Liz is amazing at finding the exact spot and techniques to release knots and tightness. Quite, clean atmosphere with heated mattress pads for comfort and relaxation on tables. Chair massages are wonderful for a quick rub to loosen up or relieve headaches for me. I was really excited to come here after I read the reviews and was not disappointed! This place is really clean and comfortable, the only thing that may ruin the peaceful experience are other loud patrons, but I only heard 1 and I was there awhile. I scheduled a deep tissue table/ foot combo massage with Tom. There's a bit of a language barrier, but not much needs to be said, he knows what he's doing! The reflexology part actually made me fall asleep and the deep tissue was more for therapy of the knots in my back. Tom could feel every part that was off or tight and was determined to work it out. Most of, if not all, my knots are gone! He doesn't pay attention to time and makes sure you're getting what you pay for and more! I'll definitely be back! read more

I love a massage - I am that person who will take every opportunity I can to get a massage. I have been experiencing trouble with my knees, not consistent, and not even the same knee - sometimes the right one, sometimes the left one, sometimes both. Also, I should add one of my favorite things is reflexology; It is such a nice way to be pampered. I made an appointment with Tom Relax - I have been there before, but I haven't been in quite some time. I explained the issues I was having with my knees and my ankles. I put my earbud in and enjoyed one of the best knee to foot massages I have ever experienced. No, it was the best. I didn't even realize my knees were swollen to that extent, but they weren't when I left. It has been a few days, and I have felt fantastic. No pain. The care was fantastic, the staff was so kind and I won't go into details, but I was able to witness them show such grace and kindness to another person. All around everything was perfect. OH MY GOSH!!!!! 30 mins and $35 plus tip I CANNOT GET BACK!!!!! First entering- The communication was poor as i could not understand Andy. So i whipped out my phone to show him my online booking, confirmation number, and showed him I ALREADY PAID!!!!! 2nd- Again COMMUNICATION, as I already said- I SHOWED him my booking which was for a 30 min DEEP TISSUE chair massage. He couldn't get his question across to me; so he shows me what he was asking me on my forearm as to the pressure. He rubs my arm with a nod, I say no I booked a deep tissue, 30 min chair massage...... I COULD HAVE WENT FOR A PEDICURE and spent the same amount of $, and could have been massaged better. I kept telling Andy I want a deep tissue......um yeah no! If you call rubbing back and forth on the tight tendon while giving me skin burn, there was no massage cloth or massage lotion/cream at this moment, deep tissue....um, yeah no. I asked for more pressure to be applied, all he did was sort-of giggled and continued what he was doing; all while what sounded like he was trying to get food out from his teeth. He finally got to an area and finally applied DEEP PRESSURE, yeah in the last few mins! As he is rubbing back and forth on my tight tendon, I'm wondering if he is even going to get the knot out of my shoulder....it shortly ends. So the reason I went there in the first place- has not been solved but now the area is now aggravated! To make matters worse, as I previously stated, I had booked online for the service AS WELL AS PAID FOR IT!!!!!! After tipping him out.....he just looked at me with a motion as he was going to ring me out....I told him "No, I already paid online!" I again pulled out my phone and showed him the transaction on my credit union site; and the reservation with the conformation number. He then started to yell to someone in the back, walked off. I then exited Tom's Relax.....ONLY TO BE CHASED BY ANDY in the parking lot WHILE I WAS DRIVING!!! He kept telling me "Number, number." Um, my phone number? NO. all of my information is attached to my reservation.... Again pulled out my phone and showed him again the credit union transaction and online booking. Now he is taking photos with his cell....yes, with all of my CREDIT UNION INFORMATION; Amounts, account number and all!!!!! I will not be back nor will I refer this establishment. I had a 90 minute massage yesterday that left actual bruises on my back and feel like I need to warn others to avoid this business. At the very beginning the woman working on me spent a significant amount of time on my right shoulder and completely skipped my left, so I asked her if she could please work on my left shoulder as well. She then left the room and came back with what I thought to be a fascia scraper. She proceeded to aggressively rub between my shoulder blade and spine along my ribs, which was painful, but I assumed correct technique as I have never had fascia work done before. After using the scraper she again left the room and was gone so long that I sat up to see if my massage time was over already and she just failed to say goodbye. It was then that I noticed a plastic spoon like the ones you get with when your order miso soup at a sushi restaurant on the stool next to where she has been standing. She was literally using a spoon to do deep tissue work on me.... There was more about the massage that I found unprofessional but that alone should tell you enough. The icing on the cake was when I went to check out the tip options on their payment machine were preset to 30, 50, or 60%, which I have literally never seen before in all my years of receiving body work. I was so excited to learn that Tom has opened up his own Chinese massage spa. I have been receiving massage from Tom at the Lao Shan on Mill Plain for years. Tom is truly gifted in his technique. I was interested to learn more about his personal story on his website. I didn't realize that Tom is also a gifted artist. Tom painted the beautiful wall-sized mural of cranes, which symbolize luck and longevity in Chinese mythology. Tom's website was easy to use to book my appointment. I loved that I could also choose a custom massage on a particular problem area. I spend too much time typing and using a computer mouse. Liz is one of the worst people I've ever met, when I was 19, I was hired here. I was super nervous and super excited, it was a receptionist position, which I felt I was completely capable to do. I went out, and I bought special shoes, and showed up on time. When she interviewed me she brought up "not even trying" to get with her husband Allen, cause apparently a receptionist before me did that, then she also said some very homophobic things. I ignored because I was 19 and wanted a job, She said my perfume was too strong and my shoes were too loud, So i suggested that when I need to use the bathroom, I go over to a different building so I didn't walk past the massages with loud shoes and strong perfume. She said that was perfect, so she left to do a massage.. So when her husband Allen came around, I asked him if i could go use the bathroom in the building across the street, he was confused saying, just use the one in this building? So I said Liz and I talked about my shoes being too loud and we decided I should go across the street (I thought this was normal I was 19 and naive) He then simply told me to go to the bathroom. When I returned, Allen and Liz were arguing, Liz then started shouting at me that I had lied to him, though I had just relayed EXACTLY what she said to me. I was told to return to work after that, and so I did, Then a few minutes later I get a text on the work phone that I should just leave because she doesn't feel comfortable with me. Couldn't even fire me face to face, extremely embarrassing and unprofessional for a grown woman to do. I also struggle with anxiety so I went and hid in the bathroom in the other building until my sister could pick me up! Liz is an evil insecure woman. I made an appointment with Liz online for an afternoon slot. I got a call from someone at the office (they did not offer their name) and was told that they were double booked and I needed to come in later. No problem, I'm flexible - however when I showed up, the man at the front desk looked confused about my presence. He asked me to take my shoes off and when I hesitated before doing so he said, "We have to. Yes, you too." Immediately that made me uncomfortable. Then he starts to prepare a chair for me to sit in and I realize that he intends to perform my massage, not Liz. There's no one else (visibly) in the building, just me and this man in a t shirt and basketball shorts who hasn't explained what is happening. I'm a 20 something woman, and to be alone in this space with a man who doesn't appear to have any customer service experience or sense of professionalism made me uneasy to the point that I left right then. If someone is going to be touching my body - especially a stranger - I would like to be greeted and spoken to in an appropriate manner. Hopefully other people have a different experience, but mine rubbed me the wrong way and I will not be back. read more

I found this place by accident when I was running another errand. I saw a sign outside that mentioned their message treatments and I decided to call. I am so glad I did because I will be a regular here from now on! They had availability right away, which was wonderful. The inside of the center was calm and inviting. It was relaxing and soft music was playing overhead. My message technician, Ahndee (not sure how to spell his name) was amazing! He was professional and reassuring. He put me at ease and helped to make me feel comfortable. He spent a lot of time on my feet and legs, which felt wonderful. His technique was superb and really took the stress out of my back and neck. The front desk associates were polite and quiet which was appreciated. I'm visiting my mom for Mother's Day and scheduled a 90 minute foot massage for myself and 2 of my sisters. It was a really positive experience for all of us! The facility is really clean, the painting on the wall was painted by Tom and he also built the wood reception desk. When we arrived, Alan greeted us and gave us a quick tour, put away our bags behind our massage chairs. I pulled off my shoes as that is what I normally do when I go have foot massages, but he told me later that they would do that! After the foot massage, my therapist, Tom put on my socks and shoes while I was lying down on the chair! I really liked how the foot massage was finished off with a foot scrub-did not expect that! Next, Tom gave a 5-minute back, shoulders, arms, and scalp massage on a massage chair-heavenly!! I will definitely come back the next time I visit my family in Vancouver!
