He gave us great food recommendations and made sure we had everything we needed. Came and put our names down. Wait was projected to be around 20-30 min. Instead, we waited for about an hour, as we watched every party, including other parties of two that came in after us and freshly putting their names down, get seated. This was until we were the last party in the lobby. We instead get a text that we were removed from the waitlist. And only after trying to understand why, that's when we were seated. All of this to say that our seating and waiting flub was properly made up by the incredible service from our waiter Kent. He was such a kind and attentive server, checking in on us every so often to make sure we were okay, resetting our iPad, and was a blessing to have. I have wanted to check this spot out for awhile. Brought a customer for a business lunch. This is a AYCE Japanese barbecue specializing in Wagyu beef. They are located on the first floor of the Topanga Mall on the parking garage side. When you arrive, you add your name to the wait list. We waited for only about 10 minutes and our name was called. As you walk in, you are greeted in the front where they explain the options available. Basically it is 3 all you can eat options. Silver $58 per person, $49.99 if you are a member. Gold $78 per person, $65 if you a member and Diamond $88 per Person, $75 if you are a member. This gives you various levels of meat and wagyu choices based on tiers, as well as the sushi, salads, deserts, etc. with a 90 minute time limit. You can also get a lunch deal for $29.99, which includes basically a salad bar with some hot options, but not meat other than wagyu sliders, but not a bad deal if you prefer to spend less. We went for the Diamond level, had to get the most wagyu options. I also ended up getting a membership, which costs $58. This gave us $99 off our bill and a free A5 Wagyu steak. If you are going gold or diamond, it is worth getting as you get a nice discount off both, at the silver level it is a wash. Getting the membership is welll worth it IMO. Tyler our server was very cool, super helpful, made sure the meat kept coming and helped us with the tablet that kept getting stuck. He made the experience great, 5 stars. Make sure you keep ordering every 7 minutes or so to maximize what you can get, 90 minutes goes pretty fast actually. One thing to keep in mind, you can't take anything home with you and if you order too much and don't eat it, there is a 20% charge for the wasted food. Pace yourself. Inside looks like you stepped into a Japanese food market and sushi spots. The tables have a build in hibachi type grills to grill all the delicious meat. There are so many choice and everything was amazing, Wagyu was so tender, full of flavor and very rich from all the marbling. There are leaner cuts, but you can get a big mix and try everything. We ate and ate and ate, we enter briefly into a meat sweat and then nearly needed to be wheeled out, ha ha. It was a great experience and ever so tasty. Recommended you check it out, at least once, if not more! One thing I do wish is if they identified the various meats coming to you so you know which you like best and can reorder it. The discomfort of overeating is completely worth it. Anthony did a great job helping our party of 5 and we never had to wait long. I had a bunch of questions and he was very gracious and explaining all the different menu items to us. All of the meat that we got was very flavorful and he even helped grill the meat for us. For the restaurant in general, it's a really cool vibe and there's plenty of sides that you can grab any time, including seasoned veggies that you can add to the grill. Went in for our wedding anniversary dinner! Just wanted to highlight their amazing customer service. ( as a same sex couple we don't know what to expect interms of how "LGBTQ friendly" an establishment will be). With our experience we were delighted as first timers! The host Jennifer greeted us happily and wished us a Happy Wedding Anniversary! We felt welcomed and she took the time to answer and break down how CC's dining tiers worked. As for our Server Ferni did an amazing job cooking our specialty meats and making sure we had everything we needed. The high energy personality and accommodation made the experience even better. The dining is timed and you can order up to 10 items every 7 min but we never felt rushed and there's plenty of time to eat and enjoy. As for the food WOW we went with the gold tier for our family of 3. It's worth it. No frozen meat and all the self serve options are great! High quality meats, sushi and sides. Our faves included the wagyu steak, top blade, and our son loved the wagyu sliders! They offer specials for a membership and Ferni explained all the perks! Stopped here tonight with the family. It was my first time here and I must say this place was amazing. My compadre was the one who showed me this place and we decided to finally try it tonight. The food: 1000/1000 we went with the gold option and it was amazing. So many wonderful cuts of Waygu beef and the recommendations from our server were great: we also had the sides and I must say the Waygu burger was so good, I can see why it would run out really fast. The deserts were so good and lots of amazing options. I enjoyed the unlimited beverages as well. Service: top notch service, our server was Tyler and he went above and beyond for our party. Earlier we called to get information before arriving and they can't even have a staff member answer the call, an AI bot was struggling to assist and answer our questions. Everything is ordered on a tablet. The amount of self service at this restaurant is nauseating, considering the price to dine in. You can order every 7 minutes until time is up. Ambiance is active and the upbeat music playlist is about at a medium volume. The experience is streamlined to get you in and out, I was not a fan of the constant badgering to join their membership, especially at checkout. There is an egregious amount of self service that could be handled by staff, for the price range, having everyone run around each other to grab drinks and grab items from the cold bar and other self service areas is strange. I got the gold tier, it was a nice option to try the "tasting experience" as it was our first time, but honestly could have done without it. This place is more on the pricier side, but for the silver tier, it's a solid opt. This is a type of restaurant where you order through the tablet and the food comes to your table, the server does come around often to check in on you and to change the grills. As a huge fan of Chubby Cattle, I am incredibly disappointed to say that this specific location has been a miss ever since it opened. I've given it three chances now, and each visit has been a poor experience. After my most recent visit, I felt compelled to finally write a review. We ordered the highest tier (Diamond), expecting a premium experience, but our server, Kai, was completely rude and unprofessional. Throughout the night, he barely checked on us or cleared our plates. Instead, he repeatedly approached our table just to scold us about having only 30 minutes left. When last call approached, we placed a larger order to wrap up our meal. Kai came over and lectured us about the size of the order, warning us that we would have to pay for leftovers even though we ended up finishing absolutely everything. When we tried to put in one final item before the system even shut down, he arbitrarily told us he was canceling it because we "couldn't order anymore." It is incredibly frustrating to be paying customers spending over $600, only to be spoken to so disrespectfully about ordering food during valid service hours. To top it off, after dropping off the check and taking our payment, we went to get dessert. Kai approached us yet again and told us we needed to leave, essentially kicking us out of the restaurant. We've been here a total of two times and each time has been amazing! We had Nick and Kai serving us and they've been amazing. Always checking in on us, making sure we get the best service, and just vibed with them. They're so easy to chat up. It's more expensive than your AYCE experience but it's really worth it especially for special occasions. I had a very disappointing experience at this all-you-can-eat Japanese BBQ restaurant. Before we were seated, we politely asked the front desk if our party could be split into two tables. Despite the restaurant having the availability, they refused and insisted on seating all of us at one table. The hostess also had a very rude attitude from the moment we arrived, which immediately made us feel unwelcome. As the meal went on, many of the food items were running out. We asked multiple times for refills, but they were never replenished, which is unacceptable for an all-you-can-eat restaurant. To make matters worse, when the bill came, they automatically added gratuity for our large party. We asked to speak with the manager because of the poor service throughout the evening, hoping they would at least acknowledge our concerns. Instead, the manager was just as dismissive and rude as the front desk staff and made no effort to resolve the situation or make things right. Overall, the customer service was terrible from start to finish, the food service did not live up to the "all-you-can-eat" experience, and management showed no interest in customer satisfaction. Delicious food and stellar service! Absolutely worth the wait and the price. This was my first time dining at Chubby Cattle, and I couldn't be more pleased with the experience. There's a variety of meat to choose from, from rich and savory wagyu to thinner briskets. All meat is very high quality cuts, taste amazing even without sauce. The sushi was just OK to me. Some of the rice was undercooked and so randomly crunchy in some parts, and the taste of the fish was just acceptable. The hand rolls were pretty good, though. Love the assortment of sides and appetizers to choose from, and the self service drinks, salads, desserts, and sides. There's even dim sum! And the slushies are so good. I actually didn't like the milk tea much, too creamy and sweet for me, but YMMV. There's just so much to eat and drink here, and the portions are just right. Loved the ambiance and the service. The only drawback was the wait time (quite long on a weekend for lunch) and the fact that it got super smoky in the area we sat. Even the restrooms were noticeably smoky. However, our table and others in the area were moved to a section with significantly better ventilation. It seems like ventilation could be a recurring issue here, but they also seem to be aware of it and can shift your table somewhere better if it gets too smoky. The bad - the dining experience, while fun, was not relaxing at all. There is a timer that counts down like a game show, ticking time bomb. When the timer finishes, you order your limited number of dishes and the timer stars again. The rest of the wagyu cuts were good, but the thin cuts were harder to cook as they easily stick to the grill.
