I loved this place for dinner, but definitely was not impressed with the breakfast buffet here for the price that they charged. I'm generally not a fan of buffets because of the loss of quality, but it just seemed like everything I got was cold or had little flavor. Dinner was an entirely different story! They have a buffet style setup, an egg station, and a taco station. The buffet had a good mix of American cuisine, continental offerings, and Mexican fare. Several things remained the same daily: eggs, bacon, pastries, fruit, yogurt etc. whereas the Mexican offerings would vary: pozole, mole, chilaquiles etc. Service was friendly, helpful, and attentive. He even brought us over a special meal and dessert that was made for us by the Chef at Pitahayas, our favorite restaurant at Hacienda Del Mar. One last anniversary celebration before our departure and it was beautiful and so special thanks to Antonio and the beautiful service staff at the resort. While visiting Hacienda Del Mar in Los Cabos, MX, this is our favorite place to come to for a great breakfast buffet or evening dinner. The food is always tasty and the staff are so nice and welcoming. Not to mention the restaurant overlooks the Sea of Cortez. My husband and I went to Tomatoes this evening at 7PM (no reservation) to grab a pizza. While the restaurant did not look all that busy, the hostess said she could not seat us until 8. So we asked to get a pizza to go to take to our room. The hostess said NO, we could not do that. So, we walked back to our room empty-handed and ordered a pizza from room service. How could we not get a pizza to go in person but we could get one from room service? From an Italian restaurant at a resort??? In low season. Fortunately, we were here on an RCI exchange with one day to go after 14 days, so we will never have to deal with this lack of hospitality again. read more

Horrible lunch experience with super slow service. We decided to grab a bite while waiting for our room to get ready. Everything took forever. It took 10 min to place an appetizer order, after 30 min we had to ask where our guacamole was (which shouldn't have taken 30 minutes to make) before someone brought it out, another 10 min to place our order for lunch, and then another 45-60 minutes to get our lunch. This is not good for tired hangry travelers. My husband ordered the pork dish and they didn't have his requested side (rice) so they just added roasted potatoes which were super bland instead of asking him his preference for a substitute. It was a huge portion and he liked the mole sauce. I ordered the catch of the day in garlic butter with a sweet potato purée. It was pretty good, but had way too much overcooked garlic on top. The restaurant is a much better option for their breakfast buffet. Great food selections and service is 100x better. read more

My husband and I decided to have dinner at this hotel on our first night. We were among the first guests to try the buffet when it opened, but unfortunately, the food was served cold. The ceviche lacked proper marination and lacked flavor. The tortilla soup tasted more like tomato soup, and the rice was strangely hard and flavorless. Additionally, we found it odd that pork was served with Mole. The buffet itself was quite small. While I don't mind paying for high-quality food, the lack of flavor and authenticity in the Mexican dishes was disappointing. It's unfortunate that the restaurant wasn't busy because that could have allowed for better options and ensured the food was served hot. Overall, considering the poor quality of the food, the buffet seemed overpriced. I gave it one star because I had to give it a star to write the review. The view and staff Hector, and Killian deserve five star reviews. They were very attentive and apologize for the poor quality and tasting food. read more

Mexican food cuisine choices as well as fresh fruits and drinks, bottomless coffee and mimosas and even great green healthy juice! Kids have their selections of cereal, omelets, pancakes and French toast, and more. Their brunch Buffett is good here and at night also gets converted to a nice dinner area. Besides having the dinner buffet here on our first night, we've had the breakfast buffet every morning since we've been here. Partly because it's convenient for us since we are staying here at the Hacienda Del Mar, partly because it is a pretty decent breakfast buffet. They have an omelet station where you put in a bowl what you would like from a selection of meats and vegetables and one of the ladies will make the omelet for you. There is also a breakfast station with scramble eggs, pancake, waffles, ect. Then there is the yogurt area with a variety of yogurt, fruits, granola, seeds, etc. They also offer a good selection of breads and deserts. In addition to all the other options, there is a whole section of what I would call non-breakfast items. This section changes every day...which I liked so I get to have something different everyday. It is mostly Mexican dishes...items like posole, quesadilla, chicken mole, etc. They have a complete selection of coffee options...cafe con leche, cappuccino, latte, etc. They also offer oj and a green juice. All in all, it provides a good variety for breakfast and many items are quite good. The servers are all very nice and work very hard. They always seems a little short handed. My only complaint is the price variation. On our first 2 days, we were charged $20 USD per person. On the 3rd day, it went up to $29 USD per person. When we asked about the price, we were informed the $20 USD per person was a promotion. No signs indicated the price so if pricing is a concern to you, you might want to ask before being seated. read more

This is the main restaurant for the Sheraton. They have a breakfast buffet every morning from 7-11am as well as themed dinner buffets. The buffet costs 34$ per adult and half price (17$) for kids over 5yrs old. The resort is not all inclusive but this restaurant takes credit cards or you can put it on your room tab. Some room options for the resort include two adult breakfast buffets complimentary. The buffet has a nice big selection and it's presented well. For breakfast they have savory options such as beans, lentils, chips, guacamole, salsa, as well as sweet options like pancakes, waffles, pastries, oatmeal, etc. The fresh juice is delicious, papaya was my fave. The mimosas and bloody Mary's are included in the buffet. The service is very good. Our waitress was so sweet and our kids loved her and gave her hugs. read more

It's buffet service and we tried a little bit of most of the options. Nothing was good. Nothing! It was Italian night for the buffet. Pasta salad with rock hard, nearly uncooked pasta. Pasta marinara with watery, runny tomato sauce. Salmon lasagna with a very distinctive fishy taste. I'm pretty sure the hotel is all inclusive meaning this meal is "free" for most of the customers. At least this would explain why most people were stacking their plates higher than seemed physically possible. It was a bit of an architectural wonder of the world to see how much food could be fit on one plate, but none of the food tasted good enough to justify the effort. If you're looking to see how much food you can get on a plate and stuff in your belly this is your place. If you are looking for a good meal I would stay away. read more

I really enjoyed eating at this restaurant. I was fortunate to experience it twice! It is hands down the best place to eat breakfast at the Sheraton resort. The view is great, the food and drinks are fresh and the waiters are very attentive. The Bloody Mary's and Mimosa bar was unlimited and great. Additionally there was a station for omelets, toast, juice, and fresh yummy fruits. My absolute favorite was the papaya. It was tasty! One evening we experienced the outdoor buffet. It was so good. The grilled octopus was absolutely phenomenal. We enjoyed eating here during our stay at the hotel. For breakfast, we typically did the continental buffet however looking at the full buffet it is clearly extravagant with everything from chilaquiles to omelets to mexican hot chocolate and a full american breakfast. We most enjoyed the buffet nights they rotated each night for times we didn't feel like leaving the hotel (with our kids). They have live entertainment each night (mexican dancers, singers, violin player) all of which we enjoyed and our kids loved it! It has a nice view over the water - particularly when the whales are passing by. read more

The selection was phenomenal, including even gluten free pastry options, both American and Mexican traditional breakfast items and unlimited beverages alcoholic or otherwise. I also loved that they included savory "lunch" like options. It was a bit overpriced for my taste, but given the amazing service and attentiveness of Rosia and Victor it definitely warranted four stars. read more

Enchiladas de mole were great! I have had chicken mile many times and chicken mole enchiladas and the mole is always what makes or breaks it. And the mole enchiladas were spot on! Had a "tomato" soup as well that was more like a tortillas soup (it was spicier and darker than tomato soup, and came with a side plate of cheese, avocado, tortilla strips for toppings). I was disappointed to find out that their quality of 'pizza' tastes like Domino's and Papa John's in the US. We ordered a spinach goat cheese, but where is the goat cheese? I could only taste low-quality mozzarella. (This is the first time in Mexico that I refused to continue chewing on a particular order). I have had fresher Mexican cheese's at Cassasola and Cabo Bread Factory. Their salmon tartine was somewhat interesting. They layered pickled artichokes on top of the salmon, which gave it a unique flavor. My husband, though, was not a fan. He prefers the LOX on baguettes than egg-fried bread. read more
