I was introduced to sushi in Okinawa Japan in the early 80's when I was in the service. I fell in love with it. When I came back to the states nobody knew what sushi was. I've since had sushi and other fresh Japanese dishes numerous times here in America as we've caught on. None, however, measured up to Okinawa sushi. Until now. My girlfriend and I went out for an early Valentine's Day dinner this evening. We like to celebrate a few days early and beat the crowds. We called and made reservations. Tokyo Sushi here in Simi Valley California. We thought we'd try a new sushi place. They warmly greeted us, took us to our table that had a little "reserved" card on it, and we proceeded to enjoy the best sushi I've had in over 40 years! It was simply scrumptious! Delightful service! OMG delicious food! A wonderful well attended to evening! I'm not kidding here at all. Garlic edamame. Baked Filet Mignon " Cowboy Roll " ( Okinawa couldn't even beat this one! ). A fresh gourmet Poke Bowl like you've never had before. And some kinda sushi roll ( gf ordered ) that just melted in your mouth good! Big portions too! Half again as big as other sushi places. I looked around and it was a clean beautiful family atmosphere with all kinds of folks enjoying food and talking. There was even a couple that ordered a flaming sushi thing! WTF! I'm getting that next time! Plenty of Sake, Japanese beers, and non alcoholic drinks too! Great choice list! Yes. We're coming back. The nice clean new picturesque menus had more sushi-eye-candy on it than I have ever seen. This is one for the record books. Possibly the best sushi in Simi Valley and perhaps California. I'm old. For everything you hold dear, absolutely do not pay with card! I thought it was just me or a fluke or something. But I got charged an extra $25 dollars on my transaction here. I was literally just looking for a sushi spot because I was visiting. This is appalling after finding out they I'm not the only ONE, they have done this to. I was greeted when I walked in. The place looked clean, decent ambiance. I sat at the bar and then was ignored for ten minutes. I was really bummed because I was really craving sushi. Even the sushi chef was looking for servers to come. At one point all the servers were standing around talking. There weren't that many people there which made it quite displeasing. I asked for a window seat and was abruptly met with resistance and eventually got that window seat at a heavy cost, the staff punished us by forgetting our order & ignoring us for 1-1/2 hours. Great Sushi!!! This is our new sushi go to in Simi. From the moment we walked in to the moment we walked out the service was very good. The server was so polite and friendly, the chef and his crew were friendly and you can tell they take their sushi making craft serious. The ambiance was very nice, the restaurant feels roomy not like other sushi spots that seem tiny, the space is very inviting and it is a very family friendly atmosphere. Now on to the food, the menu is wonderful as it has pictures and a variety of options! That is always a plus for me. The rolls were DELICIOUS and the shrimp/fish tasted very fresh, the rice was perfect and I did not even need soy sauce because the rolls were so tasty. We had a monkey ball for our appetizer and it was yummy, we also had a shrimp crunch roll and a Baja roll... both rolls were perfect in taste, freshness, texture, size, all of it. For dessert we had yummy mochi and a green tea cheesecake with ice cream. They also have a great selection of beer, sake, and some soju. Overall, I am definitely coming back with more people and a bigger appetite because I can't wait to try the rest of the menu and the flavored soju. I hope our Simi neighbors make their way to Tokyo Sushi because this is definitely a great neighborhood sushi spot. read more

However this place is amazing in quality and service. I'm not one to do reviews and most of the time I forget, but one place I'll never forget is this place. My husband and I had been looking for a good sushi place to eat on Sunday September 8 2024 without success. We thought we'd give this place a try as a last resort and boy was I very happy with the overall service and quality of sushi. Other places we had been to were not as good We sat at the chef bar. Chef was amazing and the waitress had the best customer service. I wish I could remember her name ugh! Shout out to who ever this young lady was that attend us. We were there around 6pm. So, if this is you thank you so much for being so attentive to serving and going the extra mile. I asked for the owner and made sure to let him know about the great service his employees provided us. And thanked him for the quality of sushi. We loved it so much we are coming back again tonight. Crossing my fingers that the service is as amazing as the first time we were there. I'll keep you posted. I highly recommend this place and rate is a 5 star. read more

Went here last night and I'm pretty bummed. We used to go here all the time and last night was just not it. We ordered four rolls and ended up only getting two of the four rolls. When we asked the waiter about it, he said he didn't hear us order the other two, even though he repeated my order back to me. The calamari was pretty much uneditable. And to tie it all together, I got food poisoning and was up until 3 AM throwing up. read more

Placed a to go order, online, mid week at 6pm got the confirmation email that said it would be ready at 640pm. Got there at about 645pm and they said they needed 5 more minutes no big deal. Walked out to my truck for 5-10 minutes it's now 650pm. And they said they're going to need a decent amount more time. They didn't seem to busy maybe 1/3 full, two sushi chefs behind the counter and a few guys in the back. I really like this place it's always good, fresh and everyone is very very nice but by the time my food was ready an hour and fifteen minutes had passed since I placed my order! They said it was because they were busy but I sat there for 35 minutes after my order was supposed to be ready and it was not that busy. I understand things happen but come on that's a little ridiculous. I've ordered on Friday and Saturday nights and didn't wait that long. read more
