yes! Tokyo Station is my kind of jam. The only thing that gave me concern is that it wasn't very busy on a Friday. I hope this concept stays, because it's the closest thing to a Japanese arcade besides flying to Japan. 1 Star. read more

This was my first time here and I am not really a huge fan. This arcade features Japanese arcade games and that's just not my thing. There were a few games that were the American version but only a few...Galaga and Pacman were the ones that I noticed. They did have a decent selection of pinball machines...however they are NOT included in the free play. I was a little surprised but also disappointed that pinball was extra... The cost for the "free play" is a little pricey compared to Cidercade...if we are comparing size and what's included. I also think that it helps to have an interest in japanese video games, which I do not. This is a really small arcade which did make it hard to move around and there were lines for the popular games, unfortunately, the overall experience was not really that exciting. The service at the bar was the great, the bartenders were friendly and knowledgeable. There is a separate area for the free play and the kids working the counter were mostly on their phones unless someone walked up to them. read more

Hidden inside a Japanese claw machine arcade connected to a play-all-day rhythm game arcade formally free play, it's convenient if you want to play games and have a good meal aswell! Came back here today after hearing about the Tokyo Station rebranding, it was pretty disappointing. Not a lot of games on the free with admission side, the new Japanese games are boring touch games. The other side was mostly claw machines where you pay per play, even pinball are now pay to play. The claw machines' prizes look cheap little items. The old Free Play was better, this Tokyo Station is just not good considering you're still paying entry fee, we only stayed 1.5 hour and left. read more

Brought our 9 yr granddaughter here for the day and we all had an absolute blast. So much so that my arms were so sore the next day from basketball, skeeball, driving games and pinball that I could barely lift me arms. Please change it back to the way it was.It's been awhile since I've been here and came to check out the new changes and new look.Well I have to tell you I was not impressed.When you come in the front door you see nothing but crane machines and some other small machines which you have to pay for.Also what pinball machines they have left are up front and you have to pay for them.I finally head to the back where the free games are.At least what is left of them.There are hardly any old school games left.Maybe a hand full or so.The rest are driving games and sit down games with a small little stool which was very uncomfortable especially for a big guy like me.I was just very disappointed.This used to be my place.Now it's just got a whole different vibe.I guess they are trying to get the younger kids into this place.I would be surprised if I go back to this place especially if they keep it like this.There are too many options out there now.In fact they just opened one down the street about 6 months ago.I'll be heading their direction.Well good luck on your new Japanese theme. read more

We reserved this place for our office/department outing and my entire team had a blast. The food was delicious, the games were very fun, and we even had chances to win prizes to take home afterwards. When it's not too crowded, it's so so fun here. A ton of games -- retro to modern -- and drinks! They have a limited menu as well with hot pressed sandwiches, flatbread pizza, street tacos, vegetable crudite and dip, and a little cheese plate. They don't have a full kitchen so it's just a few items. As far as games go, there's a million pinball machines, lots of retro arcade games, ski ball, basketball toss, dance dance revolution, classic pac man, and a zillion others. Horrible now. Left after 35 min. Retro games are mostly gone - replaced with newer Japanese style games. Yeah, you can play Ms. pac Man, Space Invaders, Galaga, and Mario/Donkey Kong games, but if you are looking for other old school games, you are outta luck. The very few pinball games all cost extra! There are many claw prize games taking up 50% of the space, and all require extra money. The bar serves mostly Japanese beers and sake. Gone is the selection of plentiful craft brews. Believe me, not worth your time or money if you are looking for the old style retro gaming experience that Free Play Arlington used to be. For who this may concern. Free play use to be an amazing fun, cheap and family friendly place to go to. I just left there after learning they re did the entire location. It is now 'Toyko station'. They kept a small section of what I was told "Japanese games" free to play with entrance fee of course, 95 percent joystick games. Then the main floor with the bar they switched over to game cards. What was once a fun place is now and expensive money grab. Why must good things end. read more

My wife and I found this place back in 2021 when we were in Dallas on a work trip. This place was amazing. Every time we come to Dallas, we stay in Arlington, TX just so we can visit this place. In February 2025, we were here and it was the same as it always has been. Awesome! Then, we come to Arlington June 7-9 and head over there Saturday night. This place absolutely sucks ass. It is now called Tokyo Station. Everything is Japanese now. There are some stupid claw style machines there that they are charging for and they have eliminated a lot of their free play games. The game room that is included in the price is terrible now. They are even charging to play pinball??? I paid $25 for both of us to get a wristband to play. We got some bullshit drinks then left after about an hour. Why change something that was freaking awesome to make it terrible now? I have spent my last dime at Free Play in Arlington, TX. We are going to try the one in Dallas that still says, according to the website, there are 160+ games set to free play. If it is terrible, I will find something else to spend my money on while in Dallas. The owner should be ashamed of himself for changing the place around and making it terrible now. Oh, and no one wants Ramen from an arcade. Bring back the pizza, wings, chicken, etc. Bring back the free play games. They don't even have spiced rum any longer. What the hell was this guy thinking? No one wants to go to an arcade, pay to get in, then spend more money to play some stupid ass claw machines and prize machines. Terrible idea and, all I can say is that, I hope you don't go out of business because of this. One more thing, the atmosphere is also very horrid. Nothing balances any longer. I love free play! It is super cheap and over all a fun time. This place is great for a date night or you can even bring your kids during the day time. They have a good bar with fun themed drinks and even some awesome bar snacks. The staff is very nice and everything is priced well. Parking is easy and spacious. 3-2022 Pinball is why we came to this location. This is the 3rd FP location we visited and it definitely has the most pinball machines. The space is larger than Richardson and FW. However the parking lot is small so expect very limited parking, with some side street parking. Large main area as you enter, with TV's, plenty of games, skee ball, a full bar and food service. Another large separate area with outside access to side tables. I noticed a life size connect four. There are garage type doors on either side that I imagine would roll up during great weather. Great music playing, fun atmosphere all around. The day we went it was crowded and several of the games were not in service. Signs on the machines indicating not in service. The most disappointing being the Addams family pinball. We were looking forward to that one. Tried to play a car racing game and the screen was dark during game play. There is a box on the corner of the bar where you can report issues with the games. The Munsters pinball was my favorite today, it has two sets of flipper buttons. There is a mini pinball game inside the body of the machine that you can get to in a bonus round, it's unexpected and fun. Several other pinball machines in working order. Aerosmith, The Walking Dead, Star Wars, Rocky & Bullwinkle, The Guardians of the Galaxy a few older ones that were great to try out. We will check to make sure the Addams family is working before coming back. read more

Free Play was such a great experience for me! So nice to explore Downtown Arlington - I was surprised at how it was only $12 for entry and free vintage/retro games! It was nice being able to play some old games here and there and it was overall a great time. We visited on a Thursday which happened to also be a special day where they offer 40% off beers - I spent $11 total for 3 beers.. pre tax. I was amazed at how great the prices were and it's definitely somwhere I'd like to visit again. A great place to hang out with friends and wind down after a long week! Cool place for old school games and arcade. It's definitely a good place to go with friends. Sone games have some malfunctions, but nothing out of the ordinary for an arcade. Pretty creative drinks that are reasonably priced and pretty good. Food, however, is definitely a waste of money. We paid $11 for a "personal pizza." Turns out it's smaller than most kids' pizzas - maybe 6 inches and very thin. Other food I saw was similar - overpriced and small portions. Drinks and food are pretty expensive. We went after 9, when they kicked the kids out. The drinks were not very strong (based on the price) and the food wasn't that great, super greasy and nothing special. It doesn't seem like they keep track of how much they serve their customers either (we found a guy passed out on a bench outside and there was a group who were obnoxiously loud at one point) Aside from that, they have a wide array of video games from every era and style! Super fun to play and pass time. It was nice getting to discover some new games, as well as reminisce in some old childhood memories. I would come back. The bartender was super sweet when me and some friends went in for my birthday on Monday. We ordered drinks and stayed for 3 and a half hours. When we cashed out our tab she filled our punch card because it was my birthday so next time we can get one free entry :) The dude at the front also reset dance dance revolution for us right before close so we could do two player dance battle! read more

This might just be my favorite video game based place. I wish I could kinda just pack it up and bring it back to Atlanta with me. Free Play is an arcade. You pay ~$10 to get in, and that's it - you're free to play anything you want for as long as you want. And the selection is wiiiide. I went with friends and was able to get my butt kicked in Street Fighter, Rampage, Hunting Challenge, NFL Blitz, and MORE! This is really just a nice place to hang out with some friends and have a good time. The music is solid, the food is good (try a flatbread pizza), and the beer selection is good in my books. Everyone is friendly, there's no kids after 9, and really - I could just go on and on, but this is really just a place you want to be if you play games. read more

I would give 5 stars but when we got here we wanted to order my special drink they had no southern comfort. Then about to order food and we were told no chicken, no pork and no avocados. So neither of us. Oils order what we wanted. I asked for cherries to go in my drink and they didn't have those either. All above was disappointing since it was a sat. several games not functioning and it was very cold in there. Otherwise the food was great, drinks were good and EllaMae was a fantastic bartender. I love this place! I mean it's an awesome mix of new and old school arcade games that are all on free play. You pay a flat fee to get in and you have access to all their games the whole day. You can come in and out of the establishment as needed. The staff is friendly and helpful.
