A really solid choice for a burger joint. The most important part (the burger) was fantastic. It's a classic diner style flattop burger. While it's not my favorite style of burger, they did it as good here as it can be done. Cooked great, good quality beef. Juicy enough that it threatened to fall apart at the end, but built well enough it didn't. Where they really dropped the ball was the fries. They were borderline bad. Floppy and soggy. That alone would have taken them down a notch for me, but the service and overall vibe of the staff sort of saved it. Usually eat at their location on Forest Park, but was in the area and wanted to try them out. My friend and I ate here for a late lunch, and the food was as good as I expected from a Tommy's Hamburgers. Seems like the seating area was a little smaller than the other location, but we easily found a secluded table away from the other patrons. Service was prompt and professional. My wife and I were out running around taking care of last minute errands in the cultural district and it was time for dinner. We decided we didn't want anything fancy saw Tommy's coming up on the right side of us and it fit the bill perfectly. We LOVE Tommy's and my wife especially loves their chicken salad sandwiches on wheat. After looking at their menu, my wife, of course opted for the chicken salad sandwich on wheat and I settled on their catfish dinner. Both of our entrees were accompanied with Tommy's house cut French fries. Both of our entrees were awesome along with the attentive service by our server. My wife LOVED her sandwich and I've never met a catfish I didn't like. To say the least, there was nothing left on either of our plates. We left Tommy's with VERY happy tummies. I discovered Tommy's about 10 years ago, but haven't gotten back in quite some time, but one visit reminded me why I've always considered this one of the best burgers in the Metroplex! Every great burger has to start with a great beef patty, and that's Tommy's strength! A thick, we'll grilled, well-seasoned 1/2 pound patty is what this burger is all about. On my recent visit, I went with the Jalapeno Cheddar Burger - hold the Tomato, and it was popping with flavor. That said, I think the best way to have this burger may be the traditional, old-school, mustard-onion-pickle and go no further. That way you can best appreciate the star of the show that's underneath it all. Still, there are plenty of good dressed-up burgers, if that's to your liking. My top recommendations along with the Jalapeno Cheddar are the Blue Angel (blue cheese and bacon) and the Green Chili Goat Cheese, and there's also Catfish and the Bunless Burger Salad for those that are vegetarian or gluten-free. The Fries are a good compliment, but not outdone by equally tasty Onion Rings. If you want to kick-it-up, go for the Frog Fries, which are Fries covered in Cheese and Grilled Onions and Jalapeno. They also offer Tater Tots, Fried Okra, Corn Nuggets, Fried Zucchini and Cheddar Poppers both as an appetizer, or side (some for an upcharge). This is just a brief review. I just went there to use the restroom on my way to another place where I have a scheduled job interview. I had just gotten off the bus. It's raining, windy and overcast. And, so, I just definitely needed to use the restroom to freshen up. But, most importantly, to pee. When I walked in there, the lady working behind the counter looked at me without smiling. I smiled and asked if they had a restroom. She asked me if I was going to eat there. I said "no." She said I'd have to eat there if I am going to use the restroom. Then, before I could reply, she said they don't have a restroom open to the public, but that I can use it. And that it's up to me. She could have just said "no." I've worked at restaurants, so I understand. My feelings would have been hurt or something like that, but I understand restaurant restroom policies. But it's her saying that I could use it as well after at first saying "no." It's the inconsistency of the matter. Had she said "no," maybe I would have been back to eat (spending money) or not. But now I don't know if I will. The saying "yes" after saying "no" made it a situation where I don't know if I would want to spend money at that restaurant. And it's a restaurant---a business; It's for profit. That's not a way to sell a business to a new costumer. Just putting it out there. Let's say I am to be hired at the place where I am going to be interviewed. I love hamburgers. The place I am interviewing at doesn't serve hamburgers. Came here about a week ago and finally are posting. I haven't been to this place in a long time. Couldnt remember if it was sit yourself, order at the counter, or wait to be seated. Its self seating. It would have been nice to see a sign saying that so I didn't stand there looking confused. Went and sat in a booth. The lady that was our server could have been a litter nicer. Would have given this 5 stars if she would have been a little nicer. Got there corn nuggets with ranch. They were really good. I highly recommend them. Also got there junkyard burger. I know this place seems to get rave reviews, but I didn't think it was overly special. Burger was good, not outstanding, and the cheese tots were fine. Solid fare and worth checking out because they have a lot of different burger options. Service was a bit lacking. Our server was busy doing something and we waited for her to come around and check on us and get drink refills. During that time the server for the table next to us chatted for 10-15 minutes with two guests and got them refills twice. It wasn't busy, maybe 6-7 people total in the place. After a while it just became an experiment to see if we would even get a refill. We eventually did get a refill, as we were getting our check to leave, so at least we did get a refill. Usually service staff will help each other out and notice things like drink refills and such, but that wasn't the case for our visit. Maybe we just hit them on a bad day. read more

Pops loved his burger, mine though, was not so great. This burger joint is the first places Pops and I have debated whether or not to review this place as good. At a glance, the burgers are sized greatly for their price. The bun is toasted a little well, which made it crisp and nice to hold. Pops had a regular cheeseburger, yet I had a Junkyard burger. I could not wait to sink my teeth into the burger. But when I did, everything went wrong. The meat tasted funky and I barely could get through eating half of it. Maybe it was some sort of sauce in the burger, or possibly the burger was not prepared correctly. Whatever the case was, I did not have a pleasant time eating it. What really saved this place from having a lower rating is not just Pops rating, as he gave it a 4 (I give it a 2, took the average as 3), but the sides this place offered was delicious. There was enough crispy and well seasoned fries for both of us, and the amount of onion rings given was astonishing. They were delicious and really saved the experience eating here. The atmosphere was a bit too dark for my taste and needed some light. That's more so a preference, but also a suggestion. The place was kept clean and the staff was also welcoming. Although I did not have the greatest experience here, Pops certainly did. Perhaps next time I will try a different burger or just come here for the sides.
