What a gorgeous restaurant. The location is on the side of a cliff overlooking the ocean. It's sooo dreamy and beautiful, especially at sunset. Our group of 8 arrived on time for our reservation at 7pm. However, I wish we'd arrived a little earlier because sunset was fading quickly. We had the photographer snap some photos of us before it was too dark and they turned out beautifully. The food was sooo amazing. Everything I tried was fresh and delicious. We had the $95/pp 3-course menu and it was just enough food. Beware that drinks are not included in that price. I'd highly recommend this restaurant. I will say that the servers could be more pleasant and also be less rude about the gratuity aspect of the bill. We are well aware that gratuity is a necessary part of the bill and we tip very well. We booked this experience well in advance for our 41st wedding anniversary, expecting it to be a truly phenomenal and memorable evening. While there were some wonderful aspects to our dinner, unfortunately, the overall experience did not live up to what was promised--particularly considering the $355 Celebration Package. The Celebration Package included a welcome toast with Italian sparkling wine, professional photographs of our evening, a special table setting with a beautiful bouquet of flowers and additional lighting, and a surprise "amenity to complete our celebration." The flowers and setting were beautiful, and the location itself is absolutely spectacular. However, when we arrived, our table had only ONE place setting. When I asked our waiter about the second setting, he seemed surprisingly nonchalant about it, and it took some time before it was brought to the table. For a $355 package reserved well in advance for two people celebrating an anniversary, this immediately gave the impression that the details had not been properly prepared. More disappointing was the promised surprise "amenity to complete our celebration," which was never presented to us at all. The views were amazing, and the live performance by the female vocalist was one of the highlights of the evening. What a beautiful voice and a wonderful addition to the atmosphere. We ordered the five-course dinner. As the photos show, some of the courses were superb--beautifully presented and delicious--while others were noticeably below par. Some portions, particularly the entrée, were so small that it almost appeared the kitchen was running out of food. It reminded me of an episode of The Bear where the kitchen is trying desperately to make it through service. Service was also inconsistent. At one point I simply asked our waiter what type of truffles were used in the fettuccine--white or black? His rather snippy response was, "They're winter truffles." It was an unnecessarily dismissive answer to a very straightforward question. When guests are paying for a premium dining experience, knowledgeable, courteous service should be part of that experience. I was also surprised by the restaurant's approach to its stated dress code. When making our reservation, the policy was very clear: "Dress Code: Smart Casual (BEACH ATTIRE AND SANDALS ARE NOT ALLOWED)" Yet a number of guests were wearing baseball hats, flip-flops and beach attire, with some appearing as though they had just come in from a day of fishing. There is nothing wrong with casual attire, but if a restaurant establishes and communicates a dress code--particularly for what is marketed as an upscale dining experience--it should either enforce that policy consistently or not advertise it as a requirement. There is no question that the setting and views are spectacular, and there were portions of our meal that were excellent. The flowers were beautiful, the live entertainment was outstanding, and we certainly enjoyed celebrating 41 years together overlooking such an incredible view. But when a restaurant offers a $355 Celebration Package on top of an already premium dining experience, the details matter. Having only one place setting prepared for an anniversary dinner for two, failing to provide a promised celebration amenity, inconsistent food quality and portions, dismissive service, and an advertised dress code that seemingly wasn't enforced made the evening fall short of the exceptional experience we had anticipated. For an ordinary dinner, some of these things might be easily overlooked. For our 41st anniversary--and at this price point--we expected considerably better attention to detail. read more

My nephew desired to have an amazing birthday dinner & a couple of the resort staff members suggested the restaurant Sunset Monalisa. Small , elegant and quaint setting with ten tables . We went on a Monday night and there; they had a beautiful young lady singing along with a small but awesome band. Above the restaurant is a night spot " Jazz on the Rock ", which was playing soft jazz. The staff members were very polite and knowledgeable about the entire menu and drinks menu as well. But to their credit, F&B GM Manuel Herrera personally reached out after my review, invited us back, and completely changed the experience for us. There were some inconsistencies on the table from one person and another ordering the same short rib dish (portion size and temperature) - and this is where they dropped a star in my book. That said, the food was delicious. And the deserts? OH YEA. Worth the price. But the kitchen has some homework to tend to... We had the 3 course tasting menu with another 6 course tasting menu. Most of the dishes were fine but the grilled octopus was disappointing. It was rather bland without much of char taste. We were checked upon by Jasmine and Manuel who ensured we had a great table. The 3 course meal was great and just right for us. The ambience and the overall atmosphere is a 10 out of 10. Amazing views. Locals seemed to come for the views, pictures, and drinks only. Next time would do the same. We were surprised to be able to make reservations on the day before. This weekend was mostly overcast and sometimes even raining and the weather cleared up so we got to see beautiful views. They even sat us at an oceanfront table, but the glass is quite opaque and you can't see through it if you're right next to it. As the sun was going down it was so cold that we needed to move inside. They do have some small blankets but it isn't enough for the cold and both a heater and blankets would have been nice. It felt a little bit sparse for a restaurant with four decades of history on prime real estate; we understand those parties with events get priority for blankets and stoves but there should be enough to go around. We ordered: Scallops: 5/5 decent and perfectly cooked! Oysters: 1/5 salty and overly doused in cheese or some other sauce. Only the oyster with 2 pieces of truffle would have been perfect! Red snapper: 0/5 triple the price of the one at the office and a third of the size. Beef ravioli: 3/5 this one is one of the better items to order, good meat to pasta ratio in the ravioli, also topped with truffles Australian wagyu (16oz): 1/5 a crazy size for one person, definitely shareable but that's pretty much the only upside to it. It was charred to a point of toughness beyond "well done" despite us asking for "medium," a disrespect to Wagyu. All around the table our favorite thing to eat was the mashed sweet potato. Everything was served somewhat cold. Overall I'm not even sure if this can be considered Mediterranean cuisine, because that would have dips and tzatziki and lots of vegetables. Overall this reminds me of the grand view restaurant in San Jose: nice for views but the food is not something I would pay for otherwise, but worse because you can't really see through the windows. With a 5pm reservation, we got to experience a beautiful view of the arch of Cabo before admiring the gorgeous sunset, which was signaled by the servers blowing into conch shells. They were kind enough to let me substitute course one due to dietary restrictions. I had an heirloom salad, truffle fettuccine, seared totoaba, confit duck, filete tenderloin, and coconut sorbet. The highlight of the meal was the truffle fettuccine. The pasta was al dente and the dish was full of cheese and butter. Delicious! The least successful dish was the fish. It was my first time having totoaba and I found it to be significantly lacking flavor. My husband had the 14 oz tenderloin filet, which came with two sides. He got mashed sweet potato, which looked unappetizing, and roasted vegetables. The steak was good but the sides were not. If you're looking for a really amazing view at an oceanside open air restaurant in Cabo, this is it. Lastly, for the price of the entire meal, which was north of $500, I simply didn't feel I got the value. It was severely overpriced. But I knew that going in but that the food would be much better. First of all, this may seem obvious but the location is at a point right on the ocean, so plan to go for sunset! We went later due to childcare obligations, but it was still a beautiful setting with heat lamps burning and the sound of the ocean waves. The Jazz band was excellent as well. Wait staff were kind and provided great service. My husband and I paid for premium seats ($25 pp) and chose the 6 course pre-fixe menu which they allowed us to modify slightly to get our preferred desserts. Overall, the food was good though we felt most of the menu items leaned on the sweet side when the items are typically served savory. We would have preferred savory and we're not sure if the sweetness is a modification based on beliefs about tourist taste preferences (which we have seen when traveling before). For example, the first course was bone marrow (excellent) and a kampachi crudo. The crudo was not very cold and the flavor was sweet. The sweetness made me prefer the bone marrow. One of the last courses was a filet...a cut f meet that often needs little to enhance it. We've had filet mignon many times in many places, and the cut is savory and not overly fatty and does not require much to bring out the flavor. However, our filet here was once again sweet. It was cooked perfectly medium rare, but we would have enjoyed it more without the modification to the flavor. The cocktails were pretty good. They are named after the 7 deadly sins. My husband tried Pride which was a good balanced tequila drink and not too sweet. I tried Lust (at the recommendation of our server). It was good but a bit sweet for me again. I ordered an old fashioned with woodford reserve afterwards but did not finish it as the ratios were off.....it was watered down and my husband thought it needed more bitters (he makes an excellent old fashioned himself). I would stick to the cocktail list and to tequila cocktails since that's what they do best. The octopus was a little chewy, but not too much so. Also, it tasted charred but not a good charred grilled...like it had hints of the coal on it or something. My husband didn't mind it as much as I did. The sea bass was excellent! The truffle pasta was also excellent! The desserts were also excellent! We had the lavender cheesecake and chocolate espresso mousse. Still beautiful, and we were still charged. The confusing preset menu is $99 + per person, with lower than average food quality. Their focaccia, of which they were generous, was absolutely delicious... the rest of the food was fine, but not the quality they pretend to present/offer. Cocktails were $36/ per. The wine list was a joke. I ordered a Los Cantos, 2021 Tempranillo (from Spain) at $131, then found it at the grocery store the next day for $34. I mean.... I understand charging $80... or even $100. but really.... $131? How gluttonous. We don't mind paying the prices... if food and service are good. We had to ask to have our waters filled multiple times. And the moths outside were a horrible nuisance, with no care from the staff. Sunset Monalisa delivered a legendary anniversary dinner. We had preferred seating, and the view alone was worth the reservation -- watching the sun set over the ocean with the arch in the distance felt surreal. Our daughters ordered the Wagyu steak, which was good -- nicely cooked and tender -- but honestly, we've had better at other places. Still, they enjoyed it. My wife and I went with the six-course tasting menu, and every dish was beautifully presented and full of bold, thoughtful flavors. Truly a culinary experience from start to finish. The entire night felt like a movie -- the ambiance, the service, the food... it was epic. The staff made us feel special the whole evening, and they even helped us celebrate with some great photo moments. That said, like most of Cabo, it doesn't come cheap -- dinner for a family of four came to just under $1,000, and the photos at the end were another $60. Beautiful place! Someone recommended it to us with little detail and we got there early enough that they had a spot for us even without a reservation. We loved that they took their time with everything to let you enjoy dinner and your company. We also got a perfect spot to watch the sun go down. It's a 3 or 6 course option only, which was fine.. but we weren't super hungry. While the food was beautiful- it didn't seem to be as high quality as you would expect for the price. My pasta was gummy, the scallops were overcooked and not properly prepared, the dessert/cake was quite dry. The drinks however, were fabulous! As was the bread they start you out with. We concluded that you're paying more for the experience here than the food. We had a great night.. but probably wouldn't go back. read more

Yes, it's very expensive, and many deride it as a "tourist trap". But the location simply cannot be better, and going there at sunset is an amazing experience. So go there once, as an experience, more than a meal. The food is very good, but not great. The overall experience though, is great. read more
