After weeks of back & forth (I kept saying we do not need $600k personal item coverage), one of their agents gave us the wrong coverage on a rental we own in Oceanside. Their mistake cost us an extra $3.5k annually. We finally changed HOInsurance, and then they finally noticed the error and wanted our business. Too bad they were great for 20+ years...

When that person never returned our call, I asked to speak to a different agent at Alta Vista Insurance Agency. Dawn Grant was exceptionally helpful. She clearly explained some complex insurance concepts, including the history behind them. She also confirmed that our limits appeared to be below industry standard and suggested some that our carrier was likely to approve. She then requested a revised quote from our carrier, including the option of increasing our deductible to help offset the increased cost. The carrier approved the request. And, to our surprise, increasing the deductible more than offset the cost to increase our coverage limits, and our total annual premium dropped nearly $100 a year. Since we'd already paid our premium for the year, the carrier automatically refunded the difference to our credit card. This whole process took less than two weeks, and most of the process was handled online. I highly recommend Dawn and hope to have her help us if we have other issues.

After (and still) having Steve handle my companies health insurance for the last few years I'm ready to write a review. As with most people dealing with an insurance company it's a big pain in the rare and our experiences are no exception. After about a year of Steve asking me to allow him to take care of issues that come up with the insurance company and that I should trust him to take care of it. Again after a year of going in circles with Blue Shield I was so discouraged I said OK YOU HANDLE IT! He did, he has and he still is. I'm sleeping better and now when I can't get Blue Shield to process my prescription medications correctly I just send Steve an email and he takes care of it. The best thing about it doesn't cost me or my company anything for him to resolve these issues for us. I'm so impressed with him I've recommended him to others and they all have high praise for him. By the way I can be a big pain in the, well you know where and Bruce handles everything with cool professionalism and resolves problems. My review is not addressing the whole State Farm Insurance Company. I direct my comments to a…read moreparticular agent, Ryan Waggener of 2710 Locker Ave. Carlsbad California. However, it would be unfortunate if his treatment of customers would be tolerated by a reputable company like State Farm. As a matter of fact, his insulting behavior, the only reason forit me to cancel my insurance policy with State Farm without caring if I had to pay more to another company. Following is what I found unbelievable in treatment of a customer by an insurance agent. The office had recorded my mileage on the car something like 24,000 miles (even now my mileage is less than 10,000) and annual driving mileage as something like 12,000, which in fact it is less than 5,000). When I asked him where he got those numbers from, he said he did know and did not care. And was not happy for me to take the car to his office so he could see the number or even to receive a picture of my odometer. Instead, he asked me to gather a number of documents from places that I have repaired my car (My car was a new Tesla and had never been repaired before). And when I responded that his request was not appropriate, he responded: his direct quote: "I am wasting my time with you" and hung up. I was stunned and extremely angry. Never had seen anybody talking to a customer like that. One can imagine the level of my anger from the fact that even after four months (I waited to see if I could digest such a response) I am still angry and that is why I am writing this review. At the end, the anger is not the only reason I write this review. I believe the company should be informed of this type of behavior. I was a customer for the past 40 years, and this made me to leave State Farm.
