Another Tommy's added to my rotation! Wahoo! My family frequents the one in Edgewater all the time - as that is our home base, I will be comparing the experiences of both restaurants. This Tommy's is very new, and I think they are still working the kinks out of the formula. First and foremost, this place is small compared to other Tommy's I've been too. I am actually surprised they chose this specific building for the restaurant because it is a fraction of the size compared to all the other Tommy's I've experienced. This is not the fault of the workers, of course, but it is something to be mentioned. Apparently the word is out that this place is good because it was positively slammed when we went, and we never usually wait when we go to the Tommy's in Edgewater. As for the menu - it's the same, albeit the specials were unavailable which confused me. In any event, each member of my family has their 'usual' - for me, it's the Southwest Turkey Burger with sweet potato tots. While the food came out quick enough, mine was actually cold, but I didn't say too much about it. I was in a rush, so I didn't want to complicate things for the clearly oversaturated kitchen. Our server's name was Mimi (which is what my nieces call me, so easy to remember), and she was cool as hell and extremely accommodating. The manager on duty came over as well (Eric, I think his name was) and he was a sweetheart. When you eat at a Tommy's, the manager always makes a point to come over and check in with you, which I love. Overall, I was pleased with the experience and will definitely go back and give this Tommy's another shot - hopefully when the excitement settles and the restaurant is less burdened by a huge crowd! read more

Food Dumplings were just like the ones I buy at stores freezer section. Nachos. With chili. The chili was runny without much flavor. Ambiance. The music was entirely too loud. Could not have conversation. read more

This Tommy's location opened about two weeks ago in Tom's River. I've been to other locations so I was happy one was opening in our own town. We visited after work around 5:30 so it was packed. We sat at the bar until our table was ready. This location used to be Fridays so the place is definitely a big change to fit in the Tommy's Tavern family. The sangria was strong and delicious. My pie was good as well but I thought the nachos were lacking cheese and flavor on the mountain of chips All in all of course I will return soon. read more

So far they are operating at top speed! The spicy pineapple margarita is a must. Beer is cold but could be colder. The garlic bread is AMAZING. Taquitos are tasty and they're big. Chicken sandwich has an apple slaw on it that adds the perfect sweetness. Happy hour is 3-6 at the bar only. Place is new so of course it's packed right now. Expect a wait until the hype dies down. We will absolutely be back. Hopefully without the finance bros behind us being obnoxious, intrusive, and trying to save every seat at the bar. read more

They did a good job. I thought the service was very good, the waitress was right on point. She came quite a few times to make sure we were OK. The food was good, it was brought to the table promptly and quickly. The food was good, the prices were fairly reasonable. I would recommend this place and I would go again. My wife and I were looking for a good happy hour and decided to try Tommy's. We saw the happy hour sign and asked the hostess about it. She told us it was in the bar area, said it was self-seating, and pointed toward the back for extra seating. Since my wife is over 35 weeks pregnant, we took one of the bar tables instead of the bar stools. When our server came over, she told us happy hour was "bar only." We were confused -- we sat exactly where we were directed, at a table directly next to the bar. No offer to move us, no attempt at a resolution. The food was a mixed bag. My wife's burger was good and cooked correctly. My fish and chips came out as four long, thin strips of fish . I ended up grabbing something else on the way home. Christine, the manager, came over to check on us, so I asked why our table didn't count for happy hour when we'd been told to seat ourselves and were sitting right next to the bar. She just kept repeating "bar only" two or three times. That was the whole conversation. It would have been so easy to say, "Sorry for the confusion ,let me bring you a happy hour menu this time, since the bar stools wouldn't be comfortable for your wife." Spacious seating made it comfortable, the ambiance was modern and cozy. Menu offers the best appetizers and simple entrees. Drinks are new, tasty, and refreshing. Very well staffed you're never neglected from management to the servers checking in on you making you feel like family. Perfect for date nights or a family dinner can't go wrong. We arrived at 1:30 in the afternoon on a Monday. There was going to be a 10 minute wait for a table so we chose to eat at the bar. The bartenders were friendly and engaging. They were eager for us to sign up for their points program, which we did. My husband ordered a Stella draft, which was not in a chilled glass... first disappointment. I ordered a Bloody Mary, which was unremarkable at best. No celery... No olives... Just a tiny piece of "almost dried" lemon. I had to ask for more hot sauce as it was impossibly bland. As a result, neither of us ordered the second drink. Our sandwiches came out in a short time, however no napkins or silverware were made available until we requested it. The ahi tuna wrap was excellent! The best I've ever had. My husband ordered the mahi-mahi sandwich and it was also excellent. The sweet potato fries were delicious but sparse. All in all, let's just say I don't need to worry about building up my points! So many other great places on Hooper Avenue to have a sandwich & a brewski. read more

My boyfriend ordered Cheeseburger med well and 2x it came out raw. They did comp his meal thank you for that but all he ate for dinner was onion rings. So he never got to taste his burger. Will think if we go back. read more

Everything was excellent the Mediterranean plate, tuna poke, shrimp Cobb and shrimp wrap were amazing.....however, the onion soup stole the show! The service was amazing and the drinks were excellent as well. The only negative was that management needs to police the employees better who were holding up the ladies room stalls while they were on their phone judging from the continuous automatic flushing and no one coming our for 3-5 flushes. When the stalls finally opened it was employees not needing to wash hands! But overall this place is by far the best Toms River has to offer. With so many diverse selections there is no need to go anywhere else when eating out in this area! So happy they opened here! The vibe is lively and amazing! read more

Just stopped in for a drink and my party was harassed by other patrons who were waiting for a table. staff was notified however the harassing party was still sat. Not only was this completely disrespectful but management then came to inform us that Tommy's would do nothing about the situation and in fact would ask us to leave if we confront the other party. I will never be going back to this place some of the worst management I have ever seen. Especially the gentleman with the man bun absolute clown show. read more

I wanted to go check the place out. Looks like every time I pass it. It's busy since it opened. My friend and I went and sat at the bar. We were gonna eat dinner at the bar and have a couple drinks and we sat there for 15 minutes nobody asked us if we wanted a menu or a drink so we left the bartenders clearly sauced there were so many of them and two or three had passed us stopped even in front of us and one of them gave us the menu cause we asked for it, but never came back to see if we wanted to order or even if we wanted to drink when we asked them for the menu they should've said can I get your drink and they didn't. 2nd time back, service was great, food was great. Price was just right. 1st time wait was 1 hrs 30min, 2nd time we got a seat right at the bar. However with all the work they did there, they need some acoustic panels either on the walls or ceilings to absorb some of the sound. You can't even hear yourself talk to your wife, partner or friend and you walk out with your ears ringing. Too many hard surfaces for the sound to bounce off of and what makes it worse is all the added people waiting to sit down to a fully packed restaurant. If you have a chance to go, go at an off time, like maybe 2:30pm or 3:30pm when they are not as busy, you with be thankful you did. read more

Food is amazing! Great hangout places with great drinks as well. On the high side when it comes to prices, but once in awhile it's worth it

This is what botherd me, we sat at the bar, had to give a card up front including last name, as you order you pay up front, now there are multiple bartenders, so different server comes, again last name, this happened 4 times, I pay cash all the time, I do not want to yell at my last name every time I get a drink, fat patties, sit at bar they make a chk. Put in front with a little cup, other places , you eat, enjoy it all then you ask for tab and pay, are they worried someone's gonna walk out on a beer? Come on? Very bad customer trust!!! read more

I visited Tommy's in Toms River, the just opened thursday. Really crowded but I was able to get right in and have a seat at the bar. I ordered Korean Tacos and a couple of beers. Food was awesome beers were cold. The service was quick and friendly. Nick the bartender did a great job read more
