Today, I went to lunch at Tommy's near the TCU campus. This little gem is nestled in a shopping center which is almost unexpected as it's all business around it. However, when you walk in you know you discovered something great. The staff is very friendly, greeted us right away and let us choose our table. Our server came and got our drink order and then returned to take our food order. We had frog fries as a starter and they were amazing! They were is delicious and full of flavor. I had the mushroom Swiss burger, which was really good. I did ask for it come without pickles, yet it still had some but they were easy to take out. The Star of the burger, however, was the meat itself. It was thick and juicy but not messy- which I like! All in all it was very good. Hands down, the best burger in town (so far). I order the quarter pound burger with tots and my Husband orders the half pound burger with onion rings and a cold tap beer. I have been going to Tommy's Hamburgers for years, I've been going recently at least once, sometimes twice a month. I have never been treated with so much disrespect as I was today. I normally call in my order, today I called in to pick up a order, in which I was told it would be ready in 10 minutes. I arrived within 10 minutes so I decided to eat there because I believed I had enough time to eat and get back to my office on time. I paid, and tipped the server before I received my order. After waiting another 15 minutes, a man behind me that came in 5 to 7 minutes after me receives his fish order before I did (and yes he ordered when he came in). At this point I was frustrated and had little time to eat. I asked for a return and was told I couldn't get one unless a manager was there. Another waitress came out with my order incorrect and said it would just be a minute. The server I was speaking to about the refund (who has the same spandex workout outfit every time I've seen her), started being really nasty, saying your order is almost ready, they are just waiting on the sides. I said I've waited now for over 20 minutes and you serve someone that came in after me, ordered the same thing I ordered when he came in. As this man was leaving out after he inhaled his food down in 3 minutes, he turned to me and called me a bitch. I will never go back to Tommy's again. Me and my friends have patronized this restaurant (every location) for years. I've already shared with my circle what happened and I'm elated they agree they will never go there again. Business owners, please stop allowing your employees to disrespect your patrons who spend money in your establishments, we can STOP and it will EFFECT you, believe it or not. Happy Trails Seniors, My girl and i went to Tommy's for a burger on a Friday night. One waitress had whole room and she worked her butt off serving but made for slow night. I'd been coming to Tommy's for many years and well it's just not what it used to be. Maybe the cook was off one night. i don't know. i ordered at burger and no bun. My hamburger almost came out as a salad with no dressings, so a long wait ended for the return of the waitress. I'm sure it was just that day off. What a phenomenal evening my wife and I spent at Tommy's the other evening. Through word of mouth, I ad heard Tommy's Homemade Chicken Salad was incredible. My wife who is VERY picky about her chicken salad reluctantly agreed to give it a try. I already knew what I was getting, the fried catfish dinner. I've never met a catfish I didn't like. Smiles. I've had Tommy's catfish in the past and is was fried to perfection add those home cut fries and you've got a dinner made in heaven. Back to our dinners. My wife did order the chicken salad sandwich and I ordered the fried catfish dinner. When the sandwich, accompanied with fries came, I knew this was going to be "the moment," either I was going to get a smile or some other expression. She gave me a BIG smile. She said it was some of the best chicken salad she's ever had. She did have one suggestion, cut the chicken into smaller chunks. Other than that, there wasn't a morsel left in her basket. And there were no complaints about the catfish either. It was fried to perfection and the homemade tartar sauce was great. Our server checked on us and asked how everything was. We said GREAT! First time going to this establishment and I must say it was amazing! Unfortunately forgot to take pictures as we are right when we got it we were that hungry! We were greeted right as we entered and sat ourselves. The hostess was attentive and very helpful with navigating the menu and answering questions with the items! We ended up going with a grilled cheese for the little one and my fiancé and I got the junkyard burger for her and the bacon and Brie burger for myself. Food came out hot and fresh! The bacon and Brie burger was phenomenal with the bacon being the perfect contrast to the creamy cheese! The saltiness was on point! The frog fries were great and the ranch was spot on! The fries you can tell are fresh cut and I should have asked if they could have been a bit more crispier to my liking but I digress I had no issues. I took a bite of the junkyard and it had so much going on but was delicious! The place had a feel of an old diner and very local sports teams were decorating the walls. Since Tommy's is in a strip mall, it's not really a hole in the wall, but it should be! The food is great! The club sandwich was huge, and the fries looked like a triple order. While I waited, I told the girls behind the bar what Glenda was going through. They were so nice, they gave me free dessert! What sweethearts! Came here for lunch on a Thursday about noon. I was greeted with a smile immediately upon entry. She said I could sit anywhere. They have quite a few tables/booths inside, as well as, tables outside in the patio. There were several people at tables once I came inside. I ordered the bacon cheddar burger with fries. The burger was VERY good...it had great flavor and was cooked perfectly. The fries were not as crispy as I like them, but that is a personal preference. Stopped in to this small but fantastic burger place earlier today. We were in the area and hunger struck before noon, so why not? The place is near TCU and has all the trappings one might expect. Helmets, meorabilia, and sorts of TCU ephenora cover the walls as well as what I can only call "burger art". Love it. We got our orders put in very quickly and had a lovely server helping us. She was friendly, attentive, and fun to chat with. Also very efficient as our drinks and food was ordered & prepared quickly and exactly to order. I tried the Bacon Cheddar burger. It was delightful. Burgers are my favorite item and this one didnt disappoint. They use patties made of Nolan Ryan beef, which was juicy, tasty, and perfectly cooked. My kid got a basic cheddar burger and reported enjoying it just as much as I enjoyed mine. Fries were tasty. Cut with the skins left on the potato. I think they call that "homestyle"? I dunno. They were tasty. Next time I'll be trying the onion rings, and there will definitely be a next time. I really enjoyed our trip to Tommy's and will happily return as soon as the opportunity presents itself. And I suggest you try them too if you're in the area. Tommy's Hamburgers service is slow, but it's worth the wait! Their burgers are not greasy, and the mushrooms are fresh and piping hot. This is the best burger I've ever had, and for sure, it's better than Red Robin's and Burger Street. If it's your first time, the "Junkyard" burger is the go-to. read more

Tommy's Hamburgers do have plenty of burger combination to choose from I like the mushroom burger or the bacon burger. Good size half pound meat fresh and hot cook just right. The burger comes with fries or chips. I love the chips or maybe it is the ranch dressing I dip the chips into. Either way the chips are good.
