After "fixing" my window regulator twice, and then ultimately telling me I needed a new window..It still isn't working to this day so I never went back for a third time. Not to mention they failed my inspection for no horn due to an aftermarket steering wheel and kept my car for weeks trying to get it working. After a quick google and YouTube search I was able to wire the horn myself and got it inspected elsewhere. It is now two years later and my window is still not working properly even though they made me buy a new one. Don't recommend. I didn't even get out of the parking lot the first time because the window was broken. read more

The tires on my wife's Grand Cherokee were worn past what I was comfortable with for the upcoming winter, so I found a good sale on the OEM's on Tire Rack. When it came time to choose an installer, there were a few higher and a few lower priced than Tomar Auto, but something about the reviews led me to think this was the installer I should choose, even though it was a bit farther than the first six or seven options that came up. I called up to arrange delivery, and from the moment I spoke to Harvey, I could tell customer service was the #1 job at his shop. He told me what to expect from Tire Rack in regard to delivery times, notifications, the whole process, etc. He called me when the tires arrived and even went above and beyond to accommodate our crazy schedules for the install. Sometimes you get lucky and find a business where you are treated like a valued customer. That's getting rarer and rarer these days. I'm going to need an alignment soon after I put new springs in my own Jeep, so I'll be making another appointment, and this time I will try to be a little "lower maintenance." read more

I wasn't going to bother reviewing but now that my trucks motor is blown which could've been prevented, I will. I brought my Jeep in a few weeks ago and left it for a few days it was having some issue starting as well as a check engine light with something else going on that I guess anybody can diagnose with the machine, not rocket science. So after a few days the guy couldn't tell me what was going on with my car and I was told to "wait till it gets worse" to bring it back in. I mean, I thought getting stuck for 40 minute intervals with my three year old son in the car waiting for my car to turn on was pretty bad? Anyway, so I got two new tires and an oil change which was a little pricey but I said screw it since it was already there. I go to pay for it and he charged me an extra hundred dollars for diagnostics meanwhile he didn't even diagnose my car? So I guess your machine gave you a code for the other problem which took you a minute and you tried to start my car a few times and looked under the hood, didn't come to a conclusion and charged me anyway. I was very annoyed by that but I didn't say anything. So on thanksgiving on my way to dinner, my truck started smoking and steam started going everywhere and I got stranded on the side of the road, brought it to a different mechanic the next day and now I have a blown motor because whatever was going on, went completely bad. I just had to put in a new transmission and now I have to put in a motor and fix whatever else is going on with the car and my car isn't even worth the amount of money I have to put in but I'm stuck because I'm still paying the car off. Called up Harvey and did not regret it one bit! Had an alignment issue with my Kia SUV and I called up the day before to drop off the car and left the key in the box. Got A call around 10:30am saying the car was ready. I was scared to ask what I owed but was pleased to find out I was going to pay exactly what I thought I would - which If you've ever been to a shady mechanic you know this is so refreshing. Awesome friendly local auto shop! Dropped the car off for a new noise and had it back in less than 16 hours. Owner, Harvey, knew me by name and spoke to me twice over the phone about the car when I had questions. Even more impressive when I dropped the car off on a Friday just before closing someone else came in with a flat tire and they stayed late to fix it up for her. Finally, a no B.S. place to get your car fixed! Harvey runs it, and always gives excellent advice, prices, and service. Once I went there with my kid's car to fix a slow leak in a tire, and was told the tire couldn't be fixed. I left my wallet at home, and only had $20 on me which was more than enough to fix the tire, had it been possible. But I needed a NEW tire. Harvey told me not to worry; I could pay next time! My Honda was in need of to two tires. I purchased them at www.tirerack.com and got a good deal. They get shipped to a location near by for installation. (Abt. $20 ea. to install) I chose Tomar Automotive in Patchogue. Admittedly, the dude who answers the phone is gruff and all business...no light fluffy talk. (Hey, it is NY!) One woman hung up on him while I was there. LOL. Tom is the owner, thus the name, and he was on site. It is family owned and been in business for a long time. The workers seem relaxed but they work like a machine. I was in and out in no time. The waiting area is clean and had some mag. to read, but it was as cold as Sarah Palin's porch. Wear your Uggs gals. They are a full service business. I would recommend them. read more

I saw online that Tomar had good reviews so I went in (without my husband) with a flat tire and a front bumper falling off my Audi. Harvey immediately made me feel very at ease. I talked to Harvey, & he agreed to examine the vehicle. Harvey gave me a very thorough review, and really seemed to care that I knew the good the bad the ugly.
