I was going to give two stars since the burgers are decent but I settled on one star because it seems to be a trend in AK that popular places with decent food are more than happy to provide customers with inadequate seating and horrendous wait times; frankly I'm rather tired of this trend. A place that everyone raves about should have more than four pathetic picnic tables. People were forced to eat in the parking lot, standing up in corners, it's ridiculous. I don't care how good your food is if your facility is smaller than a rest stop bathroom and it takes an hour before the cook even sees your order. read more

Still the best place to get a burger. The portions are so generous and the cost is so reasonable. My only discrepancy is that they are very sparse in seating options, should you chose to dine-in. But they are very quick in making the food and super friendly staff. 10/10 recommend to all burger lovers. read more

Good burgers. Great burgers yummy fries. Also the strawberry vanilla milkshake was appetizing. I enjoyed it. Lovely place has character. But burger did taste like a plain Jane burger. In all honesty. And the price. I totally forgot about the $22 price for onion rings small fries small and a burger. It's simply ground beef with cheap easy toppings. But I must remember I'm in Alaska. This is the second time that I have been to Tommy's Burger Stop, and it was awesome as usual. The first trip was about two years ago and I had the Green Eggs and Spam burger, and I knew that I had to come back because it was so wonderful. This trip we had the R.L.E Hello Burger and it was fantastic. We also had one of the Louisiana style po-boys and it was also very good. If you are in Anchorage, I recommend you stop by and have one of their great burgers or sandwiches. read more

We were in Anchorage for 2 days and went to Tommy's both days. Super friendly people, patient and helpful. Fun decor, a little bit of something for everyone to look at. It is just a down to earth, fun place. The burgers were amazing!! My husband and step kids are infamously picky, but even they were excited to go back a 2nd time. The aloha burger was soooo good!! Whoa, huge burgers! Everything was very fresh even mid winter in Alaska. The staff was super friendly, knowledgable and made the whole experience more enjoyable. Now, the place is small (4 picnic tables indoors. Outside seating seasonally). It was not fast. It was also pretty pricey. Just be prepared for those things and you will leave happy. My absolute favorite place for burgers anywhere! They are a little spendy but considering how big the portions and how tasty you are definitely getting your money's worth. I'm confused why everyone seems to love this place. It was probably the worst burger I have ever had. I waited forever to order which I didn't mind since it had great reviews I had high hopes for the place. When I finally got my burger about 30ins after ordering the burger was warm at best and the fries were cold not to mention the patty looked like a freezer patty you buy at Sam's and the fries were the same just some cheap fries you get at the grocery store. I wish I could say it was just my order that was bad and or messed up but the friend I went with had the exact same reaction as I did. Honestly I didn't even want to eat it but I don't like wasting food so I ate it and have never returned. Very disappointed read more

I do not wish to write a book like some of the others, so I will try and keep it simple. The hamburgers and onion rings were great, the shrimp po-boy needed more shrimp! The only reason I'm giving it a 4 is because of the parking/environment. Once you fight your way through the addicts and drunks outside, you should be ok, I hope. In my humble opinion it's the best of the classic burger joints in town akin to Arctic Roadrunner and The Lucky Wishbone. Professional service, fantastic food, and happy people! My personal favorite is the Stella Blue Burger, it's just one hell of a burger. You can't go wrong stopping by here for a quick bite. I recommend ordering to pick up during the busy summer months unless you don't mind waiting but just know it's a small place so of course it can get packed quick! read more

I have been in Anchorage for about 5 years now, and am originally from Fairbanks. I take pride in my burgers, and am usually one of the first guys you see when the snow melts (or usually before) out with my little Webber BBQ making burgers for the guys. I was introduced to this place by my girlfriend at the time (now my wife, she's got good taste!), and I have been back at least once a month since then. Every time somebody comes to town to visit, we go here, and I have yet to find anybody that hasn't absolutely loved it. It is a small place, and I mean -small-. The place barely fits the 4 plastic picnic tables that are in there for seating, and you usually stand in line with your butt in somebody's face. That aside though, these burgers are amazing! They serve Po-boys and burgers mainly there, but all I have ever eaten are the burgers. They have all the basics (plain, cheese, bacon cheese), and then a selection of gourmet burgers that have things like mozzarella, blue cheese, avacado, fried egg, deli meats and more. The things that make them perfect in my book though are the burger patties and the fries. They cook their burgers to perfection, never too dry, but never too rare, always juicy and well sized (they have a small sized burger for those of you without American appetites). The other is their fries, which I'm fairly certain now is seasoned with Johnny's and black pepper. I may be wrong on the exact seasoning ingredients, but they are AWESOME! I always leave here with a heavy and satisfied belly. The staff takes a lot of pride in their local community, evidenced by their staff (which I'm pretty sure are Rollerderby girls or their biggest fans) and all the local art and memorabilia over every square inch of the place (which means it's pretty crowded even on the walls). The wait time changes a lot, so to be safe I tend to order ahead for takeout. The price is a little steep for a burger, but it is well worth it in the end. If you haven't been here before, GO NOW! read more
