This review is for the self-wash doggy grooming station. I was able to make an appointment online for the same day. The cost is $20 for 30 minutes at the station. They had everything that you would need - towels, shampoo, conditioner, blow dryer, ear cleaner, deranging spray, doggy cologne, and brushes. It was very clean. I can't say my dog enjoyed it because she hates baths, but I thought it was convenient and easy. I'd definitely recommend this to any dog owner out there. read more

This Tomlinson's location is decently large, with quite the foster kitten area! 2 self dog wash stations in little rooms, something like $15 and includes all the tools and treats you'll need to get through bath time. Tomlinson's carries Lotus baked (not extruded) dog kibble, our favorite. And the bulk treat station is *a steal* compared to those bags of treats. Unfortunately, they've switched their brands of rawhide alternatives from No-Hide chews to Nothin' to Hide. Nice to change it up but we find no-hide brand lasts longer. read more

I came across this new location on my way to a Yelp event yesterday. I stopped in the get a bag of dog food as we were running low. This location like the others has a welcoming and helpful team. The store is well stocked and carried our go to items like Wellness brand food, venison chews and chicken chips which are locally sourced and natural. Tomilson's also does wonderful things for the local shelters and rescue groups by hosting meet and greats with adoptable cats & dogs. Went in with a lot of questions about cat treats and cat food. Rose was the most helpful person I have ever talked to about this subject. It is so confusing to research the best foods and feeding practices online. She knew specific ingredients off the top of her head on different products and why it was good or bad. Truthfully, I think I like coming here more than my dog because he recently discovered their self dog wash stations. I like that there's a large array of very high quality dog foods. I think my dog would actually settle for eating anything, so I like that he's eating a high quality diet. The bulk treats that they have are great and the prices on bones and knuckles in that middle aisle are much cheaper than at big box pet stores. I'm always getting introduced to new awesome treats for my dog that are made and sourced in the US or Canada. The monthly promos are pretty awesome and the savings you get with their pet club membership really pays for itself fast - the food isn't exactly cheap, but you get what you pay for. This particular location always had me torn because it's down the street from Bark & Purr. They're both on the way back from the vet office when I'm feeling most like spoiling my dog. I just find myself going to Tomlinsons more often. read more

I am just going to be honest: I probably was a terrible pet parent before stepping into Tomlinson's. Everyone here is so awesome and knowledgable. I had a new puppy who was chewing his way through my shoe and phone charger collection and they had just the solution for me. I had a cat who was infamous for the litter trails he would leave all around the house, and they also had a solution just for me. I learned more about quality pet food in my first visit than I ever have in all my years of owning pets, it was great. They also have a wide variety of toys, pet accessories and most importantly: treats. I do not go to the big box pet stores anymore because Tomlinson's is my new go-to place for my fur babies. This evening I decided to finally try the dog wash for one of our dogs that really sheds alot (double coat). It was awesome! Brushing him with a furinater makes a huge mess even when I try to get most of the fur in the trash or compost. There was one kind of shampoo but 2 really nice conditioners, ear cleaners, towels, rubber aprons for me, several herbal sprays and oatmeal treatments, treats and a super powerful blow dryer! The girl at the counter walked me through the process and before you know it I had spent over a half hour grooming my furball and he loved it! My tip would be to hold the dryer farther away from your dog to help with the loud noise it makes. I also took in a postcard they sent me for 20% off and so it came out to $ 12.99 (usually $15) . So it is a bit expensive but you get what you pay for. And they gave ME an apple pie! I also didn't have to hunch over, have a cold wet dog or clean. It was cool ;) read more

I have a Gigantic St. Bernard and this place has been a blessing for us. It's fairly priced and the best part is you do not have to bring anything, but you and your furry animal. This location has awesome washing stations that are roomed in (2 rooms) so that if you have multiple furbabies like I do (3 ankle biting fur monsters), it's easy to just close the door, unleash/unharness them and get to work. Plus, they're not as distracted by the goods and other animals wandering the store! The two girls working when I went were both super friendly and helpful as well. They engaged the dogs with treats and belly rubs and were patient with us during check out as they, and I, tend to get distracted by all the fun colorful, and fun tasting, offerings they had everywhere. I went here mainly to bathe my Aussiedoodle and the clerks were so nice and helpful. I was shown how to work everything in the private room (water , shampoo, conditioner, dryer) and bottom line, my dog came out clean, smelling good and dry. As a plus, there were treats in the room. An amazing local family owned natural pet food store. Today was the Grand Opening of Tomlinson's 10th location in Allendale, Austin. I came 40 minutes before the grand opening to get a feel for the real store experience. Moments after walking in a staff member came to greet me and asked if I had any questions or needed help finding anything. The store fits a variety of products into a semi medium - small space. They have a vast selection of natural dog and cat pet foods. I was impressed by the large treat aisle and bins, and the organic bulk biscuits (utilizing spelt as the grain) was a win with my dogs. They have a small selection of toys, and other quality pet supplies. The store is bright, clean, and the staff were phenomenally friendly and informative. The owner, Scott Click was there, and had overheard me mentioning this was my first time in a Tomlinson store, and he came and introduced himself, and told me a little bit more about what makes this place special. I love history, so the facts I found to be very interesting. The store started in 1946 at their 49 1/2 street location as a chick hatchery by Mr. Tomlinson. As time went on, the store evolved to match the demands of the customer and became a feed store, which also wholesaled birds to other pet stores. In 1971, the father of Scott Click took over ownership of Tomlinson's, and they moved into the natural retail pet store it is today. Scott's children are now involved in the business as well. I love to see local businesses grow and thrive, and there is a reason why Tomlinson's is now 10 stores strong, because in my experience they focus on quality product and customer experience. I took advantage while I was there to join their Pet club. If you have dogs like mine who can only eat high end expensive natural dog food, then the Pet Club is the way to make it more affordable. For only $7.50 per year, Pet Club members get a 10% off all pet food purchases, heads up on monthly specials, invites to seasonal events, and other stuff. They had me at 10% off food purchases. The current dog store I shop at only has 10% off for NON food items, so this was a huge plus for me. I probably will still go find cheap dog toys elsewhere, but I now have a new go to for natural food and treats. read more

I love Tomlinson's! I trust that everything they carry is good for my pup and they have a huge selection of toys, treats, food & everything else you need for your pet. My favorite part about this location is the dog wash! I brought Rufus in today and the lady working showed me how to use it. It was insanely easy... the hose mixes soap & water and then you do a rinse. After you can blow dry (Rufus wasn't a fan of that) or towel them. Towels are provided and so is shampoo, and other stuff like ear wash, scented spray and brushes. It was amazingly convenient and since it is in a closed room I didn't have to worry about my dog running away. The whole thing took about 5 minutes. I had a coupon for a free wash so I'm not sure how much it usually is but it's definitely worth checking out if you want to avoid the usual mess of trying to wash your dog at home. Everyone who works here is very nice and knowledgable and they are always willing to help you carry food, etc. This is definitely my favorite pet store in Austin and the dog wash here takes it to the next level! FLEAS! I had noticed my indoor cat constantly fidgeting and struggling with grooming and scratching to an annoying degree -annoying to him! He's normally a chill cuddler and likes to be near his humans and sit or sleep. Not this week, his scratching and grooming snorts sent me running to Tomlinson's for answers and hopefully reasonable solutions. Being allowed to shop unfettered and not be pestered is a plus in my book. When I had questions, the folks at Tomlinson's kicked it into high gear and were there to help. My questions were answered and questions I hadn't thought to ask were answered. Wondercide Natural - Cedar & Lemongrass was the recommendation to treat my home. I also picked up a Seresto flea collar- another recommendation since I'm super wary of the topical drops.
