The office staff lied about filing a pre-authorization with my insurance provider and provided an "estimate" of patient responsibility that was +50% higher than what was actually covered by my insurance. 4 business days after my child's treatment we provided the EOB (explanation of benefits) to the office staff and they refused to even look at it and insinuated that the EOB was made up rather than a genuine document from the insurance provider. Based upon the EOB, we requested an immediate refund of the grossly inaccurate overcharge the office staff demanded on the day of treatment, but the office staff said they would not provide a refund until they were paid in full by the insurance company. When we asked to speak with the dentist, we were told that he was not available. The dentist and this office staff are not customer focused, do not have integrity, and should be avoided by the community. There are plenty of pediatric dentist in the area, and we would highly recommend that you do not use Lantzy Children's Dentistry.

Check in has always been pleasant and easy for me. There is one woman who has been there for hers and even remembers the first time I came to the dentists office even all these years later. To be honest, it is somewhat memorable. My daughter slipped and bashed her teeth against the side of the tub and broke the top four front teeth in her mouth. At the time I was completely freaked out. They were completely understanding with me and got her in right away and they put her in a private room to pull her teeth and made it fast and as painless as possible. Dr. Ta told me it was because she was still nursing and it was from milk rot on the teeth-- it weakened them. But the way he talked to me and set both my daughter and I at ease-- after that I took all my kids in to see him. My eldest son has mouth crowding. He recommended we work with an orthodontist to determine the course of action to get the teeth to come in the best way possible and make a dental plan. He helped refer me to a good one in my area and both offices worked so well together it was really seamless (for years). In all these years I have never had an issue with billing and they always make sure I understand the charges and why I have them before they charge me or do anything. The office is really big on preventative care and my kid's teeth are so much better after we started coming. They do floride and sealants for the kids (but you can opt out if you want). They also have a very nice panoramic X-ray machine that gets every detail if your kids don't like the bite X-rays or they need more details for the mouth. They also have semi-private and private rooms for kids with sensory needs. The experience for the kids is also awesome. When they come in they can play games or watch tv. Then when they go back they are weighed and they check their height. Once they go to the exam table they are given headphones to watch tv above them (and this also blocks out the sounds of the dental tools which is great). Once the exam is done they are given a bag with toothpaste and a toothbrush, and some floss. They get a token to pick a toy from a machine you can insert the coin into and turn. My kids love this part. Sometimes they get an animal balloon or a sword balloon. They leave happy. The staff has always been very kind and respectful to me as well. No matter where your kids get seen, you the parent can see them. If they are in the main area you can stay with them if you ask or you can watch them through a window (it's one-way so the kids don't see you and start fussing for you). If it's a private room where they are doing a procedure they give you an iPad and you can watch them on the iPad. It's really awesome. I really trust Dr. Ta and his staff. I tell everyone I know and I wouldn't go to anyone else. I highly recommend you go and see for yourself.

During that time, we have had a very positive experience. Dr. Duffy is excellent, and much of the office staff has always been friendly, professional, and welcoming. However, over the past several months, we have experienced repeated and frustrating issues with billing and insurance verification. Our insurance clearly covers dental sealants for children up to age 14. My children are 12 years old, yet on three separate occasions we were told at the time of the appointment that we would need to pay approximately $160 out of pocket for a service that should have been fully covered. Each time, we declined treatment and rescheduled after being reassured that the issue would be corrected. Unfortunately, no note was added to our account, and the same billing problem occurred at every appointment. This resulted in multiple unnecessary trips, missed school for my children, and time away from work for my husband or myself. After the third occurrence, my husband understandably expressed his frustration. When I later contacted the office manager, Theresa, to discuss the matter, she repeatedly interrupted me and would not allow me to explain the situation. More concerning, she accused my husband of yelling at a new employee and "throwing things around the office." This accusation is completely false. My husband was frustrated, as any customer would be after repeated scheduling errors and wasted time, but he did not behave in the manner described. Making such serious and unfounded accusations is unacceptable. I do sympathize with any new employee who may have felt overwhelmed, but the responsibility lies with management to properly verify insurance coverage and document account notes to prevent the same issue from happening repeatedly. It is extremely disappointing because we genuinely liked Dr. Duffy and several members of the staff. The office is clean, well-maintained, and Dr. Duffy provides excellent care. However, due to the repeated billing issues, poor communication, and false accusations made against my husband, we will be taking our business elsewhere. After more than five years as loyal patients, this is not how we expected to be treated. I cannot recommend Duffy Dental based on our recent experience. When there is a need to reschedule, it will 4-6 wks out. Additionally you can't be more than 15mins late NOT even a minute over. This difficultly in setting appt increases the treatment timeline. Be prepare to make ortho plan at this place a PRIORITY over school/life. I wish I knew about this issue before signing for the multi-year plan. Now I just feel stuck.
