Tommy's a clean and relaxed neighborhood establishment with a strong front of house. Homemade lemonade, prime. Coleslaw, very tasty. Now for the critique, and let me preface this by saying I'd much rather be speaking in favor of a small business. The food ranged from mediocre to awful. Honestly, Gordon Ramsay needs to save this restaurant. As an American style restaurant, a Philly cheesesteak should be a bread and butter lunch-time staple but, for the love of the pursuit of happiness, PLEASE remove this item from your menu. The meat was dry shredded brisket (maybe), on a tasteless hoagie with a thin layer of butter. For $16.99, and a 10-15 minute wait, can Tommy's at least try to meet or exceed the quality of a Philly cheesesteaks served at fast food joints in malls across the country? I was upset my girlfriend suffered through 1/4 of the sandwich instead of sending it back. Absolute disgrace. If you don't want to produce a good quality sandwich, why put your customers through it? The fries that came with the sandwich were passable. The JackMac was also passable but not like a restaurant quality dish, more like a slightly more fancy version of a meal you'd make at home if you were feeling lazy. If you're in the mood for a heavy creamy macaroni dish blended with chopped chicken strips and spare no sodium, this is the one for you. read more

Came in looking for nothing in particular and we found an Americana diner. They have a patio but it was raining so no go there. My friend said they have a better cook in the morning than the day, I wished he would've told me before we went in for dinner. I hope that's true. The staff is helpful, warm and friendly, you can't ask for any more than that. Everything was going well up until we ordered our dinner. It seemed to take exceedingly long to receive our food - it came out hot though so that was encouraging. My friends chili fries tasted okay but it was enhanced by some Cholula on top. He did say the fries weren't fresh and I can confirm that. I ordered a Montecristo sandwich with a Mac n cheese side. The sandwich was made but didn't seem to have much if any batter on it to be deep fried. It did however have an overabundance of oil in it. I think it was pan fried as the meat was hanging out of it slightly but wasn't fried. He cheese was good, the ham was good but the turkey breast was cut too thick to be enjoyable. The raspberry sauce was tart and sweet - tasty. The Mac n cheese tasted like it was left under the hot lamp too long. It was a little crusty on top, it was dried and slightly coagulated, so not a pleasant experience. I would agree the better cook must work during the day, if I come back, it'll be during breakfast hours. The cookies are solid - I bought some peanut butter chocolate chip (2nd best), oatmeal raisin, snickerdoodle, sugar and chocolate pudding (best one) - good stuff. Overall a poor experience, the food wasn't good and while hot, it still came out slow. Full disclosure, we came in at 6:30 and they close at 8, so maybe they weren't going to make anything fresh, I don't know. But if you go, go for breakfast and their pastries. read more

Went here on Monday, Tenderloin and fries. First of all the fries were horrible, blonde, raw, and overly peppered! First of all, who peppers French fries, second, they looked as white as could be, tasted like a raw potato that was soft. The tenderloin, I'm not sure how to even explain it except it was paper thin, oil was too hot because the outside was burnt and inside (what little there was) was under done. Tommy's has been a staple for breakfast for my husband and I for several years. It usually takes no time to get a table. Their omelets are delicious. You usually have a choice between pancakes or toast depending on what you order. The pancakes are nice and fluffy, not paper thin. I'd go with the pancakes. For the price of the buffet, the food was sub-par. The kids were not given crayons with their kids menu/coloring page, which was disappointing to them. This is the second time I have been here.. first time was okay- kind of forgettable. The most recent time I ordered a shipwreck and can honestly say it was one of the worst looking and tasting meals I have had since I moved to CR. The "home fries" looked like they were leftover baked potatoes cut up from the night before. The entire dish just looked dry.. hardly any eggs and just overall unappealing. To further ruin the appeal, it had two slices of cheese melted on top. I asked the waitress for cheese sauce just to add some moisture to the plate. I have been avoiding this restaurant because of their lack of service. If the wait staff know you personally they will hang by your table and ignore the rest of their tables until you are ready for the bill. I gave them another chance and even though it was almost all new wait staff, the lack of service has not changed. We were not brought any drink refills during our 45 minute stay, or even checked on in that time. We were having the weekend breakfast buffet and it was not very busy for the number of servers. This is place from the out side looks like a little hole in the wall eatery. Once you are inside it is a whole different story. The hostess was very nice and to my surprise had a little southern flair about her. Saying y'all and asking my brother and myself what kind of soda we would like. (Keeping in mind we are in the heart of the Midwest and not down south) the food was great and I cleaned my plate in record time. I started off with a chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes with brown gravy and a side of applesauce. My brother had the same but with sausage gravy instead. The chicken fried steak had a breading that was full of flavor and did not get soggy with the gravy. The mashed potatoes were actually whipped and not mashed making them smooth and not chunked. The brown gravy was not to salty covering everything. For desert I had pecan pie a la mode. The pie heated to just the right temperature causing the vanilla ice cream to drizzle slowly over the sweet gooey goodness of the pecan pie. I was in this weekend and I had sub par food at best sent my parties food back twice once because of undercooked meat and then the other time the food was so rubbery I could throw it against the way and it would bounce. The so called chef I believe his name was Dennis came out and demanded what was wrong with his food and I explained to him about his food he replied I am the chef and if you don't like the food you don't have to eat here. The bacon was paper-thin and flavorless, the pancakes were hard (almost crunchy) and there was no syrup. The biscuits were hard (crunchy) and the gravy was bland. My wife and I ordered off the menu and my "3 meat shipwreck" had about 3 total pieces of meat about the size of a pencil eraser.
