Halibut and Chips- Not Worth $30

I came here solo waiting for my party to land, and to begin no acknowledgment and then ignored me for the rest of my dining. They threw my water away when I went to use the restroom. Staff stood in the corner talking and laughing amongst themselves then, they would come my way, while I'm waiving my glass for a refill, they overlook n turn to a table that didn't need assistance, I thought I was being pranked. Overpriced food, and no regular tartar sauce, only blueberry so be prepared for that. Rip off, not worth it.

    TCT Halibut & chips

We went to TCT on the high recommendation of, and joined by, our daughter and her husband. The establishment is across from the Anchorage Museum and is part of the Anchorage Mall. It features a blend of barstool window seats, barstool bar seats, high-top tables, and standard-height tables. We went for a very late lunch, which made the quick food delivery and yet under-attentive service a little perplexing. Having spent last summer in London, the attraction at TCT for us was comparing and contrasting Alaska Halibut Fish & Chips with the British fare. I wanted to like the Tent City offering; I really did not. For the price ($28/ea), we got three modest pieces of fish and the equivalent of two servings of chips. Both the fish and the chips were mushy (undercooked), with a heavy batter finish in contrast with the light and crisp British offering. The accompanying tarter sauce was an odd raspberry-and-blackberry concoction that my family and I called a pickle aftertaste. The presentation, for the price and the atmosphere, was a confusing combination of a metal basket lined with wax paper (like a 1950's drive-through), plastic water and soda glasses (like a college cafeteria), and real silverware. Other reviews have high praise for TCT so, on our next visit to Alaska, it will be good to give them another try. The bones of this establishment are in place for a really special experience, but, today, for me, it was just "ok."

Keep coming and trying new things, I have been impressed! The staff here is super friendly and they know about the brand, the hearty list of beers they have, and the food. I finally got to try the Kase spatzel! I would definitely get it again but I would need to share. Towards the end it gets pretty rich. The beer selection is one of the best, all local beers. They don't have some from every brewery though. Burgers and cheesesteak are good, the crispy pork belly was good, kase spatzel, they have different flavored fries too.

Happy to come again! I am honestly just very impressed with everything each time. Came last night for dinner and had an amazing time. We haven't had a bad meal here yet. The prices for food are honestly pretty reasonable considering you're paying the downtown premium but you're getting high-quality food. I know it's not called mac & cheese but it's gone well it looks like it and tastes delicious The burgers are fantastic. Their duck fat fries are delicious. The server we had was fantastic and took care of us. He had some great recommendations and did an amazing job keeping up on us. Place was clean and well kept it was a little quiet last night but we were happy to have a place that's actually open on a Monday night seems to be a rare thing nowadays in Anchorage.

This time here, I'm a bit disappointed. We were running errands in Palmer, Eagle River and Downtown and the night before we said we'll pick up a ToGo from them after the errand in Eagle River we'll call it in. The phone system is down. So we'll order online since no one picked up their online order system wouldn't take a payment. Okay WTF!? I'll just walk in after the last errand downtown, it was busy they don't know why their phone systems was down or online order system either. I got a beer at the bar and gave the bartender my order. So I knew I was going to wait, hence wanting to order 20 mins ahead by phone duh! Sleeping Lady salad had no beets that's my wife's favorite part, the Halibut & Chips were okay one piece was fried pretty dark. The Nashville wings were good. The wait was long, 3 pints of Raspberry Wheat later they were finally putting the ToGo together. Get your online order and phone systems working again please! Sheesh!

If this is the only meal you have time for in Anchorage make sure this is the place you stop at. Off of the main strip in Downtown, but if you're looking a a hearty and filling meal look no further. The short rib poutine was amazing the tenderness of the short rib and the savory gravy with the duck fat fries make you keep reaching for more. So throw a dart at the menu, you can't go wrong just look at all the food in the pictures. Beautifully presented with great flavor. The ambiance is a modern rustic feel to it. And the service is warm and inviting. Grabbing a beer and some food from here rejuvenated us after multiple traveling days.

This restaurant is suffering from an identity crisis - you just don't know what you're getting, everything from the aesthetic to the food offerings. Is it a traditional tap house? Is it Asian fusion? or standard pub fare? There were 9 of us and while we were sat pretty quickly as we had reservations, it took a while to order. We ordered the poutine as a starter. It never came out - our entrees were served. I had inquired about the poutine and she said someone forgot it. Then several minutes later she came out with the poutine, which had been sitting under the warmer and said it someone did make it if we wanted it. This was after everyone had already eaten half of their dinner. I said NO as it was almost likely luke warm by now. You'd think she just would've served it and comped it since it was her mistake. I ordered the steak salad and the portion and flavor were good. The charred whole green onions are a messy plating - I'd remove that. The risotto was a bit too rich for my daughter's taste. The burgers and fries were probably the best entree that came out to the table (which several people ordered). The truffle fries were delicious but the garlic fries were a let down. We ordered one of each dessert and were hoping this would redeem the meal experience. Fell flat again - I swear two of the cakes were the same but with a different topping. The creme brûlée was under and gritty. Meal and staff were just ok.

I was in Anchorage before taking a cruise. We found this place on Yelp and ordered through UberEats. The food came very quickly. We had our order 23 minutes after it was placed. Everything was hot and correct! I had the award winning chowder and it was very tasty. I also got wings and a side salad. The wings were crispy and tasty but there was suppose to be dry rub on the wings and they just tasted like plain fried chicken wings. My husband ordered the cheesesteak and he was happy so overall we would recommend especially for delivery.

While in downtown Anchorage for a day, I was told that I should check this place out. We went for a late lunch/early dinner. The inside seating is limited. We did get to sit at the bar. It wasn't too busy so we were seated right away. The bartender was excellent. She grabbed menus for us right away and took our drink order as soon as we were ready. I decided on the fish and chips. You do get to choose your fries. I had the Parmesan truffle which were delicious. The fish is halibut. It had a good batter and it is not too thick. They do not have regular tartar sauce. They have a raspberry tartar sauce. I was not a big fan of it. It does come with coleslaw, but it is probably like 2 tablespoons of coleslaw. I did not try their beers. I had a glass of Pinot Grigio Instead. The menu is has a little bit of everything. They also have off menu specials. I did ask about the crab legs and they were about $100 for the pound. They have inside and outside seating. This restaurant is located downtown, so you will probably have to pay for parking. On weekdays after a certain time, the meters are free.

This play was excellent! I had something with their reindeer sausage. It was my 1st time eating reindeer and it did not disappoint.

I was really excited to hear about the opening of The Rail and couldn't wait to check it out. The indoor seating was smaller than I expected, but the interior design is even nicer than the restaurant and has a very relaxing feel. As for the beer, I have no complaints at all. Their beer is still some of my favorite to this day. I honestly wish they could somehow sell it in other states so I could grab some whenever I feel homesick. I also feel like this space has a lot of potential for small gatherings, farmers markets, block parties, or even little concerts. We'll see what they do with it over time. Overall, I'm so glad to see this business continue to thrive throughout the years.

Don't leave any open tabs, and don't bother with the dark haired, short male bartender. Walked in from a truck on the coastal trail needing water, when I asked for it, he directs me to the two almost empty containers of self serve water on the counter, that also tasted like plastic, probably because they never get changed out. I left my tab open thinking I might get a second drink, but after finishing my (admittedly delicious cider) I wanted to go. I left without shutting my tab down due to a long line at the counter, leaving cash on the counter, which I made sure to get acknowledgement from him, before leaving. Well thinking about it more made me want to confirm i wasn't charged extra, so I just checked my statement, and money was added to the charge as tip. I'll definitely be going back soon, but not for food or drinks this time. Literally everything else about the place was nice, i just want to give that bartender a piece of my mind.

Hey there friends! We had an amazing dinner at the Glacier Brew house. Before I start, I will say…read morethat it didn't start off on the right foot due to some issues with the people at the front reception. Besides this, everything else was great so I did not deduct any stars. Let me explain. We were a party of 4 and just arriving from NY, we were hungry. We walked in at about 4:30-4:45. We asked for a table for 4. We were told the wait will be over an hour. They asked if we would like to sit at the bar area, same food and probably would get service quicker. I said sure. We both want to look for a table and there were none, so I just told the staff that we will go to the bar area and wait while having a drink. We were given a buzzer. We came across a Maria bar table with a nice couple sitting there, and 2 open seats. I asked if we could sit there and they said of course. They then Deb moved over 2 seats arguing gave us 4 seats. I was do thankful for them being so nice that I picked up their bar tab. I noticed that the dining area has at least 5 open tables for 4 and 1 for 6+. I went up to the desk and told them this. I was told they were fit reservations and I couldn't have a table. Long story short, 45 min went guy and there were still open tables, I E's not happy and let them know. By this time though, our waiter Marco cans over to us and said he would take care of us, which he did. I told the front desk to forget our table and have them the buzzer back. ** My review starts*** Marco was a great waiter taking excellent care of us. We had a great time with Marco and our new friends next to us. I ordered the halibut stuffed with crab which was outstanding. My wife ordered the salmon which was delicious as well, I particularly enjoyed the crispy skin of the salmon, yum!!! Our friends ordered the fried calamari which he enjoyed and his wife had the salmon over a Ceaser salad. To finish it off, I had to get the lava cake for dessert.....hey, why not, I'm in vacation lol! Everything was great, the food delicious, Super Marco s the best!!! Great service and a great time. Just a shame it didn't start off on the right foot. Lesson: make a reservation!!!!!
