This play was excellent! I had something with their reindeer sausage. It was my 1st time eating reindeer and it did not disappoint.

TCT Halibut & chips

We went to TCT on the high recommendation of, and joined by, our daughter and her husband. The establishment is across from the Anchorage Museum and is part of the Anchorage Mall. It features a blend of barstool window seats, barstool bar seats, high-top tables, and standard-height tables. We went for a very late lunch, which made the quick food delivery and yet under-attentive service a little perplexing. Having spent last summer in London, the attraction at TCT for us was comparing and contrasting Alaska Halibut Fish & Chips with the British fare. I wanted to like the Tent City offering; I really did not. For the price ($28/ea), we got three modest pieces of fish and the equivalent of two servings of chips. Both the fish and the chips were mushy (undercooked), with a heavy batter finish in contrast with the light and crisp British offering. The accompanying tarter sauce was an odd raspberry-and-blackberry concoction that my family and I called a pickle aftertaste. The presentation, for the price and the atmosphere, was a confusing combination of a metal basket lined with wax paper (like a 1950's drive-through), plastic water and soda glasses (like a college cafeteria), and real silverware. Other reviews have high praise for TCT so, on our next visit to Alaska, it will be good to give them another try. The bones of this establishment are in place for a really special experience, but, today, for me, it was just "ok."

I was in Anchorage before taking a cruise. We found this place on Yelp and ordered through UberEats. The food came very quickly. We had our order 23 minutes after it was placed. Everything was hot and correct! I had the award winning chowder and it was very tasty. I also got wings and a side salad. The wings were crispy and tasty but there was suppose to be dry rub on the wings and they just tasted like plain fried chicken wings. My husband ordered the cheesesteak and he was happy so overall we would recommend especially for delivery.

Keep coming and trying new things, I have been impressed! The staff here is super friendly and they know about the brand, the hearty list of beers they have, and the food. I finally got to try the Kase spatzel! I would definitely get it again but I would need to share. Towards the end it gets pretty rich. The beer selection is one of the best, all local beers. They don't have some from every brewery though. Burgers and cheesesteak are good, the crispy pork belly was good, kase spatzel, they have different flavored fries too.

Happy to come again! I am honestly just very impressed with everything each time. Came last night for dinner and had an amazing time. We haven't had a bad meal here yet. The prices for food are honestly pretty reasonable considering you're paying the downtown premium but you're getting high-quality food. I know it's not called mac & cheese but it's gone well it looks like it and tastes delicious The burgers are fantastic. Their duck fat fries are delicious. The server we had was fantastic and took care of us. He had some great recommendations and did an amazing job keeping up on us. Place was clean and well kept it was a little quiet last night but we were happy to have a place that's actually open on a Monday night seems to be a rare thing nowadays in Anchorage.

If this is the only meal you have time for in Anchorage make sure this is the place you stop at. Off of the main strip in Downtown, but if you're looking a a hearty and filling meal look no further. The short rib poutine was amazing the tenderness of the short rib and the savory gravy with the duck fat fries make you keep reaching for more. So throw a dart at the menu, you can't go wrong just look at all the food in the pictures. Beautifully presented with great flavor. The ambiance is a modern rustic feel to it. And the service is warm and inviting. Grabbing a beer and some food from here rejuvenated us after multiple traveling days.

This restaurant is suffering from an identity crisis - you just don't know what you're getting, everything from the aesthetic to the food offerings. Is it a traditional tap house? Is it Asian fusion? or standard pub fare? There were 9 of us and while we were sat pretty quickly as we had reservations, it took a while to order. We ordered the poutine as a starter. It never came out - our entrees were served. I had inquired about the poutine and she said someone forgot it. Then several minutes later she came out with the poutine, which had been sitting under the warmer and said it someone did make it if we wanted it. This was after everyone had already eaten half of their dinner. I said NO as it was almost likely luke warm by now. You'd think she just would've served it and comped it since it was her mistake. I ordered the steak salad and the portion and flavor were good. The charred whole green onions are a messy plating - I'd remove that. The risotto was a bit too rich for my daughter's taste. The burgers and fries were probably the best entree that came out to the table (which several people ordered). The truffle fries were delicious but the garlic fries were a let down. We ordered one of each dessert and were hoping this would redeem the meal experience. Fell flat again - I swear two of the cakes were the same but with a different topping. The creme brûlée was under and gritty. Meal and staff were just ok.

While in downtown Anchorage for a day, I was told that I should check this place out. We went for a late lunch/early dinner. The inside seating is limited. We did get to sit at the bar. It wasn't too busy so we were seated right away. The bartender was excellent. She grabbed menus for us right away and took our drink order as soon as we were ready. I decided on the fish and chips. You do get to choose your fries. I had the Parmesan truffle which were delicious. The fish is halibut. It had a good batter and it is not too thick. They do not have regular tartar sauce. They have a raspberry tartar sauce. I was not a big fan of it. It does come with coleslaw, but it is probably like 2 tablespoons of coleslaw. I did not try their beers. I had a glass of Pinot Grigio Instead. The menu is has a little bit of everything. They also have off menu specials. I did ask about the crab legs and they were about $100 for the pound. They have inside and outside seating. This restaurant is located downtown, so you will probably have to pay for parking. On weekdays after a certain time, the meters are free.

We stopped here as part of a food tour and really enjoyed the atmosphere and the beer. The story of the history of the taphouse was very interesting. Our server was great. We had a tasting flight for the beer and liked it all.

Halibut Alaskana

Definitely highlight of my food experiences in Alaska. Location is decent sized and is located on the outskirts of the mall downtown. There is ample seating and bar seating. There are both brews and wines for drinking, and flight options for those wanting to try multiple. Service was good- the waitress was helpful in making decisions regarding food and beer based on flavor profile. The Halibut Alaskana was excellent. It was incredibly flavorful and had a number of the ingredients that I typically like- fresh veggies, cheese, garlic (lots) and a flavorful fish. I kept scarfing it down and was so incredibly full and satisfied. Beware for garlic breath post-meal Loved this spot, and wish I could bring my wife here to try this fish!!

This place was fine. Decent beer, atmosphere, and service. Being kind of a brewery afficionado, I'd say it was good but not great.

I was really excited to hear about the opening of The Rail and couldn't wait to check it out. The indoor seating was smaller than I expected, but the interior design is even nicer than the restaurant and has a very relaxing feel. As for the beer, I have no complaints at all. Their beer is still some of my favorite to this day. I honestly wish they could somehow sell it in other states so I could grab some whenever I feel homesick. I also feel like this space has a lot of potential for small gatherings, farmers markets, block parties, or even little concerts. We'll see what they do with it over time. Overall, I'm so glad to see this business continue to thrive throughout the years.

They have two apps, some sweet treats and some sandwiches made on flatbread. We got the sandwich with fried tofu and it was just ok. The soft pretzel was pretty good, the cheese just ok. Don't remember if it's the same pretzel as the other 49th restaurant or not. The beer list is expansive, with beers 49th state brewing is testing out, no beers from other breweries. They have a QR code to scan to see the list and they project it on the wall. We got flights to try different beers. They had a few chocolate and coffee stouts. I tried the Mexican stout and it did not have any hint of cinnamon in it like was described. Also tried the apple cider donut beer. The more I drank it the more overly sweet it was. Happy to try different beers and we enjoyed the atmosphere. The guy working, I think his name was Richard. He was great taking care of everyone and being the only one to hold down the entire room. Great place if you want to try some beers and dont want to deal with the hustle and bustle of 49th state brewing up the road.

Be prepared that it still takes a while to get your food after you order. We shared a large pizza that was half Call of the Wild and half Amazing Apricot Pizza. There is an upcharge to do half and half which is a little annoying, but I'm glad they let you do it so that you can try more. The Amazing Apricot was my favorite. It was an interesting combination of flavors. Despite the name, it wasn't overly sweet and the chicken was delicious. The Call of the Wild was also good, but I wanted it to be a little saucier. We were both happy that we had enough for leftovers the next day. Next time, I'd probably coordinate a takeout order to be ready when I want it to cut down on the wait. They have so many unique pizzas that I think this is a must try while in Anchorage.
