I have been here several times, and have always had a great time! Lots of great people, very welcoming, always great music playing and a good bartender! It's a true beach dive bar, and just so much fun! I love the decor and I have had nothing but margaritas there, because they are the absolute best anywhere! I've been coming to AMI for years but first time staying near Bridge street, so got to check out more places than usual. So glad we decided to stumble in to Tommy Knockers. Tiny local-driven dive bar with an Ohio State and Buffalo Bills following but any sports are fair game on the TVs. Bartenders that all felt like friends with each other in and outside of work. Even on your first visit, they treat you like you've known them for years. This clearly rubs certain people the wrong way based on other reviews, so to each their own, but my group had a great time with it! Kyle wasn't at all annoyed by our antics and even jokingly joined in. Can't really review the drinks because all we had was a case of Mich ultra, but I remember them being super cheap. read more

We came here as a final stop for our friend's 25th birthday bash. The bartender was super friendly, knew her stuff and made me the most delicious watermelon margarita from scratch. We learned she even grew up around the area we are from in Michigan! We will defiantly be back! read more

A very small bar in a strip mall, we are from Buffalo and chose this bar as Bills fans that wanted to watch the game in public. Tons of TV's so everyone could watch, the owner served Sahlens hot dogs & Weber mustard (free of charge before the game started - they do not sell food there). Nice to watch the game with other fans but I do not recommend this place if you are traveling with a party over 4 people (too small). They setup a pop up tent outside with a TV to try to accommodate the influx of visitors) for a 1 pm game both inside and outside the bar it was a bit warm. Drinks were very reasonably priced however and our party of 9 people (7 drinkers) with shots left the bar with only a $220 bill. At half time we got take out from the Wicked Cantina (Mexican food) in the same strip mall. read more

Fire the bartender. She not only squeezed my lemons into my mixed drink(after smoking a cig and not washing hands)-But tourist came in as asked for a beer. This review is way overdue. We stayed in AMI last December and found Tommy Knockers by chance trying to find an ATM. What a great discovery! Tucked away between a laundromat and some other business I can't recall in a parking lot plaza is this gem. The cozy and inviting bar looks like a converted garage which has been expertly refurbished and now features designer nautical décor along with high quality wooden tables and chairs, high resolution TVs and a modern jukebox playing the best of 80s and 90s. It's so hidden you can't even find it on google maps and mostly frequented by locals which makes it the more charming with a laid back vibe, good beer, and super friendly staff! The place is also spick-and-span everywhere you look which is a big plus. We'll definitely be back on our next visit! read more

Been coming to this bar for years, as my family comes to AMI annually for vacation. Until recently our experience was great and Tommy knockers was our favorite bar. Unfortunately, the bartender, Tita, I believe her name is, has ruined our experience and has caused us to completely avoid this establishment. She's extremely rude, has repeatedly taken our money when we pay for our bills and automatically assumed the rest was her tip. I'm talking, we give $100 bill for a $50 bar tab for 6 people and she automatically puts the rest of the $50 in her tip jar. When I asked for change, she bluntly said "I'm taking your change for my tip." After this situation, we started using credit cards and got our statements back with double the amount of drinks charged to our tab than we actually drank by THE SAME bartender. It honestly sucks but this behavior is not what you're looking for on vacation. read more

My #1 thing to find on any vacation is a great dive bar. And based on the reviews, we were excited to visit this place UNTIL... we walked into the open bar (meaning there's no door into this place, it's completely open other than 1 small step) with our service dog and were told that dogs had to stay outside. And we're so used to being told this even if our dog is a service dog, but when only his paws are on the step and the response from the manager is "no really, he needs to be completely outside", that kinda irritates you. But then the REAL irritation sinks in cause then he continues to say after my apology (which wasn't warranted, but I'm a military gal and raised right) "the girls always forget". WTF does that mean??? I'm far from a feminist, but please keep your chauvinistic comments to yourself!!! My hubby is a 32yr Vet who needs his dog by his side to ensure he doesn't choke slam someone. And thank the good Lord he was in the restroom when all this went down cause no dog would have calmed him down. To all my military folks: this ain't a place for US! read more
