Due to snow and subzero temps the clown was forced to visit a chain burger place. Also reluctantly writing a review putting evidence out there that I go to chains. Ugh, but I digress. After perusing the few tables that had people eating burgers, decided to go with the wrap option, not wanting a loaf of bread surrounding my burger! Got the keto wrap, it had bacon and an egg, they must be pushing it or it's new, since it was cheaper than the wrap without all the extra protein. This place has changed for the worse. Burgers are good, but expensive for the size. There was a BBQ burger in the past which I liked, but is no longer offered. My biggest complaint is that the menu has changed as well as the quantity of some of the food. They no longer offer frozen custard, but only custard shakes. This is a big letdown because the frozen custards were quite good. Also, the size of the custard shakes seem smaller. I remember them being larger in the past. Now they're smaller for the same amount of money. The beer has also increased in price from $3.50 to $5.00. That's quite a bit of inflation, and again, has the size decreased?? Only one person in the front taking orders and I saw hot food ready to be served sitting on the bar between the kitchen and the service area for an equal amount of time. Didn't seem like there was much of a team atmosphere as there were two people in the back, not willing to come and help the guy in the front out when he was obviously drowning in orders. They are also out a lot of local beer on tap. Even though they advertise, their great beer and wine selection. It seems they are trying to sell this cool hip vibe here, but none of the people that work here are into it... They seem to be irritated that they have to work. Yikes. The onion rings while absolutely epic, were a misleading opener to a dismal meal. I am not sure what the BurgerFi sauce is truly supposed to taste or look like, as I couldn't find any on any of the burgers ordered. In pictures it looks orange, almost like thousand island dressing maybe? It was 100% absent. But OK, a burger can still taste good if otherwise well prepared. Yet the burgers were dry and absolutely tasteless. As in there was zero seasoning in/on the beef patty. I appreciate it when food is not over salted, but I also appreciate it when a restaurant understands that seasonings such as salt or pepper actually enhance flavors. Even McDonald's has a seasoning shaker... The lettuce and tomato were fresh and tasty. That's all I tasted. I am absolutely floored that even without seasoning the beef had zero flavor. The buns were dry and had no flavor as well. But the onion rings, WOW. Outstanding. After then checking reviews across DoorDash, Yelp (OMG the Yelp reviews), and Google etc., I see that they are not terribly consistent and my experience is not unique. This may be a better place to dine in where you can raise your concerns to staff. As a self-professed burger aficionado, I will give any burger a fair shot. This was my first time eating anything from this franchise but I have to say it was a pleasant experience. I ordered online because I was in a meeting. I must say the website is easy to use. The selection was better than most burger joints. I purchased the prime rib sandwich with wagyu. The bun was airy, lite, and a touch of sweetness like a Hawaiian roll. My husband ordered the BBQ Rodeo Burger and his was better but then I looked at the prices again and don't understand why his burger, which had way more toppings was actually cheaper, it makes no sense. The long-haired, disheveled human taking our order was bothered just by our being there. He made sure our first (and only) time at this establishment was awkward and untasty. It was a day planned for lots to do. Early morning wake up call followed by a 2.5 hour drive up to the PFD office in Anchorage. Afterwards we head to the park so the boys can run around and dad can can hit the skatepark. While there we walk the young wolf pups known as our sons in the mall to blow off more energy. All of a sudden... whats the smell? What does that sign say? BurgerFi? Whats this all about? Tut tut - what makes this burger place smell so good? The signage began to indicate what made this place special. Certified angus smash burgers with minimal ingredients. After a small debate - we decide to try it out. We order 2 double patty with bacon and cheddar burgers and a kids burger for the smallest boy. The wife decided to sit this one out - regretting her decision upon taking a bite from our oldest. Holy moly! Quality beef - smashed and grilled to perfection. Real hardwood bacon that was crispy - not limp. And real cheddar cheese on a wonderful bun - possibly brioch - but toasted to perfection. And thats it. No special sauce. No add ins. No fillers. You know right away how good a burger is when the simple ingredients steeped in quality can stand on its own with ketchup or mustard. The kid burger was just as simple and just as good that my youngest polished it off without hesitation. I highly reccomend going here - not much more expensive than a lesser chain. Did I mention they have a Wagyu burger as well? I can confidently say you will not regret treating yourself here on your death. Rather, you will rue never having gone here when death comes for you. We stopped by burger Fi on a Saturday for lunch, around 12:30 because we saw that they had a white cheddar Mac and cheese burger. Gotta try that, I am a Mac and cheese connoisseur. Anyways, we beat the lunch rush so we didn't have to wait long to order or to get our food. The Mac and cheese has big elbow noodles and creamy cheese. There was also some onion or something that gave it a bit of spice. What surprised me was they had fried the Mac and cheese so it was in a pillowy crunch. I did not like that the burger had two patties, was a bit overkill. Also they had American cheese which I love on burgers but I think if they had a white cheddar slice it would have complimented it more nicely. Overall it was a good burger. There was nothing else on the burger like sauce or any other topping. We also got the ghost pepper honey chicken sandwich. They had sliced ghost peppers and the chicken was crispy. We shared a regular size fries as well and there was plenty. $8 something for each burger and fries were about $5. If you don't have the app download it before you go and I think you get free fries. The mocha shake was very good, the onion rings as well. We ordered a fries truffle style (I think) and they were so good. Food was good, but what made the visit for me was how the staff treated everyone. The guy in front of me looked homeless or had definitely fallen on rough times. I always start-out my reviews with 5 stars because I believe that small business is the most noble human enterprise. First and foremost, small businesses give people livelihoods. They also deliver goods and services that consumers need. Starting with 5 stars, I then add or subtract as needed. Today (10/21/22, noon) was my first time patronizing a BurgerFi. Their business model (as far as ordering and food delivery is concerned) is similar to a McDonald's. The customer stands in line, orders and pays - then comes and gets his order when his name is called. The only problem is the BurgerFi computer system prioritizes giving a "tip" when paying (it's not easy to "opt-out"). Personally, if I am doing all the work (standing in line, ordering and paying from a counter, picking my food up from a counter when my name is called, serving my own drink from a machine, getting condiments & plastic utensils from a condiment table, and then BUSSING my my own table when finished - a tip is not in order. MINUS 2 stars for making it a little more difficult to "opt-out" of paying a tip. I ordered a "Jucy-Lucy" hamburger and fries. The food was above average. PLUS one star. When I noticed I had been charged $2.10 for a tip I did not authorize, I went and asked the counterwoman for the manager. She told me she was the manager. I explained that I had not intended to give a tip. She "scolded" me that there was a clearly-marked option to "opt-out" of giving a tip. Because it was my first time there, and because I was not wearing my reading glasses at the time, I apologized. She AGAIN "scolded" me and said: "I will give you your $2.30 back in cash".
