We enjoyed our meal here! The fish was super fresh and that's the highlight here. Unfortunately, one of our rolls had an overripe avocado which made the roll taste off. We also got our appetizer-type sushi after our main rolls, but the staff was VERY kind and actually gave us a discount and was apologetic about this. Very sweet! I think this is a solid sushi place if you live in this neighborhood, but we wouldn't travel from Moorpark for it. We stumbled upon Izakaya on Yelp and decided to give it a try. Make sure to call in advance and make a reservation. We called on a Saturday mid day to come for dinner at 7 PM. It's not a situation where you gotta call a week in advance, but maybe at least a few hours before hand. I think it makes everything so streamlined and easy that way. We showed up and were seated right away. Same person who is the host is also serving the tables. I felt like they were short staffed, but it is a really small restaurant, so maybe this is just how they run things. I noticed she was constantly running from table to table. Honestly felt kinda bad lol. She still served us perfectly and didn't forget anything. And we ordered a lot! My faves were the Hamachi Yellowtail and their salmon sashimi. The quality of fish is really good for the price. I would recommend this spot if you're in the area and want somewhat affordable high-quality sushi. read more

The owner, Kelly was very welcoming, friendly and extremely accommodating. I got the bento box with spicy chicken, shrimp & vegetable tempura with California rolls. Everything was made with quality ingredients and with lots of savory flavor. I enjoyed my meal. The menu has a nice variety of sushi and other items to choose from. I had the hot night roll it had a good little kick of spice to it the sprinkle of sesame seeds paired everything together. Izakaya k is truly amazing and, by far, the best sushi in Simi valley. From the moment you walk in the doors you're treated like you've been dining there for years. The care that Kelly and Joon put into each diners experience is unmatched. Now let's get to the food- wow. It's easy to see that each fish is hand selected for top quality. I always start with sashimi; either an assorted selection or just salmon. The cuts are perfect and the size of each piece is incredible. Next, we usually share the white fish carpaccio (I could eat this every day!!). Then we dive into the rolls. Some of my favorites are the April roll, rock n roll, super dragon roll, and the monster roll. The robust flavors joon is able to achieve in all of their rolls is amazing. I've lived in Simi for almost 5 years and this is hands down the best sushi spot! My husband and I are big on our sushi and have our favorites in different cities but this is hands down one of our top 5 overall. I can't recommend it enough! My favorites are the lemon roll, ninja, Ventura, and veggie roll. Because we live so close we always order to go but having eaten inside as well it's a cute small cozy place. The staff is amazing! We have taken a few different groups of friends and they all loved it! It's a small place and you need reservations. Kelly the owner tries her best to accommodate. I like sashimi, but I don't eat rolls and rarely eat nigiri sushi. The deluxe sashimi platter at Izakaya was incredible. The fish was top notch; on par with the best restaurants in J-Town and Gardena. It appears that this place is run entirely by a hard-working couple, and they both work very hard to give the best quality food and service. Overall, we love the friendly service and wonderful value from this restaurant. Located in a strip mall in Simi Valley, there is ample parking in front of the restaurant. The restaurant is medium size and does quite a lot of take-out orders. The menu is diverse, and the service was prompt. For starters, we ordered shrimp tempura and agadeshi tofu. The tofu appetizer was very generous. We also ordered sushi combo, sashimi and a few rolls. Overall, the entrees were a good value for the price, but we had better sushi elsewhere.
